“... so, on a scale of one to ten, this might sound odd also... how much do you want to bet the archbishop of this place hasn’t touched a woman or really anything to do with such things?”
Of course his reasoning for asking was due to hearing the rather unusual laws here. Plenty of it was not to do the more physical aspect of things before marriage, the odd part was the fact he was threatening people with being kept in prison for it and even whipped. Then again he also heard that there was executions done over it. Stupid zealots and the like, he thought to himself.
“Only asking because who in their right mind orders a public humiliation for dates and other things tomorrow if not married.”
As was mentioned the Cursed Knight’s bloodline continued in one person who inherited his curse and more. True name Astrid Wentz Holweck due to the queen’s forced marriage, Heino Weiss as she was later called upon being found, in a twist of irony due to her father’s nickname, and re-named by a unknown family that found her. However, Heino’s life did not improve since being removed from the castle. In fact, it was quite the opposite since she was alienated and more by her peers in the small village of Lucester whenever it existed.
One may wonder how Lucester was wiped from the map but the answer is obvious. Basti had discovered where she was and ordered his men to ensure she was killed there by using the villagers. The villagers were to beat her to submission then execute her as part of charges that were invented for that purpose. Unfortunately for the village, it was the push necessary for Heino’s Vuzarich lineage to awaken which resulted in the entire village being wiped from the map and a curse to be placed on the lands.
The curse being the result of her awakening in addition to her losing control until a traveling elven priestess known only to her as No’ah had arrived to calm her. The then infernal rage driven Heino found herself stopped, she moved at first to strike her where she stood as she spoke and yet there was something that prevented her from doing so.
A common belief is that at the sight of this beautiful and pure hearted elven priestess, the rough and foulmouthed yet blunt princess had fallen in love. Though the priestess wasn’t alone and had one more charge, Sinne Kasteler, her personal guardian and adopted son had taken up protecting her. Like Heino, Sinne had faced hardship in life due to being mixed blooded. Elven on two sides, regular and dark elf which left him with a lot of distrust and abuse from his peers. As well as shunned by others for being a man amongst the matriarchal society.
Heino herself had thought him to be too ‘boring’ and much too ‘honest’ for her own tastes. Mostly due to her being similar on the ‘honest’ part with her blunt tongue taking the reins whenever irritated enough by the actions of others. While being carried out the village, she soon found herself being offered the opportunity to travel with this beautiful elven priestess.
Miron of course still was hunting her during their travels but he had yet to find her, perhaps by No’ah’s own decision Heino was kept by her father due to similar yearnings felt between the two of them. A similar reaction shared which resulted in much like her father, Heino to find herself smitten deeply.
Known as Miron ‘Weiss’ Wentz, the Cursed Knight started as a young adventurer before soon being drawn into the man known as Bête Noire, Makar Reverdin’s decision to break apart norm’s of the world by poisoning it with his illness. The infection turns those plagued with it into men and women that act only on desires and whims of their own to corrupt. Prior to their meeting, Miron would adventure with the woman who later became the queen of Barnsil which neighbored the city known as Prasa, his birth place, and had a long since formed romance with her which later changed after that man came into their lives.
A promise was made by him as he weaved tales in disguise of something unknown which would allow young Miron to ascend to nobility. The catch of course was that he must travel to the place he specified and seek it himself, with his beloved only being allowed to wait for him somewhere safe at the entrance of this long since dead and emptied out citadel. By the time Miron reached it, found this artifact which Makar spoke of, he soon found himself in agony as thousands upon thousands of the dead screamed. Voices all in unison as they demanded to be freed, the sword he held only glowed and shimmered at the prospect of violence the more he heard them.
It was in this moment that it soon was turned against him, rammed into his stomach and soon enough after, he found himself awake with injury gone and the undead surrounding him. The dead corpses began to call him their king, pleading almost to run free to conquest in his name which at the time was rejected. Years later after that only then did Miron ride with his undead legion, not in the name of conquest, but the name of revenge.
The queen, Miron’s beloved and only true one at that, was taken by human then turned lich and recently crowned king of Barnsil, Basti Baum Holweck. The act happening only when Miron was forced to travel with the dragon woman known as the goddess of Magic, Synne Rosenzweig as she began calling herself, after she was removed from the others for being found ‘lowly’ and ‘filthy’ which separated her from her beloved Agaue.
Miron’s travels with her had him meet a number of people but it was on that day he returned home and discovered the news, that he was exiled, not allowed to see her after impregnating her at that not long before Basti had forced her to marry him... he found himself having had snapped. Guards upon guards sent after him found dead, many of them tried to end his life but soon found out something terrifying that not even Miron himself knew until then.
He had become undying, cursed with flesh that would return to how it looked prior to such injuries. Not only that, but it unlocked a unfortunate gift parted to him by his bloodline that Goddess Synne herself enhanced by passing it through his seed and in him at that. Miron became what was known in that country as the first ever Vuzarich. A man with infernal blood that was also undead.
