📁 CALVIN HOFFMANN [28-35]

content warning ➘ mental health issues, hospitalization, drug use & drinking

[x] well-known but troubled musician & poet who's faded into obscurity 

most of his close circle of friends and family use the nickname “cal” for him, it is what comes naturally and has stuck around. his parents might still call him “vinny” occasionally, even though he doesn't like it much; a force of habit, they say.

— these days, calvin is a withdrawn man, someone who rarely speaks unless he’s spoken to first; very different from how he acted when he was younger. there’s only a handful of people which cal truly feels comfortable around, one of them being his brother. since taking a step away from the public eye, some would likely describe him as mysterious; someone you hear a lot about, unsure of what is true and what isn’t. he prefers to be alone, and has come to dislike big crowds. 

he's unconventional to say the least, fighting against the norms that were put down around him as a child, not so much his parents but the other adults in his life. he's never been great with showing empathy the way he knows others do. needles to say, calvin is creative and he's got a pretty good memory, even for the smaller details that seem trivial. calvin has always been a picky eater, and it's not something's he's grown out of since he was a child like some of his friends, certain textures and whatnot still freaks him out.

likes - chess, watching the sunset, writing, music, smoking cigarettes, books, sleeping

dislikes - loud noises, snakes, big bodies of water, journalists, the rain, small spaces

health - he's had on and off issues with his mental health since his teen years, but some possible signs of schizophrenia have become more apparent the last few years. as a mixture of these problems and his drinking, he's been in and out of a couple different mental health institutions, which in itself stirs more rumors about him and his wellbeing.

as a teenager, he smoked a lot of weed with his friends and occasionally tried other substances as well, however as an adult smoking and drinking has become his vice. even knowing it's actively worsening his mental state and the hallucination he sees. on top of everything, his vision in his left eye is worse than his right.

aside from mental health, it's likely calvin has dyscalculia, as he's always been really bad with numbers and math. struggling with the most simple stuff as a child, and even now counting on his fingers and having a difficult time remembering numbers and such.

other information - while calvin might be intended for a 70s-type setting, he works well for a modern one as well, although he'd be very old fashioned, most likely opposed to modern technology and fashion. cal always walks around with an old pocket watch, and if he's not carrying cigarettes and a lighter, something must be wrong. he's rarely seen without them.

from afar it might not be very noticeable, but calvin has heterochromia, his left eye is blue and the other brown. this is something that people loved to point out when he was a kid.

backstory - calvin grew up alongside his brother albert in the california bay area, both of their parents worked within creative fields so they quickly became familiar with the arts. even with cal and alfie being polar opposites, they always found themselves bonding over music and books. they were a rather close-knit family, with strong connections to cal’s relatives. despite having grown up in the united states, both boys speak fluent german as his mother taught them.

as a teen, he was not afraid to rebel and act out against his parents and other authority figures. during his last years of high school, he'd go on to jump between different short lived jobs while writing and occasionally publishing his poetry. 

normal jobs blred him, and he soon started a band with a few friends of his; serving as the lyricist and singer. for a while, the band were pretty underground, but their fame grew and soon people outside of california knew of calvin hoffmann. he gained a reputation of sorts, as the mysterious one despite his stage presence. a lot of articles were written about the band, praising them as something great and groundbreaking  - while in reality, the band was barely functional. with their low lows, and not so high highs.

the band carried on for a few years, gaining them the reputation of abstruse but strangely iconic’, and after a period of mental health problems, calvin would quit the band and his former friends would go on to create new projects without him. cal continued with his creative works, publishing his own but also writing songs for others. though, he still kept to himself for the most part. only ever letting the rumors around him grow bigger, not entertaining them, nor shooting them down.

📁 ALEXANDER MOROZOV [17-19]

[x] the quiet russian immigrant kid

since moving to the states, most call him “alex”, while some people at school call him “fuckboy” as a joke. while his name is officially spelled aleksandr, he uses the american spelling for everything these days. as a kid, he was called “sasha” by almost everyone, but now his parents & sister are the only one to use this nickname for him.

