Saw Patrick Wolf at the Lafayette on Monday and it was everything I could have wanted (and more, as they say).
I had been looking forward to that concert for literally years. I thought I would never see him live again. So being there on Monday was extraordinary.
I easily made first row without breaking a sweat and I met so many lovely people in the pit. Patrick just has the best fans.
A definite highlight was Dodona ( I just realise there's a typo on the setlist), it's become one of my fave songs. The Magic Position was great as always and the version of Wind in the Wires was very special.
It wouldn't have been Patrick if the evening wasn't fraud with a bit of chaos and the looming threat of disaster about to happen though 😅😂 the harp fell, and a couple of other instruments were close to toppling over.
The cable kept wrapping around the monitors and microphone stand, so watching it was nerve wracking...
He also pranced around a lot and the stage was tiny (he likened it to being in an antique shop and I think that is fitting 😜. I needed to save my mobile from being stepped on several times and the man next to me ducked out the way of the harp...
Patrick was so amazing. Over the last couple of months he battled his way back onto stage and now he's back and he owns his live concerts in a way he didn't before. I almost forgot what kind of presence he has on stage, after witnessing all these intimate studio sessions. (He's also freakishly tall...)
Still buzzing here. Best night, ever.
