You weren’t the most careful person, especially when walking through the city streets. You were always tripping over thin air, almost as if you didn’t know how to control your own feet, like a child. You felt stupid and couldn’t really understand how you had ended up in that situation: sitting with your right foot bandaged, waiting for Son to arrive, after a small argument between the two of you about whether or not he should pick you up from the hospital.
It didn’t take long for the man to show up, since the training center wasn’t far from there, and he was just leaving after finishing practice. He was clearly worried, which alerted some of the players who had noticed the strange way Son had answered the phone in the locker room—they’d even asked why he looked like that and immediately learned about the incident involving you.
The hospital wasn’t crowded, only a few patients that you overheard by accident while waiting, which made your care quick. As soon as you saw Heung-min stepping through the glass door, you gave him an apologetic smile, hoping you hadn’t messed up his training.
“Thank you so much for taking care of her,” Son said, flashing his charming, killer smile as he thanked the nurse who stood beside you in the wheelchair, the nurse who had stayed with you the entire time.
The nurse just smiled and headed toward a large door where patients were waiting, going to check some files on the counter.
Your cheeks flushed red remembering the conversation you’d had earlier about the man, talking about how he was always affectionate and helpful, and how the nurse had said you were lucky to have found someone as amazing as Son, especially after you’d been let down multiple times by men who didn’t seem to care at all.
“How’s your foot?” Son asked as he pushed the wheelchair toward the parking lot where the car was.
“I thought I’d broken it,” you replied, glancing at the bandage, “but it was just a sprain.”
“How did you do this?” He stopped the wheelchair next to the passenger door and opened it. Leaning on your good foot, you managed to sit in the seat with his help, though it wasn’t too difficult. Once the wheelchair was free, Son put it back where it belonged.
“I tripped on my own,” you answered, your cheeks starting to turn red.
Sonny slid into the driver’s seat and looked at you.
“On your own?”
“On my own.”
The drive to the apartment was smooth. The city was starting to glow under the streetlights flickering on, and the restaurants and bars seemed to be filling up little by little. The real trouble began when you had to walk to the elevator. You weren’t using crutches and couldn’t put weight on your injured foot. That’s when Sonny had a brilliant idea: he suddenly scooped you up bridal-style, and even though you complained, he ignored you, and the two of you stepped into the elevator.
Son did his best to cheer you up, after all, he’d been in the same position a few seasons ago. Even if you weren’t a player, he knew you were proactive and hated being stuck in one place.
“Sonny?” you called your boyfriend, and he quickly looked at your face. “How are you going to open the door?” You smiled crookedly, trying to imagine the scene, but once again were met with a mischievous grin.
“You think I’m not strong enough to carry you and open a door at the same time?” he asked. You burst into laughter when you looked at him again.
Almost like a juggler, he managed to open the door, giving it a little kick to push it wider. You were greeted by a one-and-a-half-year-old Shih-tzu, ecstatic to see you, bouncing from side to side.
Son placed you gently on the sofa and told you to wait there while he grabbed a few things he’d left in the car’s trunk. With nothing else to do, you rested your injured foot on the coffee table and began stroking the dog’s fur.
The man quickly returned with his gym bag, storing it in the laundry room, and chatted with you some more, trying to understand how you’d fallen. He wondered if it could’ve been someone malicious who had pushed you or recognized you and tried something, but that wasn’t the case.
It was already past nine at night when Son grabbed a pencil holder, actually full of pens, from the desk in the bedroom. He sat at the edge of the sofa, placed your feet on his lap while you slept, and picked out a red marker. And then he began his masterpiece.
He drew several hearts, wrote your name around them, tried to sketch Tottenham’s cockerel, and failed, and wrote the chorus of the song “BTBT,” one of the tunes you never stopped humming around the house.
Suddenly, a memory surfaced.
The cold night wrapped around the couple as they walked through the streets of London toward your home. They had just left the cinema, and since it was already late, Son decided to walk you home while you chatted about the film you’d just watched.
This was your third date. Each time, he grew more certain you were the right person for him. You had everything he was looking for in someone, and on top of that, you had an extraordinary sense of humor.
You stopped in front of your building. You hugged him tightly, and he hugged back, feeling butterflies in his stomach. The scent of your strawberry perfume made him hope and pray for the chance to smell it for the rest of his life. He wanted to be wrapped every night in the gentle embraces you always gave whenever you had the chance.
You pulled back slightly and pressed a soft kiss to Son’s lips, and he smiled, copying your gesture.
“Thanks for tonight, Sonny.”
“See you next Friday?”
“Absolutely!”
That day, he thought several times about turning back, calling your name, and confessing everything in his heart, but he held back. On another day, he would say it all when he asked you to be his girlfriend.
You still smelled like strawberries, and just as he’d wished, he got to spend every day after that breathing in that strawberry perfume.
