Agnès Varda with the reels of her debut film 'La Pointe Courte', 1955
One sweaty day my friend and I picked figs at the orchard. I made it into jam for my toast.
Discordant but perfectly seeps into my heart
For Summer’s End
Summer's solstice was premature. Wrapped up in the heat of it all, just for it to retreat into secular systems of Winter; nothing primal nor instinctual, but habitual. A habit of fetishising the quietude and sombre songs. To realign with the constellations that unveil themselves in navy skies and chilled air. There is comfort but there is no sincerity in Winter. Yet for in Summertime, you must shake the soil, until the fumes of the earth surround you. Knees are grass-stained, palms are muddied; everyone knows you played. Laughter twists into limpid visions, stumbling and singing; your long-time friends know you're drunk. New women to form notions of identity, fluorescent lights beat like paddles rowing in tandem; everyone smells the tendrils of a shared cigarette intertwining into hair. It is the only season when the searing swelter strips the shame. You must blunder belligerently like it is your first time living.
Something I wrote in a seating because I’m getting emotional departing with Summer. I’ve been craving change in my life for the entire season, and it’s happening thankfully (I quit my first ever job, I’m starting my final year of uni, I’m starting an internship) but I don’t know if I can bear for the weather to shift too. I just try to catch every sunset before one day it suddenly goes dark.
I hope to meet new people, make important relationships, and create more. Lynn xx
Birthday filmmmmm hehehe
Christmas film turned out so so beautiful. So grateful I can look back on this year’s season with fond eyes.
Some recent gifts for my dearest friends. I’ve poured my adoration and dedication into each of these, rekindling my child-like love language of gift giving and creativity. A lot of weeping, hugging and kind words returned.
A sweet collection of affection
A birthday gift immortalised in analogue
My Old Americana 20th birthday party! I’ve aged! 🥲 But with the friends who are only the dearest and most fulfilling to me.
Everyone wrote me such soft and generous words to cherish for eternity, and my girls knew me so well in curating their gifts! I love people and connecting very much and can only anticipate my 20s with so much optimism and love.
Selfiee!!!!!!
About me! And an invitation to potential pen pals!
My name is Lynn and I am situated in Australia. I’ve always been a creative since I was a little girl and over the years the interests have accumulated to absurdity. In my latter overthinking teenage years, being a creative felt like a curse bestowed upon me, the endless passions in fashion, painting, films, directing, photography and writing nauseating me to grief. I’m also 20 in a few days and have no idea what I’m doing.
Slowly I came to the epiphany that I can do it all and whenever I want! Containing nothing but the knowledge that I like my eyes being fed with pretty little images and that I wanted to create like that too, last minute I decided to become a film student. I have no regrets!
I’m a cliché girl and this year I watched a lottt of French New Wave and tried to make it my whole life vision and wardrobe. My favourite currently working director is Luca Guadagnino, he makes me feel like no other (Bones and All, Cmbyn, Challengers). I love Old Americana themed films too which primarily includes Bones and All again, and Thelma and Louise. I spend too much time on Letterboxd.
I love jazz, vintage Italian soundtracks (Piero Piccioni), a lot of Blood Orange (saw him live!), soul, folk music and anything 60s/70s! I haven’t been listening to specific artists as much this year, I just love old music!
This year I really got into film photography and over the Summer I’m planning on shooting video and photos all the time.
My favourite fictional book is The Secret History but I got into non-fiction and meditative writing quite a bit this year, especially Annie Ernaux in tandem with my French New Wave moving pictures! I want to get into fiction again though, someone please recommend me exhilarating books!!!
I like white fabric, delicate and all things gentle on the eyes, but I love pops of colour and neon here and there.
I love loud annoying and funny people.
