My name is Bea! Currently trying my hand at writing my first interactive novel The Flesh of Fruit. Thanks for coming along for the ride and stay tuned for updates. Asks are welcome!!!
The year is 1985. After seven long years away, you've returned to your hometown of Beachwood Dog. Everything is good now. It should be good. You think if you believe hard enough it can be. But even though the years have changed you, your home hasn't changed in the least. Years ago, you saw something that changed you forever, it's been waiting for your return. It won't let you get away this time. Something vicious and bloodthirsty lies hidden in the trees and no one is safe. Try to uncover the secrets of your town, yourself and your friends, while desperately clinging to the sanity you have fought for the last decade. Will you succeed or bear the ultimate burden? After all death is not the worst thing life has to offer.
What you can do:
-You can try to control your rapidly slipping sanity
-Rekindle friendships or start new ones and even find something more with five romanceable characters with distinct storylines.
-Gain personality traits that color your reactions.
-Face what you fear the most to uncover this mystery and maybe, just maybe clear you name and conscious once and for all.
-Try to keep everyone alive.
Romance Options
Charlotte Miller:
Your former best friend, she’s seemed to grow into herself since you last saw her. She’s no longer the shy girl that got bullied in grade school. She also seems determined to ignore your existence at any cost. Strange you’d thought if you would have received a single kind word in this town it would’ve been from her...
Delilah Badir-Rochard:
The former prom queen, Delilah used to rule the school with an air similar to a tyrannical dictator and you were one of her favorite subjects to abuse. She used to talk about how she’d leave this dump of a town behind but years later she’s still here and seems extremely intrigued at your reappearance back in town.
Chase Buchanon:
His family owns Beachwood Dog, employing most of the town at Buchanan Textiles. As kids you and Chase never crossed paths, hell you doubted if he even knew your name, but now that you're back he seems to want more than anything to get you committed again and he’s willing to use his deep pockets and connections to do so.
Thierry Alberts:
A complete outcast at school it seems the years have done Thierry some good. Beyond growing into a bit of a heartthrob he's also stolen your place as Charlotte’s best friend. Now that you’re back it seems like his guard has been raised. He’s gone out of his way to show you just how unwelcome you are. What you’ve done to incur so much mistrust is beyond you.
Ercole/Helene Han:
The new kid in town and the only person who evidently doesn’t want you to disappear off the face of the earth. In fact, he seems really eager to be a friend to you. Is it pity, a joke or do they genuinely want to get to know you.
Other Characters
This list will continue to be added to as the story develops.
Your Parents:
Your somewhat estranged parents Shireen and Davis. Your mother seems perpetually disgusted by you and your father indifferent. You can't tell what's worse.
Donna/Darren/Dee:
*Gender Selectable
Your older golden child sibling. They're trying to support your transition back home, though it's kind of difficult while they are off at college. They mean well, but that may not be enough.
Samuel Kumar:
Pronouns: He/him
Your older sibling's best friend from high school. Before your sibling went back to college, they enlisted Sam's help in watching over you. A sweet gesture but a little overwhelming. Sam's father owns Sammy's the diner where you have a job awaiting you. Sam is sweet, loves the Beetles and the movie Grease. He hopes he can make your welcome home a little warmer.
Ozymandias Rojas:
Charlotte's tech-obsessed younger half-brother. Him and Charlotte's relationship can be considered tense at best.
Pastor Esteban Rojas:
A former psychologist and Charlotte's stepfather. Esteban runs the local church. He's quite popular with the ladies. He is not as godly as he seems.
Just found this and it looks really interesting and quick question since Chase into involves getting MC committed again does that mean that MC spends their time out of town in a mental institution?
Hmmmm very good observation. It’s something similar, not a mental institution in the traditional sense. Mc’s parents, specifically their mother are very concerned about their optics in the town. Let’s just say they were able to pull some strings off the books 🤐
Just wanted to pop in and share that I’m literally giggling and kicking my feet rn. 75 followers!!!???
I truly didn’t expect so much support and interest so soon for this story. It makes me that much more excited to work on it!
I know I said the demo is gonna be out end of December, but if I can I’d like to maybe get some content out to you guys a little sooner, whether it’s a little more info on the RO’s or a snippet of the actual demo. I’ll be looking into something like that so stay tuned!!!
Is the MC back for their senior year or they (and the ROs) have already graduated high school?
If they've all finished school, what are they all doing?
The RO’s and MC are freshly out of school. As for what they’re doing:
Charlotte: Is technically unemployed rn but is doing freelance art. She recently got commissioned by the town to do window art and murals for a street festival you’ll get to attend in the first chapter. Her parents really want her to go to college but that’s just not for her right now. She does want to move out though and is saving to move to the biggest city she can afford one day.
Chase: Has taken over for his father Roland after he fell ill a few years ago. With his dad out of the public eye, Chase has taken over much of the work overseeing their family’s many properties (factories, farmland, etc) as well as the many public appearances that come with being from such influence and power.
Thierry: The same job he held during school to support his family. He works with his mom and dad on a ranch his family once owned but was bought up by the Buchanons. He also works part time in the swampland as a fisherman.
Lee: He volunteers at the old folks home right now doing event coordination. He’s thinking about pursuing higher education.
Delilah: She has several jobs right now, but her most relevant job is working in the town committee.
The town is one of those small communities where people don’t really leave generation after generation, so besides a few of the RO’s most residents have made plans to settle down where they are.
After reading the intro, I found myself also wondering wtf MC did to have so many people after their ass like "honey are you okay ? Should I call the police ? The fuck did you do !?" Like the only reason I can imagine MC being disliked that much is leaving without saying bye but that's too fetch for such reactions idk -sarah
SO TRUE! what I will say is MC is largely not at fault. They just represent something that each character desperately wants to avoid. I find sometimes when people dislike a person for no obvious reason it’s often because they see a part in them they dislike in themselves.
But also MC is not the most reliable narrator and they weren’t the best person all the time. Once the demo is out you’ll catch pretty quickly that because of the circumstances of their departure their perspective is very internal at the beginning. They don’t have the full picture so they’re only able to base their experience off of what they know to be true. As the story progresses you’ll have the choice to be more open and curious of others and their experiences of you to get that context orrrr you can just ignore it. Either decision will influence how your friendship or romance will unfold.
Hi, do you have an estimate of when the demo will be out? Is the game outlined/planned out?
Yes!! I’m actually planning to get the entire first chapter out by the end of December if not sooner. I’m about 2/3 of the way done already! Thanks so much for the ask!
