Soooo... What's your favorite episode of Leverage?
The Zanzibar Marketplace Job!
Why you ask? Because it literally is a mimic of the âShindigâ episode of Firefly.
First, you have the obvious parallels:
Group of characters with dubious backgrounds come together as a strange kind of family.
Mark Sheppard.
(I smell another crossover)
But letâs look closer:
Mark Sheppard comes to the team and needs their help. Check.
Mark Sheppard manages to score team tickets to a dance. Check.
Not everyone gets into said dance and someone is left behind to grouse the whole time. Check.
Love interest of main character is at said dance with someone else. Check.
Main character gets into it with interloper (for Mal it was a duel, for Nathan it was suspecting him of being a bad guy). Check.
Leader of the group gets kidnapped/taken and the group has to come up with rescue plan. Check. (although Malâs group doesnât get to enact their plan)
Mark Sheppard comes out for the better in the end. Check.
Episode ends with main character and love interest having a drink. Check.
I may be missing some⊠but really⊠do I need anything else to prove that Zanzibar is basically a love letter to Shindig?
