meanwhile dragon!aerion is still not fully matured therefore he cannot lay eggs yet

both dragons are very much besotted with one another and so while both dragons await for aerion to mature until he can lay eggs, they just hug and kiss and spend hours together on their nests (and whatever the fuck dragons do) without mating, refusing to be apart from one another and only moving away from each other if their dragonriders call for them (although I can imagine valarr being untamed after hatching and aerion being a very temperamental dragon that no one wants to try to claim him)

since dragons are said to have no fixed gender, i like to imagine they're all 'male' by default but at a certain age they'll have the ability to lay eggs therefore becoming the 'woman', just like a handful of egg-laying species irl
