🏹 :: My ! The most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen !
Deep in the halls of the pristine house of Pomefiore lay a love ridden hunter. Rook found the beauty of anything, it was known around by all his housemates and spread around Night Raven College as the year progressed. Yet he couldn’t contain himself when he saw you.
Perhaps it was the smile that lit up the world, or the eyes that glimmered in the sunlight. No, it was everything about you that enamored Rook. You never wavered your opinions, not against any of your friends, or the upperclassmen who’d found you as free bait.
Had Rook known better, he would have stopped lurking around you. He should have stopped, but in the words of Vil, “You seem to be hit with a case of pure love, Hunt. Tilt your head up, that glint in your eyes show you’re on the hunt.” The idea of Vil assisting his lovesick fantasies only spurred him on more into becoming yours.
The day started like every other before, repeating pattern after pattern. The one thing on the hunter’s mind was finding you out in the courtyard. Maybe stalking watching you from the tree wasn’t his brightest ideas. When a rouge branch snapped under his weight, he froze up. Your eyes catching his as you tilted your head.
“are you okay up there…?” You mused with a slight smile. Rook shyly tilted his hat as he gracefully landed on his feet back to ground level.
“pardonne-moi, I meant no offense to your peaceful walk, ma beauté!” He beamed at you. When you curiously took a step towards him, he took the chance to steal your hand and swipe a kiss across your knuckles before letting it fall back to your side.
Your blushing features did nothing to help the pit in his stomach twisting gears just being near an artifact such as you. He gave you one last smile before going on his way.
“Wait- you never gave me your name! Or your reasonings for lurking!” You stopped him in his tracks as he turned back to face you.
“Ah, ma beauté, you’re the most curious! Je m'appelle Rook Hunt, the greatest of all pleasures to be in your presence!” He mused as he tapped his chin. “You’re frowning, a beautiful person such as you should be smiling at all times, it most fits you.”
The meeting seemed to spark something, which couldn’t make Rook anymore ecstatic! You’d been coming over to Pomefiore of your own free will (which not many do), and tagging along even when he talked about the most absurd of things.
It’d all dwindled down to this. Rook had been very, aggressively keen on keeping track of every thing that pleased you and made you excited. The gift bundled in his arms with a tag that read to ‘Trickster of mon cœur’ as he happily awaited your presence in the garden.
When you did arrive, his smile dropped almost instantly into a sudden spell of ‘should I be doing this’ like hours before he hadn’t secretly hit you with his Ultimate Magic to make sure you’d seen his love letter on your desk telling you that the garden had a surprise for you at exactly 11:59 pm sharp. He slipped passed Vil awkwardly like he hadn’t been told he was already told to get the confession out.
You’d learn to see, even though Rook never seemed to stop talking or stop observing, he’d never truly broke down his theatrical acts. Even though when he was around you it wasn’t as over the top, it still had fleeting moments where even Rook seemed unsure if he’d truly meant what he said. Which is why seeing his suddenly in front of you pressing a box into your hands made him as confused as you were.
“What’s this?”
“A gift. For my favorite trickster.”
“I brought you flowers, too, Rook.”
Your words seemed to shatter him as he was handed the small bouquet of wild flowers. He smiled at them before looking back to you.
“A chance with you, ma beauté?”
You smiled as you shook your head and pulled him into a hug.
“My… the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen suddenly has their arms around me telling me they aime-moi!”
