A little extra motivation

I’ve been asked a few times how I got my little guy into enjoying babyfood, or at least without too much whining. (See a first post about this here).

It has for sure been the most difficult for him to get used to, but he’s now doing such a good job. One of the tricks I quickly put in place is to use Mr Buzzy while feeding him.

It’s simple. Get dinner ready, put a bib around his neck and start feeding him. If there’s any whining, take out the buzzy wand and stick it in place onto his diaper. Then, keep feeding him and you will see that the focus isn’t on the food anymore…

I do it more often nowadays so that babyfood becomes a moment of pleasure. It’s all about associating things correctly.

And if he makes stickies because buzzy has been “mistakenly” set up too high, just pretend like nothing happened. After all, it’s a big effort Daddy is making as well. Luckily only happened once because this little peepee is always safely locked and under thick padding, and it takes a particularly pent up little for him to make stickies through all that. 😉

A baby’s closet should only be used to store his or her baby things. Diapers, powder, lotion, wipes, onesies, pajamas and any other baby clothes. Nothing else needed and especially no big boy clothes allowed here!

We know that not every baby can go 24/7, and that’s okay! Even my little guy has some “big boy clothes” to put on over his diaper when we go out (although Daddy knows he secretly prefers when I put him in his dungarees). But these are kept in Daddy’s closet, so Daddy can control if and when they are used. Not something a baby should be worrying about! It is important - if at all possible - to have a separate closet with Baby’s items kept separate to reinforce that this is their only option when getting ready for the day.

The answer to “What would my little guy like to wear today?” is therefore much easier as “jeans”, “sweatshirt” or “sweatpants” are not even options to consider. It will either be “onesie” or “pajamas”. No time lost for Daddy, no whining for Baby, everyone is happy!

As far as my little guy is concerned, this closet contains his only options. Another reminder he is, and will always be, Daddy’s baby boy.

Ask me if I have to go to the bathroom before we go on trips in the car, because little boys don’t always remember to stop when they’re playing. Hold me close, and gently rub my red bottom and tell me it’s ok while I cry softly into your chest. Tell me that it’s bedtime, and therefore diaper time. Drag me away while I protest that I don’t need diapers, and it’s still daylight outside.

Ask me if I’ve already forgotten my sore bottom, since backtalk results in spankings. Lay me down on the diapers you laid out and powder and lotion my bottom. Tell me that I must be a very little boy indeed to still need diapers at my age. Ask me if I secretly wanted to be back in diapers when you see how turned on I’ve become. Tease me about my diapers getting wet during the night while you tape me securely into them. Give me my paci and cuddle me, and call me little one, and pat and rub my bottom while telling me that you don’t mind that I’m just a little boy, even when I’m naughty. Tell me that if I’m a good boy tonight but I also wet my diapers, maybe you’ll give me an extra special change only for really good boys in the morning.
