Comp of new genre draft
Overview
Per the Composition of a new genre for the topic of what influence social media has on modern photography and how we portray ourselves online it seems fitting to create a blog/ photo journal to bring the ideas across. This seems fitting because in today as age blogs and photo journals are all the norm. it would allow for creativity and expression while also being able to share ideas around the subject. The intension of tis would be to bring this understanding to people who are in the social media age and rather have a more entertaining and engaging read than a long research paper. By using a blog/ photo journal it would make it easier to include example in an efficient manner. I am also looking to create something that the younger generations might be interested in reading. I want to be able to engage with them because there are the biggest part of this research and are living in the tech and social media era and don’t really know a world without it. It will have snippets of ideas followed by examples to help support issues and findings. The main areas of focus would be Photography in the age of social media, influencers and perception, and stereotyping. These are the biggest areas that I found during my research and would be the most applicable to the audience.
Audience Strategy
In terms of making this appropriate for the current audience I am going to keep the academic language but also keep it in way that works with subject. I want to create a unique perspective in terms of how I present the information also keep it tuned to something that is understandable and clear. The most important thing when transposing you work into a new genre to make sure that it fits well and clear, and if you can do that with all the same information you have it is evident that you know your topic and will be able to keep the same audience as your pervious work had. This too is all about what engagement means and how it is done so the approach that I am taking should hopefully do just that, engage and inform. And it’s all about building you Portfolio up (Faust 2019) and that’s what this genre would do for the audience.
Genre
The new genre of a blog/ photo journal is a perfect way to present this project about social media. It is something that can be presented in reverse chronological order allowing for room and development. It also allows you to be able to split it up so that you can present the most pressing and important information first. And in this type of genre, “People can sense that passion and they can also sense when it leaves” (Lansat 2018). So, if you treat this like you care people will fallow it and stay engaged with your work. It’s all about having a flow and this will have a flow from what the original essay had into something completely new and easy to read and understand while still holding strong to the topic.
Design Plan
Now it’s time to show what this would look like when putting my research into to this genre of writing. I felt that this genre was appropriate because it similarly resembled the topic of research that I am doing. With a blog it is an, “online journal or informational website displaying information in the reverse chronological order, with latest posts appearing first” (Skrba 2019) which is perfect because to share the information that is ever changing I want to start where we are now with what we wound and be able to add what new thing come up and be the first thing people see. With a topic like this, this is important because the first thing they should see is that latest up to date understanding. Also, the “main purpose of a blog is to connect you to the relevant audience” (Skrba 2019) and the audience of my research of social media is probably that of a somewhat younger generation. For this reason, I want to make it have a style that is easy to follow and read and personally I think that blogs do just that. It is also important when sharing your research that you can divided it up into different areas and a blog can do that as well. Another part that I wanted to incorporate is a photo journal aspect, though this would only be appropriate because the topic of research is on photography.
A photo journal is a good way to show examples and share specifics in a more engaging manner. And in terms of my research it will be good for sharing observations and primary examples. The idea behind a photo journal is document different ideas and setting and keeping note of the things that are most important (Day 2015). My research topic has a lot to do with actually being able to incorporate visual examples to back what I am saying whether that be actual account examples or just describing platform. Photo journals also allow you to share and create your own personality and this is an aspect that I really like to have in my writing and research. One thing that is going to differ in the way that I am using is a photo journal is that it is going to be a digital because I want to incorporate it into an online blog. And like day said, “You can get creative with it, or keep it simple” (Day 2015) and this is something that I am all about. Creativity is key when trying to get to an audience to be captivated in your work. Having something unique to you and that can accurately share your work is probably the most effective way of showing your understanding.
Overall, it’s important to have a genre that accurately displays in an effective and engaging manner, by using a so-called blog focus photo journal I hope to do this. I will be able to share my research in a manner that show what is most relevant right now and also be able to add to it as new things come up. I will able be able to include picture to help get my point across and show primary examples of what the research shows. It is the perfect balance of creativity while also allowing for an engaging why to have research presented. Reference

Well... I never really expected to be assessing myself at the end of a course because its usually the other way around, but I will give it a shot.