“Sonny?” you called softly, still with your eyes half-open.
“I’m here, love.”
“Thanks for picking me up today,” you murmured, your eyes half-closed.
“At your service, always.” He smiled, glancing down and imagining your face when you saw the doodles he’d made.
“I love you, Sonny.”
“I love you too!”
And after a long day, the last image burned into your mind was Son Heung-min’s smile.

To Gojo, heartbreak had always felt like something routine in his life — ever since he was fifteen, when he finally realized that his heart beat the wrong way every time you were near. After all, if he couldn’t have you, all that was left was to suffer.
For you, however, it was a feeling entirely new and unfamiliar. Even though you’d liked a few people before, none of them had hurt as much as the last one.
It felt like your heart could skip a beat at any moment and shatter slowly, while all you could do was cry harder and harder in Nanami’s arms — your best friend, and maybe the only man Suguru wasn’t afraid to let near you.
It wasn’t just because he was your best friend—your brother knew perfectly well that Kento, if soulmates were real, would be yours, like two halves of the same whole, and that he had never once gone against your wishes. In fact, he’d been the first person you told when you’d fallen hopelessly in love with your brother’s best friend, and part of him had even been happy to hear you’d be going on a date with someone other than that silver-haired jerk.
But he regretted that happiness bitterly the moment he got your call. Kento couldn’t make out what you were saying on the other end—only your sobs and the sound of rain in the background. He asked several times where you were, and once you’d calmed down, a few whispered words slipped out, giving away your location. You were close to his place, and he was certain he was about to commit murder on the person who’d broken your heart.
And the second he saw you standing there, devastated, when he opened the door, he knew someone was going to pay.
He pulled you into his arms without hesitation, holding you tightly as more tears streamed down your face, soaking his shirt. Without much resistance, the two of you walked to his bedroom, where he led you to the bed and stayed with you, wrapped in an embrace for several minutes.
Without you knowing, Kento texted Geto. Geto didn’t reply immediately but, a few minutes later, answered in a complete panic. And if there was one thing Nanami knew about your brother, it was that he would get there as fast as possible—no matter the time or the distance, he would always show up for you.
Kento didn’t want to be that annoying person who kept pressing you for details about what had happened; he preferred to wait for you to tell him in your own time, even if your sobs made him uneasy. Eventually, they stopped, and he realized you’d fallen asleep.
It wasn’t long before Suguru—and, to Nanami’s dismay, Satoru — showed up in the bedroom door, ready to destroy anyone who dared cross their path.
"What the—" Suguru started, ready to launch into a speech, but Kento quickly cut him off with a gesture toward your sleeping figure.
Your best friend carefully adjusted you into a more comfortable position on his bed. Then he stood and stepped toward the two men, wanting to move them away from the room.
"What did that bastard do to her?" Suguru asked, one eyebrow raised, lips pressed in a thin line, his expression utterly furious.
Gojo’s eyes were locked on Nanami, and as he took in the scene, he knew one thing for certain: this wasn’t the same clown he knew, not the reckless kid who’d driven him crazy since the day they’d met. Nanami could see it — Gojo didn’t care about you just as a friend. That look in his eyes wasn’t the look of someone worried platonically.
"From what I understand, that idiot stood her up at the restaurant and didn’t give any sign of life," Nanami began to explain. "So she called me, crying, and I brought her here."
"I’m going to end that jerk!" Geto threatened, fuming with anger—so unlike Gojo, who on the outside didn’t show any reaction.
But what neither of them knew was that Satoru’s mind was louder and more chaotic than both of theirs combined. It was so noisy, he couldn’t form a single coherent thought. He couldn’t understand how anyone in their right mind could do something like that to you.
Was he furious? Absolutely. But he didn’t know how to react. He wanted to hurt someone—if Suguru looked at him right now and said, "Let’s end him," he would follow without hesitation. Yet deep down, he knew that would be a mistake—for them, and for you. Looking at the whole situation, it wasn’t worth it. They’d find a better way to get even.
Still silent, he placed a hand on Suguru’s shoulder and whispered a quick, "I’ll be right back," before heading into Nanami’s room.
When he opened the door, he found you sitting on the edge of the bed. Your eyes were puffy and red, dried tear tracks marking your cheeks, and your lips were still trembling.
He’d seen you in every mood and situation possible, but nothing compared to this moment.
"I guess I should have listened to you, ’Toru." A sad smile curved your lips, and the memories of the previous day flashed through his mind—reminding him of the scowl he’d worn when he heard you were going out.
He would destroy anyone who dared hurt you again. But first, he’d make sure to bring your smile back—the one that always made his heart skip a few beats whenever it appeared on your lips—and show you that jerk didn’t deserve your tears.
And at that moment, he thought: I’m screwed… but she’s worth it.
