Honoring House Sparrows on World Sparrow Day
View On WordPress
White-throated sparrows are friendly fellows, and this one (from January '25) responded to me waving at him by posing for me!
Birds look so personable with sparks of light in their eyes, and I recently learned that these are called "catchlights" in photography!
Another photography highlight from 2025 was seeing how one of my favorite spots in Highbanks Metro Park transformed over the course of autumn!
I really enjoyed writing this blog post! 2025 gave me many opportunities to strengthen my photography skills.

2024 gave me numerous opportunities to build my nature photography skills, especially when it came to taking photos of the many different birds in our neighborhood! I'm grateful for all of the successes I've had this year, especially with my Etsy store.
Depression and Photography #2: Finding Companionship With Neighborhood Birds
September 29th: Frodo Sails Into the West
In Lord of the Rings lore, today is the day (in the fictional year 3021) when Frodo sails into the Uttermost West alongside the other Ringbearers to find healing for his lingering wounds and trauma. From the Grey Havens (the port seen at the end of Return of the King), he leaves Middle-earth alongside Bilbo, Gandalf, Elrond, and Galadriel. Together, they depart for the hidden land of Valinor,…