For starters this course has taught me so much more about my writing than any other course that I have perviously taken has. This probably comes from the fact that we did so many other activities other than just regular school work to help us engage and better understand ourselves as a whole. over all I felt this really helped strengthen me as a writer and as an individual.
Throughout the quarter there was definitely significant development in everything that I worked towards in this course. A majority of that comes from the fact that there was not a specific grade I was working towards, but it was the fact that I was working wards a good end product. I also felt that since I was able to incorporate my own style into how I was able to answer things it made it so I was able to produce a lot better work.
I first believed that writing and research was a very set track where you couldn’t stray far from as that was what I was taught most of my life. But, during this course I learned that there are so many different way to do things and so many approaches you can take that in theory all lead to a similar end product. It’s all about finding what works best for you and what is best for your writing and research. This is exactly what I did and has worked out extremely well for me.
Overall I stayed every attentive during the course, I was never one to be late of miss class and usually found myself attentive throughout the entirety of the the class which I feel lead to what I consider a successful quarter. Honestly I am all about staying on top of things and this is exactly what I tried to do here and it has kept me in a good position.
Now it time to rate me as a student!
Overall: 4/5
Level of Success: 4.5/5
Engagement: 4/5
Timelyness: 5/5
Notes: As a student in Writ 1133 I found myself to be extremely on top of my work and always ready to engage during class. There were some points when I did not have the answer to things but I was always ready for what was thrown my direction. I was able to work well with how the class functioned which allowed for me to be a successful student. Overall there is not much need for improvement as I was able to achieve what I felt was success in the course.

1. Writing is not as simple as it seem.
2. Failure is part of writing. There is always room for improvement and development, in general a “a shitty first draft” is something that everyone will encounter in there process.
3. Writing is like art, it is unique to everyones personality and everyone has there own style.
4.General writing is not always applicable to all aspects of learning, although certain aspects can be found everywhere.
5. Research is not always easy, you need to be able to fit it to your work, the demographic you are researching and your topic.
6. When it comes to research you need to allow yourself listen, like I said before it is not always easy. It can be really hard when you come into a topic thinking you know more about it than you actually do. When this happens you end up only looking for answers that fall under that umbrella and that can make your research very one sided and narrow. you need to be open to what everyone has to say and what all sides might be.
7. A course like this is extremely important for students and they can take a lot way from it. We have learned a lot of skills that not only apply to writing but that can be applicable to all aspects of life. It is also been extremely beneficial that we have taken on each step in our process separately. This is made my understanding of things a lot better. I am the kind of learner that likes to take things on in chunks and that is exactly what we have done. It is also good that we have applied activities that are not exactly associated to into the calls to help us with our understanding and writing process.
Map Take 3
This is important in writing because to me this is what is the basis to me creating good writing. With this word there are many different areas such revising and editing. Like we have learned and read about there is no perfect first draft and there is always room for improvement.

Connection has been key in understanding my own research and moving forward with my project. What we have been doing in class has helped me be more creative and think deeper about what I am doing. At first I was skeptical about even starting my research and honestly I didn’t even know where to start. but through the readings and the understanding I have gained from that I was able to at least find a starting point and go from there. It has also led me to really reflect on what I am doing which has made for better development of my work as a whole.
In the world around me, what we are doing in class has has definitely opened me up as a person. Coming in this year I didn’t know anyone here and the activities and things we have done in class have definitely changed that. I have to say I probably got to know people in this class a lot quicker than I have in any other class or anywhere before. I have picked up skills and ideas that I can put to use and implement in lots of other places and that is a great thing to have. Making things easier and more interesting is a great skill to have and our activities have provided just that.
