I’m on Dribbble! Come check out some of my work before I get anxious and delete it. Fox Insignia By Ben Kirby
Went to the Power House Museum last week and saw these bad boys at the Out of Hand: Materialising the Digital exhibition.
I’ve loved the of aesthetics of ParaNorman, and their combination of 3D printing and stop motion animation.

I’m super excited to announce that Sydney will be hosting a special screening of Late Night Work Club’s new anthology “Strangers”. It will include my new film Born in a Void as films from Sean Buckelew, Loup Blaster, Jeanette Bonds, Caleb Wood, Nicolas Menard and Kirsten Lepore (and some juiiiicey extra animation from Charles Huettner).
The Sydney screening will also see special guest appearances from Greg Sharp, Dave Carter, Peter Milliard and Jennifer Zheng
We’ll be hosting it at the artist run Red Rattler Theatre, a short walk from Sydenham Station. Its a free event, RSVP -here-
Tuesday 29th November Doors at 7pm Red Rattler Theatre, Marrickville FREE ENTRY
At the Red Rattler now, say hi! I'm the dude in the cowboy bebop tee.
Excited to see some stuff from Sydney's locals.
I went and saw Matt Groening - Simpsons creator at the Sydney Opera house for the 2016 Graphic festival. Things come full circle for my animation career, having the chance to see the man that made a giant dent in the animation industry. Also... Got an autograph and picture of Apu!!! Much thanks to my friend Randle whom graciously let me have it.
An old logo I’ve been using for a long time. I think It’s time I retired the fellow.
Had the pleasure to attend the 2016 Sydney Semi Permanent. It was a thrill view the lecturers- to see more of the bigger picture of the industry. Very humble to meet and converse with Gary Basemen. Who drew me his iconic Toby.
Much thanks to my work, National Geographic.

2016! New year. I’ve been holding myself to an animation short that hasn’t made much progress since it’s conception. If I haven’t made any progress perhaps its best to move on. Here’s some Inspirational art, from the unfinished animation SPACE BLOOD. The antagonist above is a swirling mix of coral, crystal, shark and dog. Perhaps I’lll revisit this another day!
Unused Assets!
Heres some more stuff I did on The Checkout - Genuinely, working in TV and collaborating assets you work one get changed, edited, and cut all together. Some of these are unfinished and some got improved vastly well by my seniors. IT was tough but don’t get precious with your work, If it doesn’t work with the overall theme or story it will go. As pixar says ‘As an animator you need to be a storyteller first’.
Since last March I’ve had the privilege of working on the ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corporation) television show, for a consumer affairs program-- The Checkout. Season three.
The crew was a great/awesome bunch of people, And I’m very grateful for the experience and boost of skills. Definitely something to add to the bucket list.
While I did get to be an extra it was a thrill to see my own animations on tv. Here’s a collection of work and my cameos.
Third season is over - Onto the next gig!
Sydney Vivid 2015
-Vivid Light festival is hitting Sydney. I haven’t been working on my Gif series as of late. Just been doing cool stuff. I’ve been doing some work for the ABC, animating and designing on The Checkout. More on that later.

'DOOM&SLAY' 2015 Animated User Interface Graphics set --- Happy New 2015!!! I've been experimenting with colour and effects animation lately. Here's my latest little gifs I've started working on.
Last night I saw the western release of Tale of The Princess Kaguya before its official release on the October 17, 2014.
Quite beautiful.
