Lotor adopted Kova as a companion when he was a child because he was lonely. He even based his uniform and color around Kova’s fur design, like…wow. Kova was Lotor’s fucking therapy cat while he had to suffer through 10,000 years of abuse and neglect at the hands of his shitty parents and the people around him. Kova was also exposed to whatever the fuck energy was coming out of the rift like Lotor, so it wasn’t like he was going to die any time soon like a normal cat. Not to mention Lotor ends up later giving him to Narti because she was blind.