To me this picture represents new places and new thing which goes along with what we do in class:
Homework Post #8
This idea of transferable knowledge is an interesting subject because it is what you make of it. When it comes to the specifics you learn in school for each subject it is more or less a subjunctive subject and Linda S. Bergmann and Janet Zepernick even find out in there study, in doing studies they find that its hard to make general writing transferable because in many cases it is specific to each subject in education. So I guess that is safe to say that there are over arching themes within education that are sure enough transferable such as basic grammar skills and some life skills that you pick up along the way.
I would definitely say the most prominent things that are transferable are the things that we don’t even think about. many of us have probably heard the idea that it is the little things that matters and that is completely applicable here. It is the little things that we don’t pick up on that end up being the most transferable because in the end everyone ends up doing their own thing to get to a final product. Teachers can teach you the way that they think is right but that doesn’t always work for everyone nor can it be considered the correct way because in many cases there is more than one way to get to a final product.
So with all this and the conclusions that the reading comes too, yes knowledge is transferable it just depends on how you look at it and think about it. Everyone has different opinions and views on how this will work but in the end even if there are certain things that are subjective in some form or another things can transfer.

Homework #7
Writing.... it is something that brings up many different ideas and concept both that we have learned in this class, as well as what we learned in that past. Once something that I both feared and questioned when it was assigned. Now honestly I don’t feel that bad about it. But what does still loom over my head in the subject of writing is the idea of failure, it is something that is a part of everyones writing and you can’t escape it. I agree that there will always be some sort of failure in writing it just comes in many forms. No one is perfect and everyone has room to learn and grow and in writing this is what makes you stronger. Learning from where you are weak and where you failed is one of the best ways to develop because you are learning from your own mistakes not just strait from another person. Yes, there are people out there who will be better than you but they are still are not perfect, everyone can get better it just takes time and practice. It is also important to remember that your writing will not be perfect in everyones eyes and this is another thing that can help you learn and develop as a writer.
Conference part 2
This is my map and it is not unique or different or even a map looking map for that matter. This image of the moon and a bunch of words about writing is supposed to represent the fact that each each word has its own unique meaning and that is different from one another yet they all come together to create some magnificent just like stars are and do in the night sky. This map differs from my last one because it shows a deeper understanding of how these words come together to make a final product and is that is its own but is concrete and developed. For me visuals are important in helping me as a writer, but better yet as a learner in general. With that I will say that being able to put my ideas into something like this makes it a lot easier for me to visualize where I am going and what I am trying to accomplish with my writing. One aspect of this that I really enjoy is I get to make it my one which is another thing that is important in writing, getting to showcase yourself. When it come down to the theory of writing it is hard to pin point exactly one because I have been told and taught so many things in my writing career, but if I had to sum it up in one sentence it would probably be something like this: writing is what you make of it, you can be told a hundred different ways on how to write by professionals and teachers but in the you are the writer so let it represent you.