— alexander is usually more of the quiet type, especially around new people or in places where he might not feel very comfortable. in school he's definitely more withdrawn compared to his rowdy, troublemaker friends. some might describe him as a little off-putting, with his habit of staring or silently judging rather than bluntly pointing things out. while he's not downright mean per se, he might end up picking on people to not get bullied himself.

when under the influence of alcohol or weed, alex can be a lot more talkative, especially in settings such as parties. while he likes to pretend he doesn't care for close friendships much, he can be quite protective of his little sister, and he secretly craves true connection. hence, he easily falls for peer pressure in his pursuit of belonging, often ending up in the very wrong places and groups. however, you'll never truly know whether he agrees with the right wing extremists he hangs out with, or if it's all for show because he wants that sense of belonging.

likes - energy drinks, shooter games, ice hockey, skateboarding, urban exploring, partying

dislikes - school, coffee, arguing, spicy food, strict rules, hot weather, reading,

health - overall, alex’s health is decent. while he goes through some periods of low mood and less energy, he's got no official diagnosis nor cares enough to get one. physically, he's got a couple prominent marks and such from stupid accidents, whether he got them from playing ice hockey or just being generally reckless. despite having a somewhat resting tired face, he's rarely actually sleepy. he does pretty well even with a few hours of sleep.

his parents might not know this, but alexander does experiment with drugs sometimes, mostly weed but occasionally cocaine or anything else he can snort.

other information - he spends far too much time on social media, letting himself be easily influenced by others in that way. honestly? he definitely hangs out on the more worrying sides of tumblr and tiktok (tcc among others), do what you will with that! while most school subjects bore him, he's into history; world war two and the cold war especially.

his favorite band is måneskin, while a few of his go-to meals would be sushi, french fries and pelmeni. he enjoys being outdoors a lot. more than once, he's found himself burning books with his friends out in the woods.

alexander is bisexual, while he doesn't care for labels much he knows he's attracted to both genders, and has come to terms with it himself. not caring if his parents disapprove of it or anything. he never thought he'd be this open about his sexuality, even with the negative sides to it.

backstory - alexander spent the first eleven years of his life in small-town russia, surrounded by old soviet high rises in all directions. he grew up with parents who were often too busy to truly look out for him and his younger sister anastasia. he tried his best in school, but eventually started skipping class to hang out with the older kids. at some point, his family decided to move to the united states, feeling they might do better with a fresh start. new jobs, new friends and a new environment.

at first, alexander didn't adjust very well to the move; getting bullied at school and resorting to finding friends and connections online instead. starting high school, alex didn't mind the bullying as much, and even verbally fought back sometimes. his attitude had changed somewhat, he didn't care what people thought about him anymore. he needed something, anything, that could district him from his parents failed relationship and everything crumbling around him. and that's the start to how alexander ended up in just about all the wrong kind of crowds, because moving here didn't change a thing.

— hey hello, i've got a new character who'd i like to try out, hopefully for a romantic roleplay. preferably bxg! adam is an ex military man, now a detective / police officer, he's a single (grieving) dad! he definitely gives off black cat vibes; basically, he's a serious guy with a soft spot for his daughter olivia!

i just think it could be interesting to explore a romantic dynamic with the added aspect of my partner's oc becoming kind of a step parent figure, if that makes sense?

also if anyone would be down for a 100% platonic (!!) roleplay, and comfortable playing as olivia, that would be fine too! not much about her character is set in stone as of right now, so i'm open to most things! can you tell i really like family dynamics in roleplays 😭

as for romantic plots, i think a somewhat already established relationship might work, unless we wanna go down the hookup-turning-into-real-love line. i'm thinking something along the lines of co-workers or friends to lovers!

📁 ADAM JONES [36-44]

content warning ➘ death / implied overdose, addiction & suicidal thoughts

[x] midwestern overworked detective (and a girl dad)

by co-workers, he's commonly referred to as simply “jones” (or occasionally “jonesy”). he doesn't really have any other nicknames with the exception of what olivia might call him.

