Hii, what do you think about March (and anyone else you’d like to write for,) with a girlfriend (or a crush) who goes out of town two days a week to study for a masters degree?

This is a really cute request!! We love a well-educated woman and so does Marchie 😤

March is FULLY supportive of his girlfriend pursuing an advanced degree. That’s called putting in effort to improve yourself, and there’s nothing March respects more. 

He is proud to be dating someone smart enough to get into a prestigious program and dedicated enough to see it through.

He does, however, feel lonely when she’s out of town.

March has too much pride to make a big deal out of it. He hates the idea of making her feel like she shouldn’t chase her goals because of him. 

…But he misses her. 

Olric and Ryis are very acutely aware of the signs of March working himself up into a fit.  They’ll step in to reassure March that his partner will be back soon and that she’s definitely fine and she’s having a great time at university (but not a better time than she has when she’s at home).

March has abandonment anxiety. It’s to be expected; his parents left one day and never came back. He tries to be reasonable. He logically knows that there’s a perfectly solid reason for his girl to be away on certain days and that it’s not the kind of obligation that will keep her away indefinitely. There's a very low chance of her getting hurt. But still, he is March, so he worries.

He is always a bit clingy on the day she returns. He’s very clingy on the night before she has to head out again. But March never, ever tries to stop her. That would not only be a shitty thing to do, but also a pretty big knock on his pride. Like, what, he’s so pathetic that he can’t survive a couple of days a week without the woman he loves? It only feels that way…on the inside. 

He does have a bad habit of comparing himself to her school friends, even though he’s only heard stories about them. There’s a bit of jealousy going on. There’s also a decent amount of suspicion over their intentions. The issue is mostly that he doesn’t know them. March tends to assume that people he doesn’t know might be worse than they are and so he gets a touch paranoid-–he’ll get over it.

He is very much looking forward to graduation day. Partly so he can celebrate her accomplishments and partly so she won’t have to travel out of town so often.

Aww Maaarchiieeee ❤️❤️ I truly love this man so much 😭There is so much tenderness going on beneath that grumpy, frowny exterior. I firmly believe that March’s primary love language is acts of service and he would 100% do a lot of things to make up for how badly he misjudged you in the past. Headcanons below. Please be well and take care of yourself!

March enters your romantic relationship determined to do whatever it takes to make you happy and make sure you don’t regret giving him a second chance. He feels terrible that he was once so cold and unwelcoming to the person he grew to love so dearly.

He thought he was doing a pretty solid job of digging himself out of the hole he made in the first place by treating a well-meaning and hard-working person like they would never belong here. How he behaved was unkind and unfair, true, but it really isn't a crime beyond all forgiveness to be dubious of an unknown adventurer who showed up for free land with apparently zero actual farming experience. Even if he admittedly took things...too far. By his March mental calculations, he could make things right by you before long. And then he learns the whole story. 

And he is DEVASTED. 

What do you mean he was giving you hell while you were actively risking your LIFE for his hometown? 

You almost DIED??? More than once?! There must have been times early on when you would drag your battered body out of the mines, injured in the service of a god, probably desperate for help or at least a kind word…only to run into him and hear another unfeeling comment about how you weren’t doing enough for Mistria. The revelation makes March feel sick.

He could have made things easier for you all along. He’s a blacksmith, for fucks sake—he could have made your arms and armor himself so you didn’t have to work the forge and save the world.

He does start crafting any metalwork you may need. You already have the very best of swords and shields, but a farmer will always need new tools eventually. You own some really, really nice cutlery now. You never ask. You insist you’ll commission March and compensate him properly if you have need of anything, but he beats you to it every time. He notices when something ought to be replaced just a bit before you do.

He takes physically demanding chores off your hands as often as possible, to the point where you have to tell him to chill out. You don’t mind chopping your own wood. Really, you were going to pay Ryis a bit of tesserae to fix that fence, it’s fine! You are capable of carrying a water pail even if it’s full! But you should probably let him keep at the handyman thing; it makes him feel useful to you. It’s his way of supporting your beloved farm and it isn’t difficult for him at all (because he’s jacked).