Lit Review: Draft #2
Introduction
In the recent years social media has taken hold and become a lot more popular among everyday people and especially in the world of photography as a way to self-promotion and a way to market themselves. Social media started out as something where you could share ideas, connect, and occasionally share a picture here and there with platforms such as Facebook and twitter. Then in 2010 came a platform called Instagram where it was strictly based on the idea of sharing photos. As Instagram began to grow and develop more and more people began to tailor their profile and accounts to say something about them. The details that go along with this are the concept of selfies, what affect this platform has on the world of photographers and their photos, and what it says about you if you are an influencer on a platform in which you can share your photos. Overall social media has taken a strong hold in the recent years as it has become more widely available to an audience of all ages. Much of this comes from the fact that, “the availability of mobile technology has further fueled the importance of social media in mobile learning” (Shen 2017). We live in a world of mobile technology and are going to have to accept the fact that things in the realm of social media and photography for better or for worse are going to change. This Lit review will look at understanding of social media, the types of people and how they use it, and how photographers today are using it and what they think is says about the future of photography. Understanding of social media use
Social media is nothing new relatively speaking and research suggests that the most popular forms are Twitter and Instagram. Their use revolves around “The four suggested modes—Broadcasting, Redistributing, Interacting, and Acknowledging” (Larsson 2015). It is also found that in recent years “social networking sites (SNS) have become the major communication tool by which people develop their personal online network” (Lee 2015). This leads to say that Instagram is out to prove that the phrase that pictures can speak louder than words in terms of a communication platform. It also goes without saying that this quickly grew in popularity to about 300 million active users (Lee 2015). It has also become apparent that users are using platforms such as Instagram as a persuasive practice in terms of sharing themselves. Obviously, this was something that creators of the platform knew when starting because that is the philosophy behind the app. Its intent was to create something that allowed expression and that’s exactly what it did (Zappavigna 2016). Now that there is somewhat of an understanding of social media is time to move to how influencers and Photographers use it. Social media Influencers and Photographers
In recent years social media has become a good platform for sharing information and collaborating with others allowing for what is called mobile learning, and this is what “influencers” use to help themselves grow (Shen 2017). This idea of influencers is all based on the interactions that these people get and how they can interact to strengthen their enjoyment with the audience (Shen 2017). It doesn’t take a pro to be an Instagram expert but what someone posts do say a lot about them. People can be categorized based on what they post and how they display themselves. This idea changes based on the types of photos they post (Hu 2014). Another aspect that has been added that seems to be grabbing attention is the “selfie” because it adds what is called personal photography. It gives a new perspective that influencers and photographers alike have seemed to be grabbing onto (Frosh 2015). It has also been noted that Influencers and Photographers are joining forces to make the best of both worlds. This allows for the influencers to get the best shots while the photographers can use this to grow their reputation (Peterson 2012). Once people have reached this level now comes the question of whether or not you would be able to make a live on social media. Making a living Via Social media
In the age of social media, we are in what a lot of people are calling an era of image overload and there is fear that it might be disrupting what people call authentic photography. Yet it has also been noted that we are in the biggest boom of photography yet, thus leading to the fact that if you really put effort into your photography it is possible to make your living via social media (O’Hagan 2018). People are also taking to this because it is a way to network and connect while not having all the stress. You are on your own schedule; you do what you want without the pressure of the real world on you. It also gets you out of the office and the world becomes your office (Faust 2019). The biggest thing in developing yourself in this field is patients when becoming an influencer and expecting to make a living off of it. Yes, it is possible, but this is not something that will happen overnight you need to build a reputation and have a roadmap to follow. A key thing is to stay professional, it’s your personal business and you are trying to build it (Lansat 2018). You don’t want to promote yourself as something you are not, false representation can really hurt a reputation especially on social media Conclusion
Yes, social media platforms have had an effect on the way we look at and promote ourselves and our photography but honestly it was in a sense for the better as the world develops in today’s age of technology. The point behind this review was to dig out and analyze that yes social media can be a way of self-expression and a way to market you and your work. The areas of focus were simply, to understand social media i.e. what Instagram tends are, social media photographers and influencers and what they are trying to produce, and how these people make a living today via social media and what this says about them. Based on what these sources had to say on the subject it can be said that there had been an alteration in the general way that we view and think about things based on social media, but it seems to be for the better. This change has allowed people to really showcase who they are and use a type of self-expression that they haven’t been able to use in the past. The research provided suggests that while we have a good understanding of what direction this is going this is still something that is not understood completely because it is still growing and changing.
Do DU Students Prefer Mac Laptops or PC Laptops?
Methods:
Our research was collected outside of Sturm Hall, on the Driscoll Green, and in the Anderson Academic Commons. We observed 75 people using their laptops over 40 minutes in these places and noted the system that they used, as well as asking 23 people to fill out a Google survey about their laptop preferences. We also interviewed Talie Hereford, a student using a laptop in the library, to get some more in-depth perspective about why people choose one laptop type over the other.
