Alysa Liu oh how you’ve captivated me
Hm
@ faradaycockcage
Further evidence
In the second Sonic movie, he refers to him self as ‘hedgehog of the house’ in Tom’s absence instead of ‘man of the house’ further implying his gender is hedgehog
not "he" as in "he/him" but "he" as in "hedgehog"
I give up:')

Drift compatibility is psychological, not genetic
The better you know someone, the more likely you are to be drift compatible
Drift compatibility is potential, not fate
Drift compatibility can be a choice
Friendship is the foundation of drift compatibility
The drift requires trust
Trust is fundamental; also drift compatibility can be determined with anything that tests how well you can anticipate each others' moves
That even includes multiplayer video games
Many cadets wash out during Pons training when secrets come out in the drift and shatter their relationships
A lot of pilots get messed up by flinching over sexual thoughts
Trying to avoid thoughts just makes them worse
Not everything you see in the drift is always real; also the way to deal with thoughts is just let them flow by
Pilots communicate through "headspace"
Illustration of a conversation in headspace
First drifts can be very confusing, because partners don't understand each others' minds very well yet
The drift exposes pilots to each others' raw, unfiltered thoughts
Raleigh knew what Yancy was going to say
The drift doesn't let you read your partner's mind like a database, and you may not necessarily understand what you see. Also when Pentecost says he carries nothing into the drift he means he's calm and stable.
Pentecost gained this calmness through meditation
Trying to block your partner from your mind will make you lose control of the Jaeger
Pilots who fall below 90% sync will be in trouble

cant believe on top of all the political stress and financial instability next year theyre gonna send the kaiju after us too
Might as well happen
a possible version of the scene with «canceling the apocalypse». chuck is just a silly little guy😭
thinking more and more about pacific rim after my rewatch last night and the fact that after the time jump (5 years after the knifehead incident) chuck is the same age that raleigh was at the beginning of the movie! and we see the same arrogance of youth that raleigh had in chuck, but it's perverse and dark now because instead of happening in the golden glory days of the jaeger programs its at the end of the world and the downfall of the pan pacific defense corps

i’ve gone on about this before but the amount of DETAIL in pacrim is so fun. i love how there people in the background cheer or clap or “oooh” during raleigh and mako’s test, how you can hear Cherno Alpha calling for backup im the background during Pentecost’s scenes in the Double Event fight, how Aleksis and Sasha have their own little conversation in Russian when Raleigh first appears in the mess hall, the way all the extras in the Kaiju bunker with Newt actually look like they’ve been running in the rain (some of them are carrying bags and purses, some ponchos, all are suitably drenched), how you can hear Newton and Hermann arguing in the background before they even get on the elevator. gdt i love you
In Pacific Rim (2013), Charlie Hunnam and Robert Kazinsky play two different characters— a subtle nod to them being two different actors, despite me being unable to tell them apart on the first viewing of the movie.
the main thing I’ve gathered from the Pacific Rim director’s commentary is that, even though a lot more of PacRim was done with CGI than I had realized, it still holds up almost 10 years later because of how intentional Guillermo Del Toro was with building in details, flaws, weathering and environmental factors, and, primarily, love and respect into every single model.
He helped animate every single creature and robot by hand on his tablet, he praised the animators for every single shot and talks about how brilliant they are, how hard they worked on every detail, he treats all of them like human beings, like geniuses, just as integral to the film as himself and the actors. The animators themselves talk about how intentional and detailed his ideas were, how helpful and insightful he was when he spoke to them about changes, when he came to them with new ideas.
There’s also a hell of a lot of practical effects woven in, which add to the believability, but the CGI holds up first and foremost because he saw it as an art form to be cultivated and loved just as fiercely as everything else, not a ‘wow’ effect to be slapped in for budget cuts.
my illu for the @edgeofhopezine I did earlier this year! you can still buy some leftover zines and merch in their shop
Mako Mori (my beloved) sketch in honour of Pacific Rim’s 10th anniversary! Truly one of my favourite films of all time 💕
Not romantic not platonic but a secret third thing (drift compatible)
