i think i hate the mental fatigue of being in constant pain more than the pain itself. atleast if it was only pain i could study read do art learn new skills but ya know, that would be too easy
i love it when my chronic back pain lessens but my chronic hip pain flare-up happens right after so i have been stuck indoors since december. i dont think things will get better :/ bummer
oughh

lucky me, my severe scoliosis is crushing my ribcage and my left leg no longer feels pain. truly exciting stuff, i am the envy of the commune
for the past 3 years me and my husband have been homeless together as a disabled trans couple, and we have just gotten into a 1 bedroom this week. it doesnt have enough or comfortable furniture, especially with my nerve pain.
while we try to shop for a new mattress and a chair i am staying with mental health services. we are asking for help with $300 dollars to cover the cost of these things. please help me to be safe where i live so i can do the things i need to please.

Going Vegan, Tip #1
Do Your Research On The Animals First, Not Veganism.
Most people don’t know that much about farmed animals outside of what they look like, what sounds they make, what they generally do, and what they’re raised for. That’s pretty much it, and that’s not any sort of failing on our part. It’s just the result of living in a society where meat, dairy, egg, etc consumption is the norm and going against it out of compassion for the animals is seen as extreme behaviour.
So pick any species of farmed animal and go from there. Look up how they show affection to each other, what their sounds and body language mean, what kind of enrichment toys they like, what foods they like to eat, what their skills are; jumping, swimming, climbing, flying, etc and if they do it often when given the chance. Look up pretty much anything that helps you get to know them as sentient animals that can experience and enjoy life rather than just animals that are raised for food.
It’s so much easier to go vegan when you start out with a better understanding of these animals and give yourself more than enough positive reasons why to stick with it. Especially since that research is going to be stuff you can keep coming back to without having to put your own mental health at risk.
And that’s not to say watching slaughterhouse footage and reading about abuse on farms isn’t a good idea, it is necessary information and I think everyone should look into it at some point, I just think that it can’t be the foundation of your activism because it’ll eventually burn you out.
turkeys are some of my fav animals with how emotionally intelligent and complex they are. the holidays are always heartbreaking, not only for these young birds who are killed at only 11-17 weeks old, but to see people constantly make jokes about it like the life that was taken is worthless. and in the very rare cases where they were killed on a small farm, which i worked on one of those, the animals trusted us and then we betray it in the worst way possible all for a meal choice or just to do what you have always done. they form close bonds with eachother too, its not just killing a turkey or a pig or a chicken, it is killing someones friends and family members.
experiments..
I find it very sad that so many kids, when they start expressing compassion for animals and reason that eating their meat/products from their bodies is wrong, are taught by caregivers that kindness is wrong when it inconveniences others and caring so much for other living beings is childish and naive, because trying your best to do less harm will make others feel bad about their actions, and I can't help but feel that's where it starts for a lot of people who then grow up to believe that their pleasure, convenience, comfort and conformity is worth it even if others have to suffer for it.