Results:
Survey Results:
Mac laptops are the most popular in use and preference, at ~65% usage and ~60% preference. Macs were most used by psychology, anthropology, international studies, and accounting majors, while PCs were used in relatively equal amounts among the surveyed majors. Among surveyed majors, the most common are psychology and anthropology, and most surveyed majors fell among the arts and humanities.
The most common use of Mac laptops was for schoolwork, with 12 responses, the second most common use being entertainment at 6 responses. The most commonly stated benefits of the Mac are its simplicity, its device compatibility, and the ability to use iMessage through it.
The most common use of PC laptops was for schoolwork as well, with 7 responses, the second most common also being entertainment at 3 responses. The most commonly stated benefit of the PC is touch-screen capability.
Observation Results:
Among the 75 observed laptop users, 44 people were using Mac laptops and 31 were using PC laptops. Mac laptops were more common among users in all locations.
Interview Results:
We interviewed Talie Hereford, a student laptop user, about the reasons why she used the laptop she used. She used a Mac laptop, and told us that she had always used a Mac. She said that her friends had also always used Macs, and her old school had used them exclusively as well. She also has an Apple phone. While she did not have a strong opinion either way, she said that she did not see a reason to change from her use of Mac laptops, but did not necessarily have any problem with PC laptops.
Discussion:
Through observing and studying DU students, we discovered that a majority of students on DU campus seem to use and prefer Mac laptops over PC laptops. However, there did not seem to be very strong opinions about this subject. Within our findings, many cited benefits of Mac laptops were also given about PC laptops, such as large screens and screenshot capabilities. There were even cases where the preferences question was not filled out, seemingly due to a lack of preference between the two kinds of laptop. Only one person for each kind of laptop gave survey answers that suggested a strong preference against the other kind of laptop. The laptops are also generally used for the same things, the one departure from this being the respondents reporting usage of only Macs for graphic design. Even in our interview, the use of the chosen laptop was mostly from habit, and not out of strong feelings for or against either laptop type.
In conclusion, DU students use Mac laptops more commonly than PC laptops, but the usage split is not backed by many strong feelings, instead mostly occurring through habit.
Research Journal 5
At this current moment in time I feel that I have a good basis for my research as far as knowing a general overview of the topic. I have covered background, and specific areas with my secondary research that have allowed me to extend my knowledge of the subject. Moving froward in my research I want to dive a little deeper into the areas that I covered in my literary review because I think that those topic would be good areas to cover in my research paper. I was also able to get good feed back on my Lit review that changed my thinking on some things but all in all i had a solid start. Moving onto primary research there are a couple things that I want to look into. First off I want to get the most current understanding of the topics and I also want to be able to talk to some of the people that I know in the field to get their take on the topic and how they address it. I’m not exactly sure at the moment what question I would have for primary research but I plan on developing them based on the research I did for the Lit review. With that, my next steps will be developing questions, figuring out who I should use in my primary research, then actually conducting my primary research. Overall I think I am sitting in a good spot for the research I have.
Lit Review: Self Analysis
Analysis
The goal of this lit review is to analyze and define the different areas of social media and how they relate back to my research topic. It was meant to help provide different perspectives on the topic of social media influencers and how it has changed the way photography is used. All of these sources are mean to help provide different prospectives on the topics while also giving some background around the different areas of interest surrounding the social media influence. going beyond this as a basic research project I hope to accomplish a few things in terms of understanding. My intended purpose is to show how much social media has grown and how much it has influenced other things because of its popularity. I find it so interesting how something that was once just a little idea has evolved into what it is today. The audience will hopefully be able to take a new understanding of what the intension has grown to behind social media and that it has become much more than just a social thing.
Revisions
As far as what I could do to improve my might need to add a little more focus in each of the topic areas within the paper. There are also some grammatical and phrasing things that could be fixed. The specific areas that need to be some more concrete connection is the area about social media as a living and how photography has changed on the basis of social media. Overall I have a strong start, it was just some minor things such as grammer and repetition in some areas that I need to revise. This definitely was not the easiest paper for me to start but once I got into it I was able to develop something that made sense in relation to the subject.
