I used to think of you like a little creek

somewhere I could sit, dip my feet, and just breathe in the peace you gave off.

But since you’ve been gone, you rush through my mind like the tide.

You stir things up, shift the ground beneath me, leave pieces of you behind like driftwood.

And sometimes, if I’m not grounded, I get pulled back into all of it.

I have to fight my way to the surface, back to solid ground, before I lose myself in it again.