— adam has grown up to be somewhat of a serious man; hardworking and very dedicated to his job because that's one of the few things which keeps him going. thus, he can be quite stubborn at times - he's prone to a lot of stress and more often than not ends up overworked. adam’s a good liar, for better or worse, whether it's about his own mental health or the simple act of lying to his daughter so as to not let her down.

on the other hand, he's got a bad habit of becoming distant when things trouble him. pushing the people who worry away and creating as much distance as possible. one thing that keeps screwing him over and over is his forgetfulness, maybe a sign of the stress he's usually under. when it comes to work, he can usually manage it pretty well, but in his personal life? not as good.

adam is caring, but struggles to show it outright to most other people, and struggles accepting any compliments sent his way. while one part deep inside him wants a proper family again, he struggles to truly commit to a new romantic relationship. one thing keeping him in line is boxing, and working out in general. he finds it therapeutic, even if he might overdo it at times.

likes - drama movies, chinese food, gambling, hot showers, nights out, boxing,

dislikes - busy shopping malls, cramped spaces, headaches, needles

health - following the passing of his girlfriend liane, adam struggled a lot with his mental health and balancing it with parenting. there were times he doubted he'd make it through it all, as the grief felt overwhelming. but despite moments of darker thoughts, he made it out.

he does have insomnia, but even after many years he still struggles to manage it. during the nights where he can't sleep, he's got a habit of smoking a few cigarettes too many. due to his high demanding job, he's often stressed, which in turn has worsened his immune system over time. he's had countless common colds and his fair share of illnesses (laryngitis likes to get his ass once in a while, leaving him feeling miserable about staying home.)

other information - aside from english, adam is near fluent in german, spanish & russian. knowing a few different languages has always been useful in his field of work. he likes a wide variety of music, but his all time favorite would probably be the ramones or the clash, having always been into all kinds of punk and rock music.

although he's never worked as a mechanic, he's skilled with repairing cars and motorcycles. it's one of those hobbies he doesn't do a lot, but he's always happy to help. he also enjoys watching sports more than playing them these days, he's a quite big fan of formula one and nascar. although, on a very surface level. adam has a soft spot for cats, and actually has a black cat of his own.

backstory - adam was born and raised in illinois alongside his younger brother - he considers himself mostly american despite his father’s german roots. while his situation at home wasn't awful, it wasn't great either. his parents fought often and he tended to butt heads with his brother a lot. their mother’s fixation with religion certainly didn't help. adam loved sports and he did boxing throughout most of his school years.

adam spent a good few years in the military following his high school graduation. while he did spend a lot of time away, this was also the time of his life where he’d meet liane. it wasn't love at first sight per se, but it didn't take long until their relationship became serious. following the birth of their daughter olivia*, adam left the army to join the police force.

throughout their relationship, liane experienced up and downs in her battle with addiction, and unfortunately she'd pass away very suddenly. this left adam alone with their daughter and his new responsibilities at work, becoming more of a prominent figure in solving murder cases. after liane passed, adam struggled a lot with grief and the idea of fully committing to another relationship, and often relied on short lived flings instead. (mostly with women, but he experimented with men at times as well.)

*olivia’s age range depends on the roleplay, as she could be between the age of 6-12, give or take.

📁 TOBIAS TOR DAHL [37-45]

[x] he's mainly a bartender, who also makes a living with his paintings

his friends usually call him “toby” or the swedish variation of “tobbe”, two nicknames he's grown used to over the years. as a kid, his father had a handful of nicknames for him, “tt” being one of them.

— tobias has always tried his best, but he's simply unlucky in life. deep down, he's caring and kind, but there are times where he struggles to express it. he's honest, maybe not about his own struggles, but in most other cases, he won't hesitate to tell it how it is. he's more athletic than you'd think; having played soccer in his youth, and he likes to play tennis from time to time. he can be charming with the right amount of alcohol in his system.

on the other hand, some would say tobias might have a somewhat of an addictive personality, whether it be alcohol, substances or something simple as ideas and concepts. like when he clung onto his toxic ex-girlfriend, desperate to fix things and believing the idea of them would work out no matter what. he's disorganized to say the least, mentally but also just the state of his apartment.

toby’s always been expressive with his emotions, positive and negative, but he's never figured out how to regulate them the way others do. he loses his temper easily, or can come off as impatient or clingy when he doesn't intend to. there are times where he might be the total opposite too; not reacting at all, or differently than how you'd expect.