Lit Review: Peer Reviews
1. What is the writer’s main claim about the current research? Summarize it in two-three sentences: · How does the writer break the research into themes? Be specific. Understanding social media use Social media influencers and photographers Making a living via through social media · How does the writer synthesize his/her sources? Do you understand the connections between sources? If so, how? If not, explain this to the writer. Alex uses a lot of sources to support theme, there is a healthy balance of paraphrasing and quoting, nothing seems forced. · Is the writer’s language and tone appropriate for an academic audience? Is there too much casual language? Is the tone too instructional or informational, rather than analytical? Is there too much summary of sources? If so, point this out for the writer. The tone is fairly informal, the content on the other hand seems to fit that if an academic paper. This also could be do to the fact that social media is seen a fairly casual topic. I would say that there is a good use of synthesis as opposed to summarization. · Does the writer use evidence to support his/her claims? Are there in-text citations (parenthetical citations)? Yes, there are plenty of source references with appropriate citation. · Does the writer use supportive sources (i.e. using direct quotations)? What are some of them—point them out. Do you understand how and why they were used? Are they incorporated smoothly into the paper? Tell the writer if not, and tell him/her why it doesn’t work. Much of this comes from the fact that, “the availability of mobile technology has further fueled the importance of social media in mobile learning” (Shen 2017). This is a great example of using quotation as analaytical support whilst still flowing smoothly · Where do you feel the writer could develop his/her claim more fully? Where do you feel the writer limits his/her synthesis? For example on the making a living section, I felt there was a lack of information in relation to social media career as a theme. I’d like to see maybe some references to how people make careers out of this. Or even some statistic to how many people make careers out of social media. · Does the writer use the appropriate style (MLA or APA) through the paper? This includes in-text citations, work cited/reference page as well as correct use of a heading, punctuation and spacing. To be fair im not well versed in apa, but as far as I can tell all formatting seems appropriate. · Does the writer have any misspelled or misplaced words? Any awkward phrasing? If so, where, point them out. See highlighted · What did you learn as a reader of this paper? That Instagram is on the forefront of SNS. SNS is a acronym for social media cites. A lot of the popularity of Instagram can be broken down to simple term of consumer understanding, thus by taking advantage of this you can create a living. 2. What is the writer’s main claim about the current research? Summarize it in two-three sentences: Social media has effected the way that we interact with photography, but mostly for the better. · How does the writer break the research into themes? Be specific. Themes are based off of individual aspects of being a photographer or influencer on social media · How does the writer synthesize his/her sources? Do you understand the connections between sources? If so, how? If not, explain this to the writer. Sources are synthesized in blocks by theme, which is clear and understandable even at a glance · Is the writer’s language and tone appropriate for an academic audience? Is there too much casual language? Is the tone too instructional or informational, rather than analytical? Is there too much summary of sources? If so, point this out for the writer. Tone is slightly informal, trimming up run-on sentences would fix this · Does the writer use evidence to support his/her claims? Are there in-text citations (parenthetical citations)? In-text citations are used to support the author’s claims effectively · Does the writer use supportive sources (i.e. using direct quotations)? What are some of them—point them out. Do you understand how and why they were used? Are they incorporated smoothly into the paper? Tell the writer if not, and tell him/her why it doesn’t work. Supportive sources are used to support the author’s claims effectively · Where do you feel the writer could develop his/her claim more fully? Where do you feel the writer limits his/her synthesis? The behaviors of social media influencers could be more clearly explained, though revision of syntax will help greatly with this. Claims made are supported well, does not seem limited in any specific areas. · Does the writer use the appropriate style (MLA or APA) through the paper? This includes in-text citations, work cited/reference page as well as correct use of a heading, punctuation and spacing. Appropriate style is used in in-text citation · Does the writer have any misspelled or misplaced words? Any awkward phrasing? If so, where, point them out. Awkward phrasing is highlighted through the draft. · What did you learn as a reader of this paper? I learned about the evolution of photography form a more personal or highly produced medium into a medium used by many for entertainment and social influence. Two most important suggested revisions: Clean up spelling and phrasing mistakes to improve coherence Look out for repetition of words in sentences, “it” and “began” being key examples
