Name: Madja [ mah’d-jah ]
Position: Emissary & Courtier
Pronouns: She / Her / Hers
- Madja is well meaning, but old habits are hard to break. She does her best to think before she speaks, but sometime her mouth moves faster than her mind, and experience has proven her tongue still remains as sharp as ever.
- Her youth was never really warm and receptive, so becoming what she didn’t know has been, and continues to be, a struggle.
- But she’s patient and observant. Still excellent at reading those around her, but incapable of reading between the lines. Because her method of communication is straight to the point, she does struggle with social cues and a lot of speech patterns are lost on her.
- Because she’s kind of remained solitary over the years, what little slang and adjustments to speech she knows is from passing. From whatever she’s picked up on her travels, which means she still has the tendency of speaking as she did back home. Formal and with purpose.
- She’s learned by knowing how NOT to act, how NOT to behave, and she really does try. She’s sweet, and caring in her own way. Loyal, though it is rare to receive that from her anymore. Unfortunately, she’s not terrible gentle – with touch or word – and she does lack a little tact.
- Madja comes from the Autumn Court, granddaughter of the High Lord. Her mother wasn’t the favored child, but fae children were rare enough that being the first born within the Inner Circle garnered her a bit more importance than others. Her grandfather didn’t lavish her with spoils, instead, when she was old enough, he gave her to her uncle for training.
- Thallis, her uncle, was the favorite of the king, and one of the most efficient Emissaries and Courtiers she’d ever seen. He was well educated in social, military, and royal matters and contained more information she thought was possible. Her offered her a certain of freedom with the position that was given to her. Acting as the mouth piece of the Autumn Court allowed her to travel all over the Great Kingdom – a freedom she was entirely selfish in over her years in the Inner Circle.
- She spent close to a decade training under her Uncle, learning the ends and outs of political conversation, how to read people during talks, how to gauge the emotions of her audience and adjust as needed. By the time she finished her time with him, Thallis had equipped her with a sharp mind, an even sharper tongue, and an impenetrable mind.
- She took over the role of Emissary and Courtier, leaving her uncle to the lead the Armies alongside her father. And for decades she visited the different Courts of the Kingdom. Strengthening the alliance between her court and others, offering aid where and where needed, attending the celebrations out of “good faith” (in secret, she loved the celebrations of the different courts)
- She was celebrating the Solstice in the Winter Court when she got the news of the fall of her grandfather and was beckoned home with an urgency she feared. They were not a close-knit family, if anything, they were quite the opposite. The Inner Circle had grown bitter and greedy during their decades of ruling, and the closer her grandfather got to his death – the more power hungry they became.
- It was claimed that the Spring Court had murdered the High Lord, presumably a spy sneaking in in the dead of night to do their job, but Madja was hesitant to believe such flimsy accusations – she had a lover in the Spring Court, and in all her time spent there, not once did they seem hostile toward anyone at all.
- She was tasked with informing the Court of the news, which was not out of her various tasks of Emissary or Courtier, but playing spy and whispering words of War was. Her father had taken the throne, chosen by the Great Powers to rule over the Court anew but she knew her father was no politician. He was a warrior, and a warrior on the throne was never a good thing. Already he spoke of War, of pushing their boundaries outward and encroaching on the territory of their surrounding Courts. Already he was dismantling the carefully woven threads of trust and respect between the Autumn Court and the rest of the Great Kingdom. And now he wanted her to play traitor.
- She didn’t refuse, but she also had no intention of following through with the plans. Instead, she made her way to the Spring Court and spent one last night with her lover. It wasn’t until dawn broke and she made to leave did she tell him her father’s plans, leaving him in his bed with nothing more than impending war and a sweet goodbye.
- She had asked him to spread word to the other courts, and whether or not he completed that task wasn’t her problem. Madja left the Great Kingdom through the portal at the Autumn and Spring crossing, making her way into the human realm, where she’s remained since.
- She spent a good portion of her time traveling, seeing the wonders of the human eye and enjoying their simple pleasures. But the Cruise promised so much more for her. Forever on the move, it promised the same freedoms that she left behind in the Autumn Court. And everything else that came with it was everything she needed to tether herself to the present. The addictions, the wanton desires, the fleeting senses – it continues to cloud her brain, to create a fog so thick there would be no room for the guilt and longing to remain.

** She’s been on the cruise for about 3 years now, anyone with any great length of time would have probably run across her, so I’m perfectly okay with assumed connection platonically! If you’re interested in anything more than her, feel free to DM me!
