After all these years, the Tropical Pond House at Glasgow Botanic Gardens is still one of my favourite places in the city. It just makes you forget you’re in Scotland and gives anybody the opportunity to feel like they are somewhere far away, along with the chance to observe plants you’d have to travel across the world to see in a natural state. I could spend an entire day in there. Don’t miss it if you ever come visit!

I made this illustration of the lady of the aztec underworld (called Mictlán), Mictlancihuatl; for the ancient Nahua people,Aztecs and Pipiles from El Salvador (which I share part of my heritage with) she reigned the underworld with his husband Mictlantecuhtli (Lord of the dead) and they both ruled the death of all the people who died of old age, and common illnesses. She IS NOT THE SANTA MUERTE, they are both different figures. I see her as a depiction of a force of nature,specifically the one who reigns over the death. The one whi will come for us or us to her.

She’s saying Welcome! in nahuatl.

Telperion, one of the Two Trees of Valinor, was sung into being by Yavanna. She made Galathilion in its likeness for the Elves of Tirion, who gave a seedling of their tree to the Elves of Tol Eressëa, and this became Celeborn. A seedling of Celeborn was gifted to the Dúnedain. It became Nimloth, the White Tree of Númenor, from which each White Tree of Gondor leading up to the one found by Aragorn was descended.
