It's gotten bad again. You sent your boyfriend a text: "Baby, can you come over?" He responded immediately, as if he was waiting for you to text. "On my way."

15 minutes later, the doorbell rang. He lived close but not too close. Gosh, did he overspeed? You opened the door, hair messy, eyebags, overworn pajamas. He stood there, slightly out of breath, eyes soft and searching your face.

He gently pulled you into a hug. "My angel…" he kissed your cheek while rubbing your head. You couldn't help but tear up. He hugged you tighter. "Shh. I'm here. It's okay." He always comforts you because he can't stand seeing you like this.

“Yeah, I couldn't get myself to study,” because you distract me. You turned your head to look at him just for a second. He was staring at you. And you realized how much more gorgeous he’s become since you last saw him.

“What were you watching that’s more important than your finals?” he asked, almost teasingly.

You became flustered at his teasing tone. “A rom-com…” You answered shyly.

He snorted at that. “Still watching those cheesy movies.” Then he patted your shoulder before having another sip from his whiskey. There was no judgment in his voice. He never judged you for anything. He was the only person who accepted you for who you are.

Your cheeks were getting red. “Yeah, some old habits never change, I guess,” you laughed awkwardly.

He gave a nod. You slowly turned your head towards the bottle on the table. You wanted to try it; you couldn’t resist yourself around alcohol, which became a really bad habit of yours. But you’re 21, so it’s perfectly fine… Or is it?

“Can I have a glass of that too?” you wanted to scream at yourself while asking that.

“Thanks, uh… Not long ago.” You twirled the glass in your hand and had a sip. The alcohol burned your throat, which made you cough.

It was late, the bar dimly lit and half-empty. You and your co-worker Leon had been reckless tonight, drinking far more than you should have. The alcohol burned warmly through your veins, loosening your limbs and clouding your thoughts. Neither of you looked particularly dignified anymore. Both of you were completely wasted.

You signaled the bartender for another beer, a mischievous smirk playing on your lips as you glanced at him. “We should do this more often.”

He raised his glass in return, eyes glassy but warm. “I agree, ma’am.” He only ever called you that when he was drunk. It had become an inside joke between the two of you.

You’d always been very close friends. But lately, you couldn’t ignore the way your heart twisted whenever he smiled at you. You’d buried those feelings for months, convincing yourself they didn’t matter. Tonight, though, the alcohol was tearing down every wall you’d built.

You were drunk enough that the words slipped out before you could stop them.

“Can you teach me how to kiss?”

The question clearly caught him off guard. For a second, his eyebrows shot up.

If he’d been sober, he probably would have laughed it off or warned you that this could ruin everything. But right now, logic had abandoned him. Instead, a low chuckle rumbled from his chest.

You shifted on your stool, moving nearer to him until your knees brushed. “No,” you whispered, voice playful yet trembling with nerves. “Actually… I’ve never kissed anyone before.”

He swallowed hard. The innocent way you looked at him as you touched his hand completely undid him.

He didn’t know which kiss to start with, so he chose the safest one: the soft, quick, casual kind. Gently, he tucked a loose strand of hair behind your ear, his fingers lingering for a moment. He leaned in until his lips hovered just above yours, so close you could feel the warmth of his breath.

“We’ll start with the casual one.” he whispered. The low timbre of his voice sent a shiver down your spine.

“No hard feelings, though.” you murmured quickly, nerves fluttering in your chest. “This is only for educational purposes… right?”

He didn’t answer with words. Instead, he closed the small distance and pressed his lips to yours, soft, smooth, and gentle. The kiss was brief, almost sweet, before he slowly pulled back.

For a moment, neither of you spoke.
