Grace, who is known only by his last name. Who has only been called Grace, Mr. Grace, Dr. Grace by everyone around him for years. Who only heard his first name in passing, during introductions, when he was working back on Earth. Who is called Grace by the Eridians but when any of them other than Rocky say it, he can just hear the emphasis. The awe. It's no longer a name, it's become a title. Grace, who hasn't been called by his first name in years, perhaps since his parents died.

And Simon, who values his own name. Who values the identity it gives him. Who hates being called by some moniker, to be dismissed as just some convict, just another meaningless body to be used and discarded.

Simon, who makes a point to always call him Ryland.

love the library. there's no risk. you can take out a book and go "wow this sucks" and just give it back. and when you do that you're still making the library's Number Go Up so you'll be able to roll the dice on even more books. all for the low low price of free/you already paid for it with your tax money so you might as well use it
