ok so i just found this flow calculator that's actually changing my whole engineering life and i need to tell u about it
like listen. i've been doing mechanical engineering for 3 years and EVERY SINGLE TIME i need to calculate flow velocity it's been this whole THING:
open 47 browser tabs
find the conversion table
grab calculator
do the math
double check bc i KNOW i messed up the units somewhere
cry a little
start over
and it takes like 10 minutes MINIMUM and that's if everything goes right???
but THEN i found this calculator and omg
🌊 features that absolutely slap: 🌊
✨ it's FREE (like actually free not "free trial" nonsense) ✨ works on my phone so i can use it literally anywhere ✨ has EVERY unit (gpm, lpm, cfm, all of them) ✨ gives me answers in like 2 seconds ✨ i haven't made a single calculation error since i started using it ✨ no sign up no email no premium version just WORKS
the vibes:
before: suffering 😭 after: thriving 😎
who needs this:
engineering students (save yourselves)
anyone doing hvac stuff
mechanical engineers (that's me hi)
people who work with pipes
literally anyone who's tired of manual calculations
why it hits different:
remember spending 10 minutes on ONE calculation? now it's 10 SECONDS. that's like a 98% time reduction or whatever. math isn't my strong suit but that's SIGNIFICANT.
also i used to make so many mistakes with unit conversions and now i just... don't? the calculator does it? revolutionary concept honestly.
real talk:
i used this for my senior project and finished the flow calculations in like 20 minutes when it used to take me HOURS. literally got an A on that section. coincidence? i think not.
also used it when i was interning and my supervisor was like "wow you're fast" and i was like "yeah i know😏" (didn't tell him about the calculator shhhh)

just bookmark it. trust me. future you will thank present you.
anyway if you do literally anything with fluid mechanics or pipes or hvac or just engineering in general you need this
it's giving: efficiency ✨ it's giving: accuracy 💯 it's giving: free tools that actually work 🎯
reblog to save an engineering student's sanity
UPDATE: y'all are sending me messages about how much time this is saving you and i'm SO HAPPY. we're all thriving together 🙌
UPDATE 2: someone asked if it works for their thesis calculations and YES IT DOES. i literally used it for mine. you're welcome.
UPDATE 3: to the person who asked if their professor will know they used a calculator - bestie your professor probably uses one too. it's 2024. we have tools. use them.
pro tip: use it to check your manual calculations for homework. that way you learn the process BUT you also know if you messed up before you turn it in. galaxy brain move tbh
another pro tip: works great on mobile so you can literally use it during lab or in the field or wherever
final pro tip: tell your study group. everyone wins.
ok that's my ted talk thanks for coming
