despite his protests, each utterance of the name drew a certain reaction. be it a name he didn’t care for, it still meant something to him. rey fully believed that were there nothing here, he’d have struck her down already. as far as she knew, she’d been in seven devils long enough to have heard what becomes of those who cross the underground. then again, maybe it was worse to be left at the mercy of a man who seemed so torn.
her eyes flickered towards the closed doorway, the lowering of his voice alerting the feeling that words spoken between them may not have been unheard. as she should have felt nervous, endangered, she truly did not. alas, things of this nature weren’t natural, they didn’t make sense. while his wasn’t the only pull she’d ever felt, it was by far, the strongest. ❛ i don’t know what it means. but if you feel it, if you sense it too … are you honestly going to throw me to the wolves? ❜

he drew a ragged breath, his hand resting on the back of her chair. “i don’t know why i’m doing this, but listen closely.” he sighed defeatedly. “i’ll put you in a holding cell, you’ll break from my grasp and get the hell out of here. say any of this to anyone and i’ll track you down. are we clear?” he whispered, his face burning scarlet. he was really doing this.
