There is a silence where hath been no sound. There is a silence where no sound may be. In the cold grave, under the deep deep sea.
The Piano | 1993 | dir. Jane Campion
Look, in my opinion, the best thing you can do is find a person who loves you for exactly what you are. Good mood, bad mood, ugly, pretty, handsome, what have you, the right person is still going to think the sun shines out your ass.
Juno (2007) dir. Jason Reitman
One of my biggest inspirations: Diablo Cody.
Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie dir. Mandie Fletcher (2016)
Paint It Black dir. Amber Tamblyn (2016)
First Comes Courage dir. Dorothy Arzner (1943)
This week I’ve bern teaching my artsstudents a few gorey make up tecniques. All these using toiletpaper and glue. The scars are colludium, but I stayed away from the liquid latex since they’re underaged and it would’ve been irresponsible of me to have them breathe such toxic fumes. They had fun! Most students who usually hate arts-class participated! And the nurses office had quite a few comedic visits.
Shonda Rhimes is living proof that women can shout their accomplishments
Rhimes refers to this rush of love as “the hum,” the result of an imprecise mix of genius, hard work, and a fear of failure. But, like so many titans — and regular people — Rhimes realized the hum was not sustainable without more emotional vulnerability.

YESSSSSSS
Today I talked to my eightgrade students in art-vlass about some iconic pictures. I showed them this photo called "lunch stop a skyscaper" and asked them what they thought it represented. A quiet voice in the back of the class responds: "Hashtag squad-goals."
i’ll only make a couple of characters and they’ll all have something important to do with each others plot!
Can i for once just make a film WITH ONE PROTAGONIST?
amazon. Update!
Last night I finished watching the latest version of this 89 minute thing i somehow created. I took a few weeks to breathe since i last worked on it, to see it with new eyes. I was asto ished of how mich we’ve accompished within the uear sonce the first pitch and i wrote the first few pages of script. Now awaits a few weeks of grading, sound and finishing up before we can stage a grand premiere. Just in time for me to start the next project.
No rest for the creative. Love, Phine 🎬

Leaving Holes
Your story is 50% reader. It’s that mixture of reader and writer that makes the magic.
Which means your story needs to have holes for the reader to fill in. You need that negative space for the puzzle pieces to fit.
I’m not talking about plot holes, I’m talking about giving one sentence the power of two. A book that means what it says is a mediocre book. A book that means more than what it says is a great book.
Don’t over-develop your characters, having them analyze every feeling, or spelling out what every character in a scene is thinking. Don’t follow up a powerful line with an explanation with what makes that line powerful.
Let your words imply as much as they state.
it can be so so hard sometimes, cuz i gotta remember i can trust my readers
And it can be hard to know WHICH holes to leave. You don’t want to leave any ‘this doesn’t make sense’ holes, but you do want to leave ‘insert your interpretation here’ holes.
this is the most important think I have ever learned about writing
I need to remind myself of this when i do scripts. My characters are allways too descriptive of their feelings.
this information is so satisfying but idk what to do with it
Just reblog it.
