Graduation Day || Ade, Noah & Teddy
Noah didn’t know how long he had been sitting there but before he knew it, music was playing and he heard a familiar voice. He turned to see Teddy there and pretended he didn’t notice the tone in his voice and instead, offered a smile. “Hey Ted, it’s good to see ya. Yeah, I’m glad we could,” he said warmly. He knew that things weren’t the same for them from when they were kids, but Noah never stopped caring for his brother or thinking of him as just as brother as oppose to a half brother. Noah sat and listened as each graduate’s name was called and he was sure that he had never met any of these kids before. Sure, he was there for Adelaide and spoke to her often, but it made him realize in that moment he really didn’t know all that much about her when it came to her friends. He was sure if he started to pry now, it would only make Adelaide displeased because he’d be prying.
Soon, her name was called and he clapped more loudly, even cheering a little bit and didn’t care if he was making a fool of himself. Heather squirmed in his lap, startled by the outburst Noah had just made but he quickly placed a kiss on the top of her head and hoped she wouldn’t start crying. He could see how excited Adelaide was and he could feel it, too. They were all crammed in the gymnasium which, despite its thorough cleaning still smelled of gym socks and body odour. “Hey Ted, did you take pictures?” he asked, frowning as he realized he didn’t have a camera, only the one on his phone which he couldn’t reach to with Heather on his lap.
Teddy felt completely out of place in the crammed auditorium. He had never had much of an affiliation with the high school. He had hung out with a few people after he dropped out but they all moved away and looked the other way once he moved to the North End. But Adelaide seemed to own this place. She had friends and people who cared and he couldn’t help but feel a small pang of jealousy. But this day wasn’t about him, it was about her. His baby sister was graduating from high school and he was here to show that the Hunter family still supported each other no matter what.
When her name was called, Teddy took out his phone and took a million pictures and yelled at the top of his lungs as if he was at a football game. He didn’t care that everyone around him was staring at him and Noah, they were there to show they cared. He let out a laugh as they sat down and nodded. “Yeah man, I took like a million on my phone, we can look at them later.” He let out a long breath and listened to all of the other names being called, smiling at how no one seemed to match up to the loudness of Noah and Teddy, no matter how many people they had. “Dude we totally kicked as-butt,” he said as he saw little Heather staring up at him, “at cheering. Hunter family totally wins the spirit award.”
As the ceremony came to an end and the grads threw their caps into the air, Teddy go to his feet and grabbed the flowers to be the first one to catch Ade as she came by. He stood in the aisle as she walked back and swept her up into his arms, kissing the top of her head before setting her down and handing her the flowers before he pointed at Heather and Noah. “We’re all super proud of you, kid.”
The program went by as how they practiced it. After all the students received their diplomas, the loyalty awards were given out; Adelaide stood among many of the others, smiling for the pictures and receiving her award with pride, grinning widely to her brothers screaming like madmen at a baseball game. After the loyalty awards were handed out, the next came the awards for the state champions who did the school proud by claiming most of the academic awards for the school. Last were the medals for the honor students, one of which was received by Adelaide as well. Sure, she wasn't a state champion nor a highly disciplined student.. But she was bright, she knew to keep studying even when everyone else thought of her as someone who was too much of a troublemaker to even graduate.
The ceremony ended after the Valedictorian's speech then with them all singing their graduation song. Adelaide ran to her friends and sang it together with them, tears streaming down their faces as they celebrated and mourned over the last day they'd ever be in this building as students of this fine institution. With two medals around her neck and a diploma in her hand, her other hand lifted itself to raise her cap and throw it up towards the ceiling while her chin rose in unison with her hand as her eyes watched all the other caps flying and falling altogether. After four short and memory-filled years.. They had all finally graduated. It was all over now.
Rushing towards her family along with her many peers doing the same, Adelaide weaved through the crush of the crowd threatening to swallow her whole. Poking her head out in an attempt to see her brothers, she succeeded, finding them to be one of the tallest individuals standing in the room. At that moment, she felt a little lucky that they had such good genes. Pushing and smiling along with the many "Excuse me's" and "Coming through's", she had finally found her family- Teddy, Noah and pretty young niece all together on her special day. Water flooded her vision as she saw Teddy with the bouquet of flowers as he stood.
Running now, she crushed the distance between them in a fierce hug, she hadn't seen him in ages. After being swooped up as if she was lighter than a backpack and being set down, The tears finally ran down her cheeks. She wanted to thank him for the flowers but a smile interrupted the words from flowing out. She hugged her other brother, Noah and kissed Heather then sniffed then flowers in her arms to try and calm herself from all the excitement. "I just.. I'm so glad you guys made it." Beaming at both of them, she couldn't believe her eyes. The family was together again. She wanted to say that she wished it could be like this all the time but instead, she simply smiled and hugged them both once again.
You did it!
Psh. Not even scary at all. [Laughs and squeals] The was so cool!
O-oh.. um, thank you? I’m Lilly.
It's very nice to meet you, Lily... Even though you approached me with a really weird and slightly frightening question.
Of course we’re friends! Now just slide down the damn thing, Ade.
Okay.. [Takes a deep breath and starts to whisper] One.. Two.. Three. [Goes up, stis on the stairway handle and slides down]

Aro: How can I possibly make it down any further!?!?!?!? Why are you treating me like this?!!?? T.T You are so weird, Ade!!
Aro: Look, squirt, you won't pass for a gang member anyway! I mean, physically. You're kinda short, you know?
Aro: OKAY I AM SORRY!!!! PLEASE DONT COME TO OUR HOUSE AND KILL MY WHOLE FAMILY IN FRONT OF MY EYES
Ade: Okay fine. I won't. You're lucky I'm savin' your ass this time 'round.
Ade: But if you keep going with this, my gangmates will make a sound like bang bang on you. Totes not kidding~
Ade: Ok maybe I am. But just a little but still.
Ade: I know what you're thinking. I'm not weird. I'm awesome. YOU are awesome too- you don't need a little more work on getting there.
Huh. Well, make sure you don’t die then.
That's not encouraging at all- dude, I thought we were friends!
I, um.. I don’t know, the possibilities I guess?
You're amazingly adorable. My name's Ade.
What do you mean? Count to three in your head, I guess.
Fine. But if I die, it's your fault!
I-It was um, just a concern..
........... Okay? Why were you so freaked, then?
You won’t! Trust yourself, just slide down and keep your balance.
How many counts before you slide down?
I-I guess you’re right..
I am. If you're paralyzed by this problem, without much effort.. your enemies have already won.
I-I’ll do that.. but.. I’m not sure who has my number, that’s a little.. worrying.
It is. But then again, it isn't. They can't do much unless you react how they want you to.
Try it, go on!
Wait no. I'm scared. I don't want to fall on my face or break my leg.
