Thank you very much for the answer to my questions before, I have much more of an idea of where to go now. Just have one more question, how do you pick a week? I was thinking of having this be the first week of February, to give myself enough time to figure everything out and not jumble up with other weeks. Do you think that is too far in advance? Hello, I was wondering if you had any tips or tricks or suggestions on how to make a shipping week. I've been wanting to make a BeauYashaJester week, but I am unsure where to start. Do you have any tips for this? Please disregard if you are busy and would rather not answer! Thank you!

Well, the first things I would probably decide are the dates you want to hold it, and the themes for each day! You want to have plenty of time to allow people to make their works and to allow you to be organised, and you can't have much of a ship week without themes, so getting those sorted out early will be really helpful. You can be vague with your themes like Love or Family or Light, or you get more specific like an AU day, a Hurt/Comfort day, etc. Having a free day for people to do whatever they like at the end is also pretty common!

Once you've got the framework worked out, you can get the word out. Make multiple posts leading up to the day, a twitter account could also help to reach more people, set out some rules or guidelines for people to follow: for example, you might not want to allow NSFW content, or require it to be hidden behind a cut or some other warnings before you reblog it. And in our case in particular, we had rules for art about the colour of Beau's skin to avoid whitewashing for example. If artists had skin that was too light, we would message them to let them know and once they fixed it we would reblog it. You can work out your own rules and guidelines to stick to, and then having a post about them as well so people are aware will be really helpful!

Then when the week is actually happening, you just have to try to be on top of things, depending on how busy it is. This is where it can be particularly helpful to have extra mods, to cover different timezones or just to be available if you aren't. Check the tag regularly for new submissions, set up a queue, and go for it!

This is a bit of an essay, and mostly based on my personal experience so other mods may have something different to say, but I hope this is helpful! Ship weeks can be so much fun and it's always incredible to see a wave of new art and fics, so it's absolutely worth the effort, but organisation is key!

Adding on more suggestions as another mod here:

Your best bet would be to get some people to help you. If you have a few friends on discord or something, that's a great place to organize. Tumblr lets you add other people to sideblogs so you can have multiple mods. If you're gonna allow fic submissions, set up an ao3 collection in advance (there's tutorials for that online). I recommend announcing your ship week about a month in advance so people have time to prepare.

Pick a blog theme that's easy to organize (feel free to steal ours), set up your tags ahead of time and keep them consistent, make sure your askbox is open and your rules are somewhere easy to access. Blog pages don't work on tumblr mobile, so I recommend making actual physical posts for things like your rules and your prompts that you can link to in a mobile-friendly way. Also be aware that any posts with links to a website other than tumblr will NOT show up in the tags, so make sure your announcement post and anything else you want public doesn't have outside links.

Beaujester Week Day 6: After the Mighty Nein

I have a whole post-campaign AU i’m slowly building, but part of it includes Beau working as an expositor out of Nicodranas, and Jester always joins her on research missions. They’re exploring the neighboring Quoraska Jungle.

Beaujester week 2020 Day 3 Dance

    Jester was bored and disappointed.  When they, The Mighty Nein, received word that the Empire was holding a royal ball in celebration of the war with the Dynasty coming to a quick close, she had been excited.  She had been extra excited when she found out that they were going to be on the guest list due to their efforts to push for peace.  She thought it would be nice to be at a big party where there would be nice music, fancy people in fancy clothes, expensive food, it was supposed to be something out of a fairytale.  

    The others weren’t into it, at least not as much as Jester.  Veth seemed okay with the fancy food, but regretted that she couldn’t bring Yeza, the Empire still believed he was either dead or a Dynasty prisoner, she couldn’t afford to reveal him.  Caduceus was optimistic, at least he seemed to be okay with going, to him it was just another party like the one in Nicodranas.  Fjord was cautious, he didn’t think it would be great for all of them to go since they tend to be embarrassments, but his opinion didn’t really matter.  Caleb was being cautious too, both a bit too much and a bit too little, like he normally was when it came to the Assembly and their wizards.  Yasha seemed ambivalent, she didn’t mind but crowds would make her uncomfortable.
