I think one of the reasons kylo ren is such a dislikable character is bc they made him based on jacen solo, but without jacen’s understanding background - which makes ben solo sound a lot like a ungrateful power hungry spoiled brat (that and that one time he killed his audience-favorite loving father)

oh bud. agreed. totally. jacen made sense to empathise with in a way: the audience knew him before he became a sith and his fall made sense because he was destroyed by the loss of his brother and… honestly… i liked that the story never made excuses for him like the sequel trilogy tries to make excuses for kylo it somehow made jacen’s character more likeable. in the end jaina did end his life and it was always painted as more of a personal tragedy than the result of mistakes his family made (like ben’s loss has been pushed as han and leia and lukes fault).like jacen did horrible things but his motivations made sense and it was shown that just because he was hurting that doesn’t mean he deserved redemption. the EU handled the ‘Fallen Solo Child’ thing 1000x times better and thats the tea on that
