man i really wanted to watch ski jumping with my friends today but suddenly everyone forgot and noone can make it. I’m just so disappointed because i rarely ask them to watch it with me and now noone even cares to take the two hours out of their day for this. I’m not even looking forward to the competition anymore, i just feel really lonely :(

This will be sorted after Cups. Starting with FIS & COC and then going to Men and then to Women's Summer/Winter.
Putting the TL;DR here already: The FIS was high when thinking of this.
FIS / COC Summer
Nothing all too bad tbh, both cups starting in China and then- Yeah, it already starts horrible.
There's over a month between the FIS Cup comps in China and Korea meaning that the athletes probably will go home in between. Not very climate-friendly (this will become a pattern)
The girls have ~2-3 days to get from Korea to France where they change city twice in three days or so before going to Switzerland with no break
The boys will be touring France towards the end, with 4 comps in a week (compared to the girls having 6 comps in 9 days incl. a flight from Korea to France)
COC girls only have 6 comps
In general, COCs of both genders have less comps than the FIS cups
FIS / COC Winter
Ignore what I said about COC having less comps in summer, they're making up for it in winter
The COC boys have 30 comps, the girls 18 (talk about equality)
But hey!! The girls end their seasons in America and Canada (Park City - Whistler - Lake Placid)
The FIS cup girls have 10 comps, the boys 14, which... a bit better
Traveling for the FIS cups isn't terrible, COC girls neither (you could've at least made it America - America - Canada but oh well)
BUT THE BOYS. OH BOY OH BOY OH BOY: The off-time should be doable, there's often a week in between the comps, but the amount of traveling. God. Germany - Japan - Austria - Germany - America - Germany
Another highlight: Norway - Slovenia - Finnland

Women's World Cup Summer
Heyyyyy it's the womeeeeen... This will be terrible right?
9 comps. Could be worse.
They don't have this weird month-break thanks to Frenstad. It's only a 3-week-break.
But they have a second 3-week-break before the last competition in Klingenthal.
All in all, this isn't terrible. Always together with the men (excluding Frenstad) and a Mixed Comp. Yay!
Women's World Cup Winter
Okay, summer wasn't bad, so winter can't be terrible either right? wrong.
They have about a month off between Klingenthal in December (12.12) and Sapporo in January (08.01) and this is when shit starts to go down
Sapporo JPN (08/09.01) - Zao JPN (11/12.01) - Rasnov ROU (14/15/16.01)
That means going from Japan to Roumania in about a day, because the Qualification will probably be on the 13th. I don't know about you, but I don't think there's a flight going from Zao to Rasnov directly so add traveling and subtract the time difference and- wow. It's still not even 24 hours.
AND THEN they also have the Willingen - Olympia issue as the men.
And the one-competition-weekend and then the suffering that is RawAir issue.
While they don't have Vikersund, they go back to Neustadt/Hinterzarten and six days later, Blue Bird starts.
ok i need your opinion on something. I have the chance to get vaccinated earlier, bc in germany sick people who need help at home can choose two people to get the vaccine. Bc the rest of my family is already vaccinated, my very sick grandpa chose me and my aunt. And I do help him from time to time, but it’s not like I’m essential for him to manage his life. So, I kinda feel guilty/ not worthy. My grandpa wants me to be safe, as the rest of the family already is. He is legally allowed to choose us, I wouldn’t break any law. But I kinda feel like I might steal the vaccine from someone who needs it more urgently. But on the other hand, so many people (esp. in high positions) also gave a fuck about that. My mom says, you have to look out for yourself, because noone else will. But I do not like this an eye for an eye mentality. Idkkk i’m kind conflicted... what do you think?
So, 2020/21 was… a season. It’s certainly had its ups and downs, but I’m grateful that we were able to have the majority of a season, including the world championships, despite whatever the hell has been going on the in the wider world!
Luckily, there’s no reason that coronavirus should have an impact on my third end-of-season survey — in fact, I got an absolutely awesome 103 responses this year! For reference, last year I got 68, and the year before that I got 66. I don’t know whether my survey just reached more people this year, or whether the ski jumping family on Tumblr has grown, but either way I’m super happy.
