it’s just SO frustrating to me that taylor swift made an entire documentary about her social and political awakening and said that she wants to be more active in what happens in the world. she said over and over how she worked to dismantle an entire system in her head and learned how to reject it. how she was tired of being just a good girl who was polite and kept her mouth shut. she cried and fought with her father about how she wanted to be on the right side of history. she wrote a song about how young people can and will change the world. she branded herself as miss americana. and now when her black fans and black people all over the world need her the most, she’s SILENT. she has a massive platform. on instagram alone, she has 133 million followers. posting a fucking black square and sharing a swipe up link is NOT enough. that is NOT activism. we are being unjustly murdered at the hands of white cops and white supremacists at an alarming rate. she has a responsibility to use her platform in the right way, and i’m sorry, but she’s not doing it and i’m tired. 

every single day i’m scared for myself, i’m scared for my friends, i’m scared that a little black girl is going to wake up somewhere tomorrow morning and find out that her mom or dad was racially targeted by a trigger happy police officer and suddenly she has to grow up without one of her parents. i’m scared that this is never going to change and that black people will have to live in fear for the rest of forever. i’m scared that one day i might have to sit down with my own children and tell them how to respond when they get pulled over by a police officer. i’m scared that one day when my own children are my age they’re going to have to go out and protest for themselves & their friends to have basic fucking human rights. i’m tired and i’m scared and i’m sick of white celebrities and their performative activism.

Emotions change like the weather. I am thankful for this job and thankful to be able to help others. I am an RN training in the icu. The hospital has been avoiding pairing me with covid patients, but now it has come the time to care for them. I have a pit in my stomach thinking about working tonight. Something that makes me feel better is knowing @taylorswift and the cats are safe. Thankful for your music and positive outlook💕 nurses love you tay🩺💕

hi @taylorswift! i’m posting another update because it’s been almost a year since my last one and to be honest, you’re like the only person i want to talk to right now (even though i don’t think you’ll ever see this but that’s okay, it feels good to get it out there…you know?).

in the last month, i spent over a week in the hospital and my health has just been plummeting. i just left a really difficult appointment again, and we decided i need three tests and then i’ll be back on chemotherapy. this was a really hard decision to make for a lot of reasons, but i’m really trying to turn things around and really, really hoping it works this time. i’ve spent the last four years on and off treatments like this, and as i’m sure you understand, it’s not easy to do.

the main reason i’m posting this is because i literally cannot thank you enough for how much you have helped me through all of this. i’m sure it sounds dumb, but as i told you in person years ago, your music is the first thing i put on when i leave appointments like this to help bring a sense of comfort. you’re the topic of conversation during every treatment, you’re what everyone uses to put a smile on my face. you help distract me so much, and you’re the first person i turn to during the highs and the lows. i’ve had such a special connection with you and your music for so long now, and it’s really been the thing that’s gotten me through. so thank you. i miss you so much and i hope things are going well for you. i’d give you the whole world if i could, and you already have my whole heart. love you, t.

yeah so update on my update! i decided to pause my treatment in order to help (try to) protect my immune system as much as possible, also to limit me going to the hospital. praying it works. this is all so unprecedented and honestly kind of terrifying, but i’m trying to be optimistic. thank you to everyone that’s sent love my way, it really means a lot. 💕💗💓💞💘

hi taylor! i hope you’re doing well :) i miss you so much!! just wanted to update you on a little bit of my life: first of all, i committed to college!! in new york!! so so excited. i’m taking a gap year before i go off to college, though, to work on my mental health and get better (things have been really tough but i’m getting help!). also, i’m turning 18 next week!!! adulthood!‽? ahh i’m excited but also feel weird about it!! alexa play never grow up :((. and lastlyy, i’ve come to accept myself which i never thought would happen. dealing with my sexuality was always a tough thing, but i feel so much better about it and i can’t thank you enough for ur constant support to the lgbtq community 🥰🌈 anyway, i hope i didn’t bore u with all this. i love you sooso much taylor!!!!
