Great read!
'15 is coming....
“Today, I’m saying “Screw being ‘rational.’” The reason I have it in quotes is because I’m talking about the kind of “rational” that people want to hold you back to. I’m not talking about being rash. I’m not talking about being reckless. I’m talking about the rational that is holding you back. Rational is average. Rational is safe. Rational is poor person.”
My first kit for Sketch users and their Apple Watch designs is complete! Because this platform and user-interface is so new, I know folks are beginning to plan their roadmaps of how they intend to engage users on this new platform. I'm excited about the watch, and I'm excited to see what designers will do with this.
The Apple Watch wireframe kit is a great tool for developers, designers or any other person involved in strategizing their next Apple Watch app. It can be used for creating stylish wireframes and analytical thought maps in an easy, quick —and most important—professional way. Sketch utilizes symbol attributes to be able to one-click elements on to the page.
It's up for download now!
Moving to GitHub Pages
The story goes, I once was in love with the blogging platform Tumblr for it's simplistic approach to everything and theming was much easier than on Wordpress. The admin panel alone makes a difference. Then I wanted something more robust, built in analytics,, seo, theming, and more, so I went to SquareSpace. All-in-all, neither of them ended up working. Also, since the beginning of 2014, the flat-file CMS race really took off.
So, I'll be moving this site once again, but this time to Github Pages. It's a simple solution built on Jekyll that serves up static HTML content making it lightning fast. More specifically, I'll be using Octopress which is a framework for Jekyll. This will get me off the ground and running even easier. I can hack the CSS much easier than on any platform like SquareSpace and not have to dig into a database like Wordpress—full customization is a must-have.
So, stay-tuned. In the meantime, if you're looking for design work feel free to reach out to me via email or head over to my Dribbble portfolio to view some of my work.
Cheers!

I know there are post-only Twitter apps, but our smartphones are generally input-only antagonistic. They are push, not pull optimized. They are designed to ensnare you. They are sticky things, smartphones. To quickly Google a fact, tweet a thought, or respond to an email, is to run the cognitively exhausting gauntlet of whatever notifications may be waiting for you on the lock screen. Lock screen notifications can be turned off, but that’s just covering a deep well of sticky with a plastic baggie. Don’t even let me near the thing, I say, unless I’ve steeled myself for the torrent of updates and statuses.

Great opinion piece about our distractions and a case for the single purpose apps.
“A flip phone represents the ultimate luxury: inaccessibility. The most alluring thing about people with flip phones is the vote of confidence they are giving themselves (and their social lives) by not giving people a 24/7 way to reach them, across multiple platforms. It’s like they have an innate trust that the people who really want to talk to them will seek them out, will still want to talk to them three hours after sending an email.”

Do more.
Emotionally attractive design makes people feel good. It makes them feel like they belong with the product, company, person. This means putting your audience’s needs above your own in the way you frame your website.

We don’t design for browsers. We design for people. Layout is always the servant of purpose. We naturally get excited about technology. It’s great to think about what we can do with the new tech. But we don’t make our content accessible to get a gold star, we do it for people.
