Max had barely finished pouring the cranberry juice before she was taking the drink from him. He straightened and watched her take a sip, frown holding to his features and touching his blues. He felt the need to scowl initially at her comment about having fun, but bites it back in order to wait out what else she had to say. As she continued he couldn't disagree-- this was a lame excuse of a party. The music was subpar, the liquor of choice cheap, and despite several forms of Hatchetfield royalty moving about? It sucked fucking ass. The last good party they had was at Kyle's dad's lake house and that was before school starter back up. Now? With the weather creeping in on cooler-- it was like any house party was just trying to be better than the last and failing miserably. They needed a rager. Which, speaking of...

His phone buzzed in his pocket and he quickly fished it out, grumbling a low, "Hold on--" before checking what it was. It was Brad Callahan, the previous quarterback and now community college asshole. He was letting Max know that the party he'd heard rumors about was in fact in full swing out at the lake near the Witchwood. Bonfires, barrel fires, and plenty of warm beer (gross). He thumbed back a less than properly written message before shoving the device back into his pocket. When he looked back to Regina he was fastening a grin to his face-- one that shone almost too brightly for a guy who had just been pissed off and annoyed. "Callahan just texted me. Told me about another party that wasn't as open in invites and might be more our scene."

He knew before they left he'd tell Jason and Kyle about it, maybe Brenda and Staci-- but anyone else? Not worth his fucking time. Regina could invite her girls if she wanted, but he wasn't about to propose to her that she do just that. He didn't care much for her friends or whoever she associated with that wasn't him. Perhaps that was controlling, perhaps that was fucked, but Max kept tabs on his most liked and she was one of them. He'd date her if he didn't think she'd cheat on him with someone nowhere near as hot as him.

“ i don't like that look on your face, knock it off, ” the slightest bit of annoyance, disgust, even coming into play on her expression. her eyes roll as she thinks to herself, what does max even have planned that has him smiling like that? when he shares, her own look softens and her eyebrow raises, “ better be a better party, because if it's as lame as this one, you're walking home. ” a small feigned look of pity crosses her face. she wouldn't actually make him walk home, but he doesn't need to know that. she needs to have some sort of open leverage against him to get what she wants. what she wants tonight is to get blasted, and this party was proving not be the place to do that.

as she ponders the question before giving an answer, her vodka cranberry being brought up to her lips as she lets a smile slide. “ callahan? ” he knows how to throw a party. pursing her lips together, she narrows her eyes. “ the real question is, are you going to be jealous if i flirt with the college boys? ” a soft exhale that could be mistaken for a laugh escapes her. “ whatever, yeah. i'm down. ” flipping her hair over her shoulder she sets her drink down with intentions of just leaving it and tilts her head at him.

regina reaches her hand out to him, making a scene of the whole thing. her hand gesturing for him to take hers. “ are you coming or are you going to chill here with the freaks and weirdos? ” sure, she's aware of the fact that some of their friends, the most popular kids in hatchetfield are also included in what she had just said. but she had said what she said.