He cooks for you. We already knew this to be true, but he really ramps it up. Meals give you strength and March wants to make you the very best and healthiest food possible. He tries to be less hung up on presentation and more focused on delivering the result. Buuuut this IS March, so nothing subpar or sloppy ever touches your table.

Sex gets more intimate and gentle for a while. Yes, he still wants to pound you through the mattress, and he will again in the future. But just for a bit, he wants to make extra certain that you feel how much he cherishes you. He summons all the patience and tenderness he can muster. It will be a couple minutes before he feels fine about tossing you around like a ragdoll again—you, who put your body on the line so many times without him ever realizing.

He does all kinds of subtle, every-day gestures of consideration. A hand over the sharp corner of a table, an umbrella above your head when the first rain drop falls, a warm coat taken from his shoulders and wrapped around yours on a cold night, your favorite drink already waiting at the inn on a Friday night.

March is determined to never again fail to notice when you need support. He'll be there for you. Forever, if you'll have him.

She knows how busy she is, and can only imagine how busy you are when she keeps giving you tasks.

So a stolen moment? She'll take it all day.

But, she doesn't expect you to run up to her at the request board, barely say hello before pressing a kiss to her temple and mumbling to have a good day before youre off.

It makes her flustered all day.

Everytime she sees you, she'll try and grab you to do the same.

But it's not until she sees you later that night that she returns the favor. Kissing you sweetly.

"If you're going to kiss me, at least let me return the favor next time."

Balor:

It would always take him by surprise, no matter how many times you do it.

If you're at the Inn, and happen to give him a quick peck before heading out? He'll get made fun of by Hemlock all day.

Then he's like a lovesick puppy. Looking for you everywhere. He just wanted another kiss!

Eventually, he'll go back to his work and get his mind off you. But he is still always looking for you.

When he sees you again, you're immidately pulled into him. His hand cups your cheek and kisses you sweetly.

"Time might be money, love. But you're love is priceless."

Celine:

If you do so while she's gardening, she'll giggle to the flowers and have a little pep in her step all day.

However, if it's while she's at her shift in the General Store? She gets bright red as soon as your lips leave her cheek.

She knows you said something but she is not comprehending.

Dell will ask her why she is so red. She will tell her to go away.

When she finds you later that day, she is blushing so hard. Resting her head on your shoulder.

"Next time, try to kiss me before my shift... Dell asked why I was so red."

Eiland:

It would be after visting him at the Western Ruins, just a quick kiss because you had to leave.

But that leaves him smiling to himself as he finds an undiscovered ruin.

He knows it's silly, but when he finds it. He thinks you're the lucky charm that made it so.

Well now he has to find you, because not only does he need to show you what he found but he needs more luck to find more!

When he finds you, out of breath he explains just that to you. And you can't help but laugh at him. Giving him another kiss.

He will get all blushy.

"My greatest find, might just be you."

March:

He would be a little harder to sneak up on. You know, given that he's swinging his hammer half the time.

But if you can get him to stop and talk quick? Perfect opportunity .

You kiss his cheek quickly, ready to run off into whatever adventure was next.

But, he is quick. Grabbing your wrist and pulling you back. Kissing you quickly. Grumbling about how you can just kiss and run.

If you do manage to slip from him? He is plotting all day how he is going to get you back.

Doesn't matter where you are, or where he is. You could be as public as the inn. He is getting up, grabbing you and kissing the absolute daylight out of you.

"If you're gonna kiss me, at least do it right."

Reina:

A quick peck as you grab your bowl of soup for the day? That puts her on cloud nine.

She doesn't mind the kiss and run as much as everyone else. She watches her parents do it all the time.

But it does make her think about how sweet you are to her all the time...

So she sets up a whole date for you guys. Making your favorite foods and sweets to surprise you.

When she serves it up. She gives you a quick kiss to the cheek, giggling to herself.

"You being so sweet, made me think of how much I love you."