The undead of the forgotten citadel known as Auglire had soon arrived during this sea of corpses left by Miron and took him finally into their fold as their leader. Now clad in blackened armor, his face and more had changed once taking his rightful place as ruler. However, Miron’s revenge would not allow his conquest to begin yet. His one desire as time progressed was to find the child his beloved carried, his blood, his daughter which would carry his curse and infernal blood.
❛ it’s unnecessary for them to do such a thing —— they’re looking for someone. ❜ who that someone was, it was anybodys guess. so many people wanted, so many people running away. who was the one today? who will be the one tomorrow?
❛ hide your face when we go through any. ❜
“... I figured I would have to.”
A bounty on his head was the hard part of these checkpoints though he knew why it existed. A prison break, interrupting an execution, treason, the list of crimes goes on for him down to committing regicide due to killing one of the prince’s who decided to attempt stopping them with his wicked magic.
“Don’t forget yours, that overgrown dog of ours would get annoyed if she has to transform to save us if we both don’t watch it.”
another war, then. ❛ how tiresome .. does he not grow exhausted with how many invasions he has done recently? ❜ the amount of magic this man used for a single invasion .. is this part of his rumored curse? to never feel exhaustion? if that’s the case, surely there’s not means of besting him and yet ..
❛ if we come across him while on this patrol, we run away. we can’t attack him head on nor can we hope to gain a upperhand in this state. ❜ how does mortal overcome immortality?
“Truthfully I’m not certain. I only heard that there was a child who seems to be his kin discovered amongst the more ‘chatty’ out of those corrupt officials. They weren’t pleased by this, so it could perhaps mean he’s searching for this child.” A man that is never exhausted is definitely more dangerous to fight than the run of the mill demons, skeletons, monsters, and other things that were out there. But why was he so hell bent on waging war for one child? He isn’t certain nor will he know now of all times.
There was something unusual about it, mortals were weak compared to this man so surely he could just find this child he was after himself without causing disturbances? Unless of course he had a reason for it. “I suppose if we see his legions we’ll have to run in general... the undead are always a pain to deal with, especially when they’re from his army.”
@hexenjagd said: ( pre banishment ) blows into his ear as if to jolt him awake, " Your captain is tapping his foot, mr. velten. "
It was that which broke him fully from his stupor by how he jolted, back straightening out, attention given and seeing the man almost look as if he were a wary father that just found out his son was dating. A nervous smile was on his lips at this point but he knew what that look meant. He was surely about to be reprimanded for being at his post while tired as he had done with others quite often. Although he supposed it wasn’t all bad, given Heidmarie usually was amused by the reasons at times behind him being lectured and got a front row seat this time.
Then again, he almost seemed to be certain she was wanting to laugh given her man, him, was in trouble for being unable to rest properly due to additional work interrupting his sleep. “S-Sir! My apologies!” Was what he said loudly, a bit too loudly, though the captain sighed and shrugged it off for the time being. Oh thank heavens.
@hexenjagd said: ( pre banishment ) just casually leans against the knight despite others being around, this'll spark more rumors on their relationship but when was she one to care?
There was a brief moment he tugged himself out of dozing due to barely sleeping the previous night over the disturbances that came up during the evening. He almost seemed out of it, just a little, though he shifted to put an arm around her much to the confusion of the other knights and got comfortable once more.
They all were wondering just why he was doing this. She was the court wizard, he was a simple farmers son turned knight. The concept most likely baffled them he figured. Especially with how happy he seemed to be at the moment with her of all people.
❛ are you certain it was here? i don’t quite feel anything .. though, there is something faint left in the air. magic residue, so something .. was? here. i can’t even fully tell, it’s too faint. ❜ something boded ill about this, there’s no way something could’ve been here and left fast enough to diminish the magic within the air to near zero unless .. ❛ rune, can the legion conceal itself? ❜
“If they did, it explains why the crops were reported as dying. Some of the sick were screaming in their sleep... even the animals are scared of coming out.” This made things dicey, lovely. Though he knew just what this could mean, that man never was one to show his face, he only rode to town clad in armor and helmet covering his face... the legion itself was worrisome since they were undead. Undead men who swore their unlife to him and their loyalty to that man. “This probably might make the king uneasy with the others, he’s never wandered this close to civilization before without the intent of invading.” Which would mean war.
❛ you rarely ask for the court wizard herself to accompany you on a patrol. is there something you need me to be a sensor for? ❜ @pferdchen·
“Somewhat, there was rumors going around the Cursed Knight showed his face in the area and the people are unsettled due to his death legions being a possibility.” After all, those legions would drain the life out of others if he was around. At least if fairy tales about the Cursed Knight are to be believed involving his men.
