If you are trans: do not apply for asylum in Canada YET.
The appropriate changes are in the works, but not official yet. You will most likely be denied.
If you are denied for asylum once, you can not reapply. EVER.
Things could change quickly, so you need to keep that option open. Now is the time to prepare, not act. Unless you are in immediately, and direct danger right now (not pending a court case, not that the social climate for our community is bad, immediate danger to you as an individual), you need to wait until something changes, sadly.
it's very surreal to see posts about palestine dwindling down after the ceasefire. israel is still blocking aid to and trying to make life difficult for palestinians in gaza. we still have to continue to speak up about gaza.
in this ceasefire, many palestinians are trying to rebuild in attempts to try and return to what they had before the genocide. despite the heavy and unbearable loss of life that gaza has experienced, her people continue to try to make a better world for their children.
alaa is a mother of two young children. she wants to rebuild her house and get a better future for her children. please have heart and consider helping her out. her fundraiser has been verified.
it's been seven days since the last donation. please please share and consider donating if you can. alaa has to get enough money to rebuild her house to ensure her children's well being.

Are banks operational in Gaza? And how do we deal with cash flow?
The targeting of the occupation against the banking and financial systems in the Gaza Strip, the destruction of dozens of exchange offices and ATMs, the prohibition of financial transfers to Gazans, and the absence of regulatory oversight from the relevant authorities have led to chaos and the dominance of banks and exchange offices, resulting in an increase in the financial discount as commissions on the amounts that Palestinians there seek to obtain in cash.
So as not to get away from the main topic of this post, let's focus on answering these two questions directly.
Yes and no.
How is that, Mahmoud? Explain.
Yes, all banks in Gaza have shut down their headquarters since the war broke out, and it's not possible to contact their employees to complete certain transactions.
But banks operate digitally through some official apps, mainly Bank of Palestine since its headquarters is in Ramallah and not Gaza, so it operates normally.
So you're saying the banks are closed does that mean ATMs are, too? How do you withdraw your money?
Through traders in Gaza.
How does that work?
Let's say Mahmoud needs to withdraw 100 dollars in cash. He goes to one of the known traders in Gaza and says "I need 100 dollars in cash, how much is commission?"
How much is commission?
Commission differs from one trader to another. It comes down to their personal desire. For example on the day of writing this post, dated 4/12/2024, commission for cash withdrawal has reached 30% of the amount withdrawn.
In other words, if I had 100 dollars in my bank account, I need to pay 30 dollars to the trader, and receive 70 dollars in cash. So, the price of converting bank credit to cash is 30% of that amount.
Meaning if I had 1000 dollars, I receive 700 dollars instead. Imagine that level of injustice, despair, and despotism.
When you receive money from outside of Palestine, the trader also keeps 30%.
But there's nothing we can do. We have no choice but to accept these terms, just to be able to eat and drink and go on with our daily needs.

On the other hand, prices of goods are astronomical. I am not exaggerating when I say that if a person in Gaza has unlimited money it still wouldn't be enough.
The smallest of families need 100 dollars a day just to get by with the bare minimum.
Help us to provide food for today and feed our children in the midst of this famine.
Only $350 left to reach the short-term goal of $22,000
some of y’all need to learn more compassion for adults who are severely mentally ill or disabled… like schizophrenics who still depend on their family members and probably always will have to, autistic people who live in group homes, people with bipolar disorder who attend partial inpatient programs, etc…. people who couldn’t get college degrees, who can’t work. not everyone is like you.
1. Do you think a post pointing out an issue with fandom racism and misogyny is an appropriate place to bring up your favorite white male character? Why or why not?
2. Did this post call you racist for relating to a white male character? If you thought or think so, consider why you got defensive.
3. Think about the disproportionate amount of art and writing about white male characters in fandom spaces. Do you think this is, across all boards, due to them being written better or more relatably than the POC protagonist?
a. If so, consider why you notice the writing of white male characters more often. Are white male characters written "better" than the POC protagonist, or do you have an internalized fear of relating to non-white characters that you need to work through?
b. If not, consider what ingrained biases might lead to this phenomenon in fandom spaces.
c. If you read a. and thought that white male characters literally just are usually or always written better than the POC and/or female protagonist, accept you are wrong and consider some self reflection.
4. Have you researched how to write and draw characters that are non-white and/or non-male? If not, does this limitation lead you to gravitate towards characters you feel "qualified" to make content about, therefore inflating the issue?
5. If people are telling you to reconsider your point of view in my replies section, did you stop to consider what they said apart from your human instinct to be defensive? Have you considered that arguing against those trying to educate you about fandom racism and misogyny, which can be difficult to see in yourself, in the notes of a post talking about fandom racism and misogyny, might be short-sighted and counterproductive?
6. If you are inclined to defend your favorite white male character, pause. Are all of your other favorite characters also majority white? Are they majority male? Are they either of these and NOT the main character of the show, movie, or game they originate from?
a. If not, this comic is not for you. Please move on and give it a reblog if you're feeling generous.
b. If so, consider this pattern. If you want to break it, ask someone for a reccomendation for characters or media similar to your favorites. Expand your horizons, and engage with your community rather than fighting against them.
The bombing has stopped, but the affects of such have not. Israel wants you to look away now. Don’t give them the hope that they can do this once more. Continue to fight for the lives that were lost and the lives that are still here with us. The ceasefire has not stopped the famine.
Some things to remember on this monday afternoon for us Americans:
if you see ICE, say ICE. it’s not illegal unless you try to physically stop them
trans folks, if you can, stock pile your HRT and if you haven’t already update all documents with name and gender changes
make sure you have your passport and important paperwork ready to go in case of emergencies
don’t isolate, just because the world shit doesn’t mean you don’t have people who care around you.
read more, whether it be the news, fiction, nonfiction… whatever. reading helps distract but it also reflects current society and can show us signs that we should no avoid in order to prevent fascism.
help the homeless and disadvantaged
do what you can, but if your mental or physical health is going to be impacted, prioritize yourself.
it’s so important to stick together as a community and help each other as much as possible. i’d say it’s only 4 years but the future is uncertain and we don’t know if it’s going to get better or worse. As long as we have each other we will be okay. Stay safe
