dear parents, if your child has "seemed fine this entire time" but is now seeking out diagnoses, mobility aids, medical help, more doctors, and is sharing their pain more. do not fucking shut them down? even if it ends up being nothing, showing them that support through all of that will seriously help them. if it ends up being something and you're a bitch to them, the joke will be on you and that strain on your relationship will never go away because. you didn't listen.

listen to kids. we tell you what we need, it's not that hard.

This is the best thing to share across platforms because those that get shut down take it as their life doesn't matter and they can't take up space. In the worst case, there is no such thing as *insert disability or psychological health* which is a very hard thing to hear when you deal with those illnesses and disorders yourself every day

I don’t think I will ever be able to get over the fear and resentment of the fact that I will forever be the boring one in every friendship I make. Like, not only do I have to cope with the fact that I Can’t Do Things anymore, I also have to cope with the fact that everyone else Can. The most exciting thing that’s happened in my life is that I took a shower (and then had to lay down for two hours afterwards) - I don’t get to have fun stories or go out to fun places without severe consequence. I don’t leave leave the goddamn house. I spend half of my day sleeping and the rest of it in bed with about an hour to do hobbystuff every day. I have a boring life, and I’m boring, and not only do I hate it, it scares me to my core that the people around me will realize this and then leave me because of it

I really think they need to start teaching kids in schools that most blind people can see a little bit, most deaf people can hear a little bit, and most wheelchair users can walk a little bit. And they are still disabled.