likes - history, art, the rain, tennis, chocolate, writing, traveling, old music

dislikes - his birthday, dogs, slow traffic, arguing, horror movies, hangovers

health - while he has no official diagnosis, tobias does display certain symptoms that might hint at something along the lines of borderline personality disorder; mood swings, aggression, fear of abandonment and more. (as much as he wished he didn't want to become like his mother, he might still be going down a similar path.)

as for physical health, he works out regularly and likes going for walks. aside from faded scars and marks from previous alterations with people like his father and his ex-girlfriend, he doesn't really have any other issues.

other information - he’s never been much of an animal person, and throughout his life has rarely gotten along well with most animals he encounters. his father used to own an aggressive dog (who bit him once or twice), and a few horses. as of recently, tobias has come around to cats though - that would be the only exception.

despite being quite resilient to cold weather and rain, his hands are cold most of the time. there's nothing you can do about it.

tobias really likes history and old fashioned things like technology, and collecting vinyl records and such. his all time favorite band is a swedish one from the 80s! if anyone cares, his go-to drink choices would most likely be red wine or vodka.

backstory - tobias grew up in norway with parents who often argued, at times it even got physical. during his early childhood, his parents were getting divorced, and when tobias was six years old, his mother moved back to her hometown in sweden. tobias stayed in norway with his father at the small farm where he lived, but his father wasn't great to him.

at thirteen, following the sudden passing of his father, tobias had to move in with his mother in sweden, where he'd spent the next couple years. she did the bare minimum when it came to parenting, as she was dealing with her own mental health issues; leaving tobias to fend for himself. instead of getting beat, he got ignored and brushed off.

at eighteen he moved out. to stockholm he went.

he felt a sense of freedom after getting away from his family; he made new friends, jumped between different short lived jobs as he explored his creative interests. at some point, tobias fell head over heels in love with julia. but over time their relationship turned toxic as tobias’s mental health wavered and he started becoming more dependent on substances & alcohol, not to mention julia's manipulation and more. they’d continue to fight, physically and verbally, with a few ups and downs, until she broke things off.

with a broken heart, tobias traveled around europe to deal with the grief and come to terms with his own situation. but he always ended up back in stockholm one way or another, back to the cold of the north.

SUMMARY: Matthew Fernsby thinks back to his childhood and his relationship with his mother specifically. The circumstances where he'd grown up; an isolated small town in Pennsylvania, a congregation with better security than the nearest prison. His mother. Someone who claimed to love Christ more than her own family, who'd put her beliefs in front of everything and everyone else. God is always good watching, she'd say. So why didn't he do anything to stop it?

I just recently found something I wrote last year and decided to post it on AO3! It's rare I ever finish these spontaneous oc teasers of mine, and I might have intended to write more back then. But I felt it could be complete like this, I'm content with that.

Posting something slightly unfinished is better than posting nothing at all, I guess!

— i really wanna use my oc tristan (aka tino) for a platonic roleplay of some sort! i am a sucker for family roleplay and platonic character dynamics.

in other words,, i want a roleplay focused on family / platonic relationships with darker themes such as crime and violence, exploring character depth and relationships! i'm really into interrogation scenes or stuff that is heavy with dialogue / personal connection, at least i enjoy it in shows and movies :)

i'm hoping someone might be able to play a parental kind of role for my character - biological or found family! like a mother/father & teenage son dynamic, or just a teen and his case worker / a detective, teacher, etc!

bxg would be preferred either way !!

plot wise, a plot along the lines of adolescence (2025), we need to talk about kevin (2011) and possibly beautiful boy (2018) / ben is back (2018) could be interesting!

i'm open to brainstorming our own ideas as well, but i also have a few plots listed below !!

idea one [bio family] | after spending x amount of time in juvenile hall (or possibly a drug rehab center), my oc is finally released. thrown back into the real world where there are no strict rules for when to eat or for when to get fresh air. it's a strange kind of family reunion when my oc returns back home, when it feels like everything's changed. the family, nor the boy himself, will ever be the same. you know trouble is just around the corner when he's back.

idea two [found family] | my oc has become quite the familiar face around the local police station for getting into all sorts of trouble; petty theft, vandalism and whatnot. but the crimes are becoming more serious, more dangerous as of late. your oc happens to be the police officer / case worker who ends up handling the situations he gets himself into; the one to lead him down the hall or give his parents a call. professional annoyance soon turns into something more protective. concerned even, if you will.

idea three [bio family] | having to accept your own child is a suspect in a murder investigation is one thing, but to learn he's guilty and capable is something no parent is ever prepared for. his parents find themselves questioning themselves and the way they'd raised their son - feeling overwhelmed with emotion anytime they go to visit him in that place where he's locked away. things will never be the same again - parent and child can never look at themselves the same way ever again.

