Pollen Covered Petals !

I'd been bought these stunning bright flame like tulips, as a recovery gift from a very close friend who has from time to time taken me out on a photo shoot, she knows that I use many cut flowers in my little corner, studio at home :-) When I got them they were all tightly closed buds and I was really looking forwards to them opening up so I could get my lens in for a close up look. To be honest when I was getting set up for this photo it was to focus in on the stamens with their fluffy looking coverings on the outsides, but once I had them focused on my tablet connected to the camera I could see that the petals were almost covered with the yellow pollen ! I really do hope that you will enjoy this photo, I know that having been given these tulips it has helped me get back into doing things again, thanks to my friend :-) Please enjoy :-D

That Velvet Look !

So one of the really good things to come from my forced "Rest" period has been that I've been looking through and trying to sort out more of my photo's :-) To be looking through folder after folder can sometimes get a little tedious, but then you come across one with a whole load of beauties and then you start to wonder, where did they come from and why have I not uploaded them before ? The thing is with this photo the title had just seemed obvious even before I'd taken it, only last summer (Aug 2017) seems such a long time ago now, as it was the velvety sheen to the petal that had caught my eye ! Strange how you can remember something as clearly as that from just a photo, yet I struggle to know why or what I went into another room in the house for ? I do hope that you will all enjoy this lucky find photo. Thank You :-D

Folds Within Folds

So the third photo in this opening mini series is this photo, what I really like about this is the glimpse of more to come as the petals are opened and the large purple splodges of the interior are revealed, even as this is done the colours of the petals are changing through a whole range of shades from light pink to orange edges and the warm scarlet of the folds in the central petals. Slowly Unfurling !

I really thought that it was a stroke of luck, that when I did manage to get out the front for this photo session there were flower buds in different stages of opening up this one has broken free from the constraints of the green bud, but still has a little while to open fully. I'm hoping that you will all enjoy this photo :-) Thank You.

Please tell us What He is Saying ?

To me it looks as if the saracenia flowers are having some sort of gossip time and the smaller tubes, which are the plants modified leaves, are stretching up trying to listen in and the bottom flower has bent down to tell them to be quiet and wait until later, then they will be spoken too ;-) Or maybe it's just a bunch of flowers on long stems above the main plant so as the seed, once produced, have a better chance of a wider dispersal ? Anywho ! I like the first version :-) and I'm hoping that you will all enjoy and like this photo too :-) Thank You.

Breaking Free !

I have these oriental poppies growing out the front in a raised bed as it's easier for me to take care of them, plus it's not so far to bend over the camera when I want to have a photo session out there, I've been watching them as the foilage first appeared, for some reason or another though, weather not being suitable or not feeling up to it, I've had to wait ! So when I saw that the flower buds were starting to open up I made a concerted effort to get the tripod out one afternoon and set up for a session with them. I'm hoping that you will enjoy this photo :-) Thank You.

Arranged by Nature !

I have these roses, and the grasses in what is now the nursery border, as where they were planted is undergoing major revamping, when I can get out there, as I did not want these to get damaged, earlier in the year they were all moved, I was hoping that the sudden uprooting and replanting would not stop the rose from flowering, it seems to have settled in nicely, I think ! :-)?

Fire in the Borders !

Another good thing about all the recent rain we have had, or having (summer 2015) ;-) is that everything is doing really well and the growth is just rampant in the borders, this crocosmia is shining out so hot you can almost warm your hands on the glow ! I know that loads of people have a problem with this plant as it seems to spread, vigorously, well one way to deal with it's spread is to put it in a bottom less container, this needs to be as big as the space you want the plants to fill, if you have an old pot from a large plant, maybe a small tree, or failing that a cheap plastic bucket with the bottom removed, this means it will not rot the corms, which will only spread to the sides of the container and as they are shallow rooted will not escape out the bottom, job sorted ! Preparing to Seed !

So we're at the back end of, 2016, for this photo. I'd picked up these gerbera's from town, quite possibly have already uploaded some of them when in full flower, but when this one's stem started to wither I didn't want to just throw it out as it had already started to go over to seed, ah ! I thought let's keep an eye on that one and maybe I'll get a little more value out of it ? It's only just starting as the petals are still fresh and have that bright colour to them, rather than being dried out and dull. I'm hoping that you will all enjoy this photo. Thank You :-D

Pollen Wrap

When I was setting this photo up I was intrigued by the glossy wet looking part to the stamen that I could see on the tablet screen as I was trying for a really close up look at the pollen grains, I'm not sure what the fluid is, it may well be that it's nectar ? Lost on the Edge

Another photo from the "bargain" lilies, the stamens when opened were throwing their pollen everywhere, it even covered the top of the coffee table they were sitting on making it all sticky. This pollen had not made it that far, but I did like the little clusters it had made so near to the edges of the petals. I'm hoping that you will enjoy this photo. Thank You :-)

Surprised Myself !

Well, I don't really know if this happens to anyone else when you download your photo's to the computer and start to review them on screen and your clicking for the next then the next and although they look fantastic and you like the photo's, none of them really shout out at you ? Well I was working through these gerbera photo's thinking ooh that's a possible for uploading, when this one just hit me and made me stop and really look ! I could not believe it was one of mine or even remember taking it, I know that I sometimes get lost in trying to get that just so macro photo, but normally come away from a camera session thinking umm I've got a few good ones there ! This one had just slipped right under the radar, very glad that it did as it's nice to be stopped in your tracks and surprise yourself now and again ! Standing Proudly !

I don't know about anyone else, but when you download your photo's to the camera hoping that you have a few good frames, then when you open them up full screen you just marvel at an amazing photo that you think "That's not Mine" it's that impact it has that takes you by surprise when you can not remember taking it, but really glad that it's come out so well ! Revealing it’s Pollen

Another photo from my tulip's session, something that makes me wonder is the way in which these pollen pads have split and folded back on themselves to expose all the grains within, such perfect little containers for that precious cargo that they carry. The Last Hug

This was the third day after cutting these poppies, I didn't expect them to last very long, mainly because I was not sure just how long they had been open outside, when I picked them I picked those that looked the freshest :-) So when I came in and saw that the flowers had shed all their petals onto the table top, my first thought was I'll have to clean them up ! Then again once I'd sat down and had been looking to see just how they had fallen, the next thought was I'll get set up with the camera and do another set :-) This photo looks like to me that these two petals have fallen down but the one on top is trying to sheild or hug it's friend, what I really love about this photo though is the wide range of colours that are spread right across the top petal, increadible ! I do really hope that you all enjoy this photo. Thank You :-D

On Fire !

When I saw this photo I thought "Oh looks like that tip has been burnt" Inspiration for the title, along with the fact that these petal tips looked like little flames :-) Another photo from my freebie Gerbera's, just so glad that I went back and complained, even happier that these photo's have turned out so nice, but I'll let you be the judge on that :-) I do hope that you will enjoy this photo. About to Fall !

I make no apologies for the Gerbera photo overload that's about to start, so fasten your seat beats, strap yourself down, Here we go !!! Ha ha

Ok so over the last few days I have been really captured by these gerbera's and have been getting slowly closer and closer, using every bit of equipment I have to get that desired photo. I have been trying to get the pollen grains which are incredibly fine, but I do believe that you have to push your limits. In this photo one of the flower heads had started to nod and I thought that it may have been a repeat of the wilting stems, from another bunch, but it was just tired I guess as it stopped at this angle, which was lovely to see the pollen just hanging in mid air, well other than the stuff that was covering the table top below it, it was that, that I saw first when I came back into my little corner. I'm hoping that you will enjoy this photo. Thank You all :-)
