Can I be honest with yall I don't want to hear SHIT against cishets at pride this year
This phrase has already entered my vocabulary re: media criticism where like. The viewer has a concrete view of what they expect a story to be based on the tropes and cliches they're used to seeing together, and when that doesn't happen, they judge it as a failed depiction of what they assumed it was going to be instead of judging it as what it actually is.
"This show is problematic because the hero didn't kill the villain at the end": When does he steal the bread?
"These two characters who were close friends throughout the series don't kiss at the end! What the fuck?": When does he steal the bread?
"This feels like it's missing a conclusion! Like, the protagonist does bad stuff and because of a critical decision he makes as a result of his major character flaws, meets tragedy in the end! Where's the part where he learns better and brings is love back from the dead and becomes a good guy and gets a happy ending?": When does he steal the fucking bread??
I heard this out as "When criticizing something, you must judge it for what it is, not what it isn't"
#this is why so many of us urge people to get a wider diet of stories
I wish people were as scared of getting into a car accident as they are of being true crime'd. Maybe then they wouldn't be on their phones while driving.
It is wild talking to people online where you'll be like "Hey, you're kind of being an ass," and they'll rant about how as a member of a marginalized community... oppression and violence... societal forces... lack of opportunity... and it's like "Ok, people who share some demographic with you are pushed into homelessness and sex work but they are not being assholes online. You are a grad student at Reed who works part-time as a paralegal and you are a real dick."
Calligrificator, I come bearing the gift of a string of words you’d almost certainly never expect in that order, but I promise you these occurred organically.
“ my stupid superpower, my food has a higher chance of spontaneously circumcising itself in front of me”
please render it as your artistic vision sees fit <3
Others have said it and I'm gonna say it too: This film is beautiful.
This movie is so colorful and it's like a breath of fresh air in today's "blockbuster" movie era where everything is dull, washed out, too dark, desaturated, or blue. The space scenes especially are full of warm colors and hues. Planet Adrian? fucking gorgeous. The STARS even have color, which is actually astronomically accurate thank you very much, stars are not all white, they range from red to orange to yellow to white to blue!! And you can SEE than in the space scenes!
Speaking of seeing, you can see every scene in this movie because it's actually well-lit because they're not trying to hide bad CGI. So much of the movie is actual real models and puppets and line work and practical effects! They don't want to hide it, they want you to see it!
And the LIGHT? Oh my god the role of light in this movie. It should be considered a character in its own right. There's a scene where Grace is looking for Rocky and the light literally guides him down the hall. Light is constantly moving and changing in this film within the same cut, it's absolutely incredible. Light is so IMPORTANT in this film. It's directional, it's dynamic, it changes colors, it's vibrant! So many modern films can't do that because of the CGI; they need flat, ambient, consistent lighting to make the modeling work easier. Not in this movie!!
sports rpf authors note on ao3 saying "if this fic is about you or someone you know this is not for you. please leave by clicking this link" and the link in question is to a comprehensive guide on why golf should be abolished forever
Wow thanks for the ingot man let me just inspect the quality real quick
Dude come on
He tries his hardest with the crap they mine for him and this is what he gets, centuries of shit talk
Would you do “Je suis là! Je! Suis! Là! *falls down a hill* ah putain! Je suis plus là!” please?
There’s an excellent French meme (news clip?) of an old guy carefully stepping down a steep grassy hill, and well, I’m sure you can guess what happens next ;p
no weapon formed against my sweeties will prosper
it cracks me up that tatsu wanted dandadan to strictly have just a girl main character but he eventually caved and was like. fine I’ll put a boy. but I’m taking his balls away.
And dat's what punk is really all about