📁 TRISTAN GRAY [15-17]

his friends call him “tino” most of the time. his family occasionally call him “stan” or “tanner”, but he's never really liked that. in a modern setting, he goes by the username venombladez online. 

— like most other teenagers, tristan is the rebellious type with occasional mood swings - he's known for rarely listening to authority figures or even his own parents. since he was a child, he's been rather curious and observant of his surroundings, which makes him a quick learner as well (as long as it's not about math or science.) despite his dislike for authority figures and the fact he easily picks fights with others, tristan is more mature than you might think. at least when it comes to problem solving, or even his type of humor to an extent.

he's is fascinated with the morbid and anything slightly dark and unconventional. while he does find pain and suffering amusing at times, he's not the type of guy to laugh at other kinds of immature jokes. tristan himself wouldn't say he's got anger issues, but he can get pissed off easily, and he's got a history of making violent threats against others.

he's daring, and that goes hand in hand with his adventurous side; he'll easily try new things. he'll try to break as many rules as he can, and won't hesitate to call things out like he sees them. he doesn't like what his teacher is doing? he’ll let them know! making him too blunt for his own good, while on the other hand he can be a really good liar if needed. (so as to not worry the people around him about what he might be up to.)

likes - graffiti, south park, video games, fast food, violent movies, skateboarding, baseball, filmmaking

dislikes - homework, rollercoasters, early mornings, science, annoying teachers

health - it's likely that tristan has conduct disorder, although with no official diagnosis. for anyone who has encountered him more than once, it's very obvious that he has behavioral issues; quick to anger at times, difficulty reading certain social cues and a little narcissistic (at least according to his mother).

physically, he's fine, he's quite fit as he's played baseball since he was little. he’s got no problem running a few laps around the neighborhood, that much is obvious. however, tristan might often be seen with a scratch or a couple bruises, most likely from the fights he gets into at school or anything like that.

other information - tristan loves movies (watching and making them himself), but he especially really likes horror and the thriller kind. more specifically, he's obsessed with heathers (1989), scream (1996) and other more obscure movies from the early 2000's.

no one knows this, but he has quite the big knife collection well hidden in his room. tristan always carries around a pocket knife, at this point it would be weird if he didn't. he likes sharp objects, so what?

his favorite bands are nirvana, the smashing pumpkins and los campesinos! he occasionally experiments with substances such as acid, weed, ecstasy and maybe others as well. he's no stranger to drinking either.

backstory - most of his backstory depends on the roleplay & plot i’m using him for, and the same goes for his family members and current living situation! he fits well as an older brother though, or the miserable son of a single overworked mother. whatever the plot calls for!

one thing that is likely canon for every roleplay is that he's got history with getting into trouble. his list of offenses include vandalism, underage drinking and shoplifting. on top of that, he's been to juvenile hall after accidentally harming his friend when they were ‘playing around with a few hunting rifles’. god knows of that was an actual accident, or just tino's attempt to brush it all off.

spencer x luke ; spencer constantly giving luke the cold shoulder at work, while they're still actively hooking up and keeping it a secret. cue the drama! spencer & his internalized homophobia basically

spencer & emily / jj ; spencer gets put into another life threatening situation, who could've seen this coming! kidnapping, torture, and it's oh so cold. a freezing basement. she's is the first one to reach him down there - to save him - and spencer never wants to be left alone ever again

“dan” is the nickname most people use for him, if not occasionally the swedish equivalent: “danne”. even while he was married with the last name “eide”, people still recognized him as the son of a very famous actress.

