I wasn't drinking much for a year or two (like glass of champagne or a bottle of beer during some holidays) and completely sober for three or four months, but I think that popping a bottle of champagne is a great symbol of celebration.
Like you grip a bottle by its neck, gently unwrap foil and slowly build pressure with your fingers until it cums pops. Great vibes, white bubbly stuff dripping down your hands and cold green bottle, you desperately trying to save the situationby licking the bottle and your hands. And still you're still end up completely wet, sticky and exited.
