no apology in the world can redeem a sexual abuser. victims of sexual abuse suffer their entire LIFE because of it, while abusers might feel guilty at most.

keep this in mind before you praise famous men who admit to and apologize for sexually abusing people. they should feel bad. they should be rejected by society. they deserve no help or sympathy whatsoever.

The Max Factor Museum is located at Highland & Hollywood Boulevard right next to Mel’s Diner, still dazzling with decadence, and pretty in pink since 1928. The building was designed by famed architect S. Charles Lee in Hollywood Regency / Art Deco style Aside from aiding in the transformation of Norma Jeane to Marilyn Monroe, Max Factor has made so many contributions to the world of beauty, with his innovative inventions and cutting edge cosmetics. Immigrating from Russia to Hollywood in 1904, the Factor family saw the opportunities in the growing film industry, and began offering made-to-order wigs, and theatrical cosmetics. In 1918, he developed “Color Harmony,” which was a range of face powders that allowed him to customize any color for any actress. He was also responsible for many of the distinguishable characteristics of many stars, such as Clara Bow’s heart shaped lips and Jean Harlow’s signature Platinum blonde. As Technicolor film developed, he then created his “pan-cake” series, as film stars were very unhappy with how they were looking in color, refusing to appear on screen. Pan-cake concealed all skin imperfections under a transparent matte finish. Lastly, Max Factor is responsible for coining the term “Make-up,” as if to make up, and create a new face. It took nine years to restore the Max Factor Building to its original splendor, with its rose-colored lobby of lavish marble, re-invented historical chandeliers, pastel hues, antique furniture, and trompe l’oeil, finished with faux 22 karat gold and silver leafing and gilt. The monster who touched me up while I was drunk, probably for 15 minutes before I even registered what was happening, in my boyfriend’s own living room has been accused of taking advantage of (raping) a girl while she drunk. While I feel fucking awful for that poor girl, and I wish it didn’t happen that way, he’s been ostracized from his community and all his friends. They all hate him and THAT IS THE WAY IT SHOULD BE. And I wish it happened that way the first couple of times for me way back. Instead of friends calling them “perverts” as a blasé joke and carrying on with their lives. Of course I wish this wasn’t something I didn’t have to talk about but IT MAKES MY HEART HAPPY WITNESSING RAPISTS FACE CONSEQUENCES. I find it sooooo funny (aka annoying) that straight people will never truly understand the real goals of the gay community

Like they think all we want is to be treated like everyone else. To not be ostracized for being who we are. And they’re right.

But then they take this goal they think we have and somehow in their tiny Het brains it translates to “they want to be seen as straight people, they want to conform, they want gay to become a meaningless label”

So then ally culture becomes “I don’t see gay people as any different, I don’t care about sexuality, the only difference between us is who we love etc.”

And they completely miss the point that we loooove being gay. We love pride, we love talking about our sexuality and how it affects us (if we’re safe to do so) we love having a sense of community and belonging.

What’s gross about this mindset is it stems from the fact that straights cannot even fathom treating gay people like their equals without erasing our identity and forcing us to conform. “I don’t care about your sexuality, I still love you” is false allyship, and in the long term does more harm than good. What gay people truly want is “I see your sexuality, I recognize that your struggles and goals are different than mine, and I’m still going to treat you like a human and give you the rights you deserve”

If you can’t see me as your equal while also recognizing that I’m a lesbian, you are not an ally.
