Smoky in Mývatn.
Blue lagoon.
Horseback riding outside of Reykjavik. This is Flotki. ♥
It feels like I've just started to settle into a nice routine with -glorious amounts of- painting, eating, reading, sleeping-- And it's already time to leave. Funny how quickly a place becomes a home, and strange to think the things I've been seeing everyday will become just a memory folded into the past. I really loved my time here and have even come to embrace the moody weather, ice and wind trying to throw me into the ocean and all. Thanks for the new friends and hope to see you again someday, Skagaströnd. Tomorrow I head to Reykjavik and a few days later back home to New York.
A stop in Akureyri, and fish stew Tomoko made.
All in all, an excellant day.
On Saturday we took a road trip to Mývatn.
Here I thought,
NARNIA, I HAVE FINALLY FOUND YOU.
In Finnish, the name for the aurora borealis is "Revontulet", which literally translated means "Fox Fires." The name comes from an ancient Finnish myth, a beast fable, in which the lights were caused by a magical fox sweeping his tail across the snow spraying it up into the sky.