Lit Review draft 1
Introduction In the recent years social media has taken hold and become a lot more popular among people and in the world of photography as a way to self-promote and market themselves. Social media started out as something where you could share ideas, connect, and occasionally share a picture here and there with platforms such as Facebook and twittered. Then in 2010 came a platform called Instagram where it was strictly based on the idea of sharing photos. As Instagram began to and develop more and more people began to tailor their profile and accounts to say something about them. We live in a world of mobile technology and going to have to accept the fact that things in the realm of social media and photography for better or for worse. This Lit review will look at understanding of social media, the types of people and how they use it, and how photographers today are using it and what they think is says about the future of photography. Understanding of social media use Social media is nothing new relatively speaking and research suggests that the most popular models are Twitter and Instagram. Their use revolves around “The four suggested modes—Broadcasting, Redistributing, Interacting, and Acknowledging” (Larsson 2015). It is also found that in recent years that “social networking sites (SNS) have become the major communication tool by which people develop their personal online network” (Lee 2015). This leads on to say that Instagram is also out to prove the phrase that pictures can speak louder than words in terms of a communication plate form. It also goes without saying that this quick grew in popularity to about 300 million active users (Lee 2015). It has also become apparent that users are using platforms such as Instagram as a persuasive practice in terms of sharing themselves. Obviously, this was something that that creators of the platform knew when starting because that is the philosophy behind the app. Its intent was to create something that allowed expression and that’s exactly what it did (Zappavigna 2016). Social media Influencers and Photographers In recent years social media had become a good platform for sharing information and collaborating with others allowing for what is called mobile learning and this is what “influencers” use to help grow themselves (Shen 2017). This idea of influencers is all based on the interactions that these people get and how they can interact to strengthen their enjoyment with the audience (Shen 2017). It doesn’t take a pro to be an Instagram expert but what someone posts do say a lot about them. People can be categorized based on what they post and how they display themselves and this changes based the types of photos they post (Hu 2014). Another aspect that has been added that seem to be grabbing the attention is the “selfie” because it adds what is called personal photography.
Making a living Via Social media In the age of social media, we in what a lot of people are call an era of image overload and there is fear that it might be taking way for authentic photography. Yet it has also been noted that we are in the biggest boom of photography yet thus leading to the fact that if you really put effort into it is possible to make your living via social media (O’Hagan 2018). People are also taking to this because it is a way to network and connect while not having all the stress. You are on your own schedule do what you want without the pressure of the real world on you. It also gets you out of the office and the world becomes your office (Faust 2019). The biggest thing is patients when becoming an influencer and expecting to make a living off of it. yes, it is possible, but this is not something that will happen overnight, you need to build a reputation and have a roadmap to follow. And a key thing is to stay professional, it’s your business and you trying to build it (Lansat 2018). Conclusion Yes, social media platforms have had an effect on the way we look at and promote ourselves and our photography but honestly it was in a sense for the better as the world develops in today age of technology. The point behind this review was to dig out and analyze that yes social media can be a way of self-expression and a way to market you and your work. The areas of focus were simply, to understand social media i.e. what Instagram tends are, social media photographers and influencers and what their intensions are, and how these people make a live today via social media and what this says about them. Based on what these sources had to say on the subject it can be said that there had been an alteration in the general way that we view and think about things based on social media, but it seems to be for the better. This change has allowed people to really showcase who they are and use a type of self-expression that they haven’t been able to use in the past. The research provide suggests that while we have a good understanding of what direction this is going this is still something that is not understood completely because it still growing and changing.
