I recently saw some mergana edits and I never really thought of them as an option before. but like AGHH!! I can't get them out of my head! The potential they had friends to enemies to lovers is crazy. They are both people who struggle with the burden of their magic and have similar goals but try to achieve them in different ways. The ANGST!
wait wait wait. I watched the finale today and 1000000% thought Jax was confirmed to be trans. I had no doubt that she was and then I open social media and people are saying she isnt. Was it not painfully obvious that she was trans? I mean not only that scene but throughout the show multiple scenes have alluded to this and I just thought that scene with ribbit confirmed it. Am I crazy? I genuinely don't get how people dont think Jax is a trans woman.
I feel since coming home from the show a lot of people are hating completely on Jax or saying Jax is the best person ever. I dont like this whole I HATE JAX! JAX IS THE WORST vs JAX IS AN ANGEL AND DID NOTHING WRONG debate that seems to be going wrong.
Jax probably had the most screen time and is one of the characters with the most depth because of it (I like Jax but I wish the others got way more screen time). Jax is absolutely not perfect and should not be excused for what she did to everyone; pushing them away, being rude and bullying towards gangle. Jax has been horrible and should be held accountable.
However, Jax is a complex character and although shes not a good person she is a fictional so I dont think its weird to like a character who makes questionable decisions as she is not purely evil. Because shes still an interesting character. I feel people are forgetting people can like villains because they are an interesting character and that does not mean they are automatically defending them and the decisions they made and think they are an amazing person. People can just find a character interesting.
Especially because of her backstory, being from an abusive/toxic household. Ending up homeless and having been a closeted trans woman for such a long time. She has struggled accepting herself and I feel a lot of people in the LGBTQ+ community can relate to that. Jax is not nice but the show provides an explanation to that which doesnt make her actions less hurtful or justifiable but it does give her character more depth. And I think it felt like the show was gearing up to develop her character more to be a better person if she could accept herself and why she acts the way she does (kinda like Jamie Tartts arc in Ted Lasso). But obviously since Jax abstracted that could never happen.
Anyway what do you guys think? Does what I said make sense?