— from afar, daniel might be a little difficult to read, but once you get to know him, you'll probably be able to differentiate between the subtle but different expressions on his face. he's never overly expressive, especially when it comes to positive emotions, but he's always tried his best to smile around his daughter.

he's the spontaneous type, if not downright impulsive when he's under the influence of drugs or a few too many drinks. he's always been loyal to his close ones, and once upon a time he was very committed to celine before his work and unhealthy lifestyle took over.

he adapts to situations easily and can make himself feel at home in many different environments, he used to consider himself an introvert but it probably doesn't apply anymore. daniel is destructive, to himself and the others around him, no doubt about it. a lot of people describe him as tardy, even if he's dived headfirst into work, he manages to be late to meetings more often than he's ever made it on time.

likes - partying, collecting vinyl records, spicy food, history, liquor, traveling, watching the sunset

dislikes - cats, hospitals, swimming, tattoos, snowy weather, valentines day, small spaces, baking

health - he’s unstable to say the least and his frequent usage of cocaine and other substances definitely does not improve his situation. physically, daniel doesn't really have any issues aside from the occasional nosebleeds and very frequent hangovers. looking past his drug use, he's quite healthy when it comes to his diet and such.

other information - this guy has a pretty high pain tolerance and might not react to getting his hand burned while cooking, or any other minor injuries. due to this, it takes a little more force to make him feel something fully; hence the dangerous ways he’s hurt himself in the past, like tying a thin steel wire around his wrist or biting himself to the point of bleeding.

he’s gotten arrested twice in the past; the first time for drug possession and the second time for a drunken assault. lucky for him, he’s rich enough to buy himself out of most situations. daniel also knows how to handle guns pretty well (he owns a handgun & a rifle.) do what you will with that.

backstory - daniel grew up in one of stockholm’s richest neighborhoods as one of pernilla bergvik’s children - a very famous actress. from a young age, he’d be taken care of by a nanny rather than his own mother, as his parents were always quite busy with work. but even when his mother did spend time at home, things still weren't ideal. she liked things done her way, some would probably say she's a little controlling. daniel recalls some memories of his childhood, of his relatives calling his mother a narcissist.

once graduating from university, daniel would move from stockholm to oslo where he’d meet celine eide. it wasn't love at first sight per se, but he couldn't deny the physical attraction between them. 

now, daniel got roped into the financial elite of oslo; climbing the ranks among other business men, getting married, hoping that it would somehow ‘fix him’ or ‘make him feel normal’. (it didn't, having a wife did not solve his problems.) after a few years, celine couldn't put up with their declining relationship anymore and decided to hand him the divorce papers.

i'm finally getting around to reading caging skies, and jojo rabbit is one of my favorite movies of all time!

i'd really like to do a roleplay inspired by the movie, more specifically the dynamic between jojo & rosie / elsa! i have a soft spot for family / platonic roleplays, and an interest in history since i was a kid!

i'd like to use an oc in jojo's role; the hitlerjugend kid. he'll likely be older though, 14 - 17 ish! more accurate to the book that way! i've got a simple oc sheet while most of his info would depend on the plot!

so, i'm hoping there's someone who'd like to take on rosie / elsa's role as the mother / sister figure! i love exploring character dynamics and relationships, especially in difficult situations or circumstances such as war. that's the main reason why i love the movie so much.

The silence that greets him is unfamiliar; nothing but the hum of the fridge and the rain pattering against the windows. Blinds half closed.

His hand slides off the door handle once he's closed the door behind him, and his feet avoid the mess on the floor like it's all he knows how to do. Making sure not to step on Olivia's discarded school bag, or knock over any of those empty shoeboxes he's yet to throw out.

He shrugs the jacket off, and a second later the keys he'd been holding hits the dresser.

Adam is beyond the point of that usual worry that comes with leaving one's child alone with their grandparents for a weekend. When you know everything is going to be fine, yet you fixate on the small, unimportant details and what might go wrong. He's not worried anymore. If anything, he's relieved.

One of the many weights had finally been lifted off his shoulders, he finally felt like he could breathe out. Stop for a moment and just relax. Who knew it's so much easier to get things done when you only have yourself to focus on?

He steps further into the apartment, letting the folder of paperwork land on the surface of the kitchen table. Next to that empty cornflakes container and the ashtray. For once, Adam lets himself sit down, sinking into the chair like it's the most comfortable thing ever. A moment of peace.
