You should not have to prove how badly you’re doing to receive empathy, compassion, and care. You deserve to be heard, even when you don’t appear to be falling apart.

something I thought of that might also help my disabled friends:
the reason people talk about ‘wasting your 20s’ is that they’re talking about wasting your youth and health.
there isn’t much you can do at 20 that you can’t also do at 40. or 50. or 60. it’s just that some things- like traveling the world, say, or becoming an olympic athlete- are much easier when you’re physically healthy and don’t have outside obligations.
if you’re disabled, you don’t have to worry about wasting your 20s, because the odds are that you don’t have that kind of health, and you have plenty of obligations in the form of doctor’s appointments and being the full-time caretaker of a disabled person (namely: yourself). You’re not wasting anything that you don’t have.
You can figure out how to do things on your own time. It’s okay.
Feels like a cruel joke that I simultaneously have to work harder to get the same amount done and have fewer spoons to even try

don’t be mad at yourself for not doing more. if you don’t feel well, you need rest. if you feel okay but you are struggling to start things, just try one small thing at a time.
anger at yourself is not going to help you, whether you need rest or productivity or both.
We need to talk more about this.
workplaces: we encourage people of all abilities to apply!! :)
the same workplaces: *must be able to lift 20-50 lbs unassisted for this random desk job* *must be able to kneel, bend, and stand for extended periods of time for this research position* *must be able to walk (yes I’ve literally seen this exact wording on job applications before)*
I need my back cracked like a glo stick
I. Am. In. So. Much. Pain
Me, sitting down with my coffee in front of the computer and the multitude of things I need to get done:
youre lying if you claim youve never done this

I think I already reblogged this but im gonna do it again because this is a good reminder on how toxic gatekeeping it.
I’m reblogging this for the amount of thought that was put into figuring out the necessary configuration for a mertaur wheelchair.
MMMMM, the LAYERS to this.
She’s technically a monster too. She might not look it at first glance and seems mostly human, but it isn’t deniable even despite her looks compared to the other monsters.
But she realizes that she is still not like the rest of the monsters either and may not have entirely the same experiences as them, which is why she feels that she might not belong to or deserve to go to the support group. By sometimes passing as human, she feels she isn’t worthy of the space.
The sad reality though is even though she’s mostly human in appearance, that tail she has undeniably would still cause her some struggle. Humans are still gonna look at that tail and think she’s a freak. There are probably still accommodations she needs because of the tail that she may still struggle to have access to. Even if it is just the tail, that tail is still enough to other her from humans and cause her problems and discrimination.
She should get to belong in that support group even if she gets told she’s not monster “enough”. She still shares some of the same struggles as them that are caused by being a monster, and needs support.
This is an excellent demonstration of the flaws in the concept of passing privilege. Bravo to the artist.
NOW I will reblog this.
