‘Phantoms of Barry’

This is my first time using collage as an art medium. With Marshall Brown being my inspiration, I tried to make an architectural statement connecting Barry Farms, liminal spaces, and collective/individual memories.

As a collective, Barry Farm journey started once the 375-acre land was purchased and distributed to the black community. Unfortunately, the conditions and hardships made it so that the community is forever changing. Even right now we’re still transitioning from an abandoned historical site to a more gentrified community. Will it end? When are we going to reach a destination that we can agree on?

Not as individual’s, but as a true collective.

The phantoms are still daunting with a gloomy presence.

Just waiting for the moment they & us can call it a home.
