Eris: They look like pillars of stone more than trees. When I was young my mother used to tell me that they used to be the columns that held up the temples of the old gods, before The Mother and faes ever existed.
Azriel: My mother used to say something similar about the Illyrian peaks.
Eris: Theyâre about the same age. Did you know the Illyrian mountains have trees with root development unlike any other in Prythian ?

The Autumn Prince was prepared this time, when Azriel launched from his post. His sentence turned into that damning cackle, a strange, foreign sound bursting from his mouth as he grasped Azriel's shoulders, and used the contact to winnow the two of them away.

Before the High Lordsâ meeting could even come to its conclusion, Eris decided that he was certain that Azriel did not actually want to kill him.
He hadn't noticed it right away, too caught up in the force of a war-weathered Illyrian slamming into him, trapping him against the hard floor with strong thighs and unforgiving hands. But when he wasn't keeping an eye out for the volatile once-human parading as a High Lady, and her equally uncontrolled mate, and fending off literal attacks from the insufferable pair, Eris was thinking about that moment. He played it out in his mind like a stage show, imagining the fleeting experience from an outsiderâs perspective. Over and over, a thought churning like a storm-whipped river underneath all the while: why didn't he kill me?
âNext time, you won't find so much fortune on your side.â
Eris could practically hear the words and feel the warm breath that came with him, skating over the ridge of his ear as precious air filled his lungs.
Fortune was a funny thing for Azriel to cite as Erisâ savior. Because in that moment, the Shadowsinger was the one who'd had all possible control. Eris had tried to fight, to call on his fire or drive a knee up to buck the Illyrian off of him, but the blue sphere of isolation Azriel had created for them hadn't been enough to separate Eris from the peace wards. Whatever magic Azriel used to tear through them did not transfer over to his victim, and the Prince had found himself entirely at the Shadowsingerâs mercy.
Literal mercy. Azriel hadn't killed him.
No, more than that. Azriel had taken express care not to kill him.
It had been a small detail that slipped away in the chaos of being attacked, but as Eris replayed the moment in his head over and over, the gesture became glaringly obvious.
The back of Eris' head needed no healing after the fact. It held its usual shape, no new divots or lumps, no blood staining his hair even redder, no spot flaring with tender pain when Eris ran his fingers harshly over his scalp.
And if Eris really concentrated, he could remember the feeling of a large warm hand gripping the back of his head, a few fingers curled around his neck to help stabilize it as he was tackled to the ground.
Azriel had slammed Eris into a marble floor, and hadn't even drawn blood.
Fortune. Was it fortune that forced Azriel's hand to protect Eris that way? The Prince thought not.
The notion exhilarated him in a way that he hadn't felt since heâd been spat out of the Mountain. Perhaps it was for this reason that Eris decided to test his theory.

There are many creatures in Prythian, and many more outside of canon. You can return to the âfamiliarsâ idea from 2024, or you can create something totally new. Expand your interpretation of who or what a creature is and see where it takes you.
Day 4: Everything Is...
What's your favourite trending TikTok audio? How would it map onto Azriel and Eris, either together or separately? You can even go old school and quote Vines or something that got a rando onto the Ellen Degeneres Show. This is ideal for TikTok and video editors.
Day 5: Favorite Trope/AU
Only one bed? Check. Swordplay as innuendo? Check. Or maybe a love story that takes place in a world neither in Prythian or on planet Earth? Hell yeah.
Day 6: Bees
Illyrians have five eyes, and are responsible for pollinating most of the crops and flowers grown on this planet. According to all known laws of aviation, there is no way that an Illyrian should be able to fly. Their wings are too small to get their huge, buff bodies off the ground. The Illyrian, of course, flies anyway. Because Illyrians don't care what Fae think is impossible.
Day 7: Free Day
This is self-explanatory.
