So this just happened on my @spotofmummery Tumblr account and I have no idea why. I've put in a support contact and am praying I can get my account back.

All I was doing at the time was editing a sideblog's custom theme code. I'm not sure why that would get my account terminated. Will keep this updated.

I shared this on a gpose tips & tricks post on bsky that I'll share here too incase someone finds it helpful :) When using DoF, I like to give some distance between the character and the surrounding areas, so that the area of focus around my character is sharp while the areas in the foreground and background is blurry. DoF ref from photographylife.

Vanilla gpose has the DOF option, but I prefer using CinematicDOF shader as it has better manual control and the blur is smoother. I recommend it on Manual-focus plane and turning off auto mode for better control of focus and strength of the blur (Far plane max blur and Near plane max blur).

I love using DoF! Especially for cinematic Gposes since I want the character(s) to be the main focus. Additionally, I like using it to soften details a bit, especially when it comes to foliage edges!

Ashen's Autumnal Abode!

Hello everyone. We spin around the sun on this wretched Etheirys one more autumnal season, and without a housing slot increase, so here I am offering a little design that I hope to expand on one day. I built tall for this one! Normally I like really tiny and cramped spaces, but this time I wanted to use as much of the atrium in a Large that I could manage, while bringing back some stairs and a hallway.

Ideally, I want a room off to the side and a bedroom on the top floor, and I built the structure in a way I can maybe add to it one day. I can also make the kitchen bigger and will renovate that.

Can you see the vision I was trying to work with? I made louvered doors with a little 'look out' on the ground floor. I made the kitchen carve out of stone as a precursor of things to come once we get more slots. There's lore in my house! This isn't copium!

FFXIV Gpose: Using the New Color Filter Intensity Slider to Add Vibrance

Hello! I'm far from an expert gposer, just someone who likes to play around and take screenshots of my elf. We've gotten some really great additions to the gpose interface with patch 7.3, and I thought this would be a good opportunity to point out some features that can make a shot pop a little more--if you're a vanilla gposer, if you don't use shaders, or if you just want to try something new.

I've been a fan of the Bright 4 color filter even before this patch. Though its applications are limited and situational, I've found it works really well with nighttime shots, and generally adding vibrance to shots that would otherwise be dark and muddy. But with the addition of an intensity slider for color filters, the usefulness of this feature is dramatically increased! If you just want to add a little bit of subtle vibrance to a shot, a carefully adjusted color filter can help.

Let's set up our shot first, a simple teatime on the garden deck during daytime with strong outdoor lighting. We have a lot of browns and neutrals in this shot, including Ariane's outfit, but also some pops of green from the lawn and garden, purple from the wisteria tree, adn blue from Ariane's clothing and the teacup. Here's the basic shot, no lights or filters added yet.

This is what the shot looks like with Bright 4 at full intensity. It's too much, so everything looks orange, and I would not have used Bright 4 for this shot before the update.

But now we can try a much lower intensity. Here's the original, and an intensity of 10, 20, and 30:

Bright 1 is another filter I recommend playing with situationally. Where Bright 4 adds warm vibrance and will make everything look orange at high intensity, Bright 4 has a green tint.

It's more limited in its usefulness, as a green filter will tend to make a scene look unnatural or unsettling, but it can have its uses, especially in shots with lots of foliage where the green is what you want to highlight.

Here's some low-intensity comparisons for Bright 1 as well:

I'm going to go with Bright 4 at an intensity of 15 for this shot, and I think I'll add some face lights as well. I like to pull the blue light forward just a little bit, to highlight the cool colors against the warm filter and make the whites look true.

And here's a side-by-side of the original shot and my final version. The changes are subtle, but they make a difference.

Gleaner's Guildroom

I tried to design a temporary lodging for Gleaners that they stay in while they're traveling in Labyrinthos doing fieldwork. This one might be specifically focused on Erenville and my headcanons for him - for instance, that he enjoys painting the landscapes and creatures that he sees (hence the Marsh Ligaka painting by the desk!).

The space is meant to feel like a short-term rental/hotel quarters with little details of the current tenant; for Erenville, I imagined that he's mostly cleanly but his research can get a little out of hand after long nights of study, but he's not too messy. imo he's only going to have what he can carry in his pack, so personal items are sparse.

I'm figuring out how to host the MakePlace file so I can share the build for free - until then, feel free to come gpose if you'd like! I'll be sure to repost when I have the MP file ready!

Gpose locations!

To go along with my screenshot tutorial, here’s a collection of areas I really like going to for screenshots. It’s not an exhaustive list, but these are some of my favourites.

Edit: Adding in some old screenshots I’ve taken in these locations as examples

OVERWORLD ZONES

La Noscea

Lets start with Costa Del Sol. There are some rocks out in the water you can stand on if you want a nice, uninterrupted view of the ocean.

The areas around Camp Bronze Lake in Upper La Noscea are super pretty. This was taken early in the morning, but when it’s all lit up on a sunny day, the water is really beautiful.

Black Shroud

The Carline Canopy in Gridania has these beautiful windows that make a pretty backdrop.

How much have you explored the Sylphlands? There’s some really weird and interesting spots out there.

It also has this spooky blue lighting.

Mor Dhona

There’s this neat crystal tree at Rathefrost in Mor Dhona. The zone can also get the unique Gloom Weather which I caught here.

HEAVENSWARD

I didnt manage to get screenshots of these because I’m not bothered waiting out in the zones for them. Rather than specific locations, the Sea of Clouds and Churning Mists both get unique Wind and Lightning weathers. The sea of clouds sky turns green and looks like an aurora. If you manage to catch these weathers, they can make for really cool backdrops.

OTHARD

I took these at night…during the rain…trust me, they look a lot nicer normally. Anyway, there’s this isolated little spot in Yanxia with these pretty trees.

The Doman Enclave has some great spots too, unfortunately you would need to progress through the weekly restoration questline to see the zone in all it’s glory.

GYR ABANIA

This is actually one of my favourite spots for screenshots. While it may not look like anything special here, it has all these nice flower bushes. I’ve taken a number of screenshots zoomed in close using these flowers as a backdrop. Speaking of flowers..

The Menagerie of course has to make an appearance. I must be really unlucky though, because near every time I’ve gone out there to try to take screenshots, people have been up there and start photobombing me.

THE FIRST

While there are a lot of nice spots in Lakeland, I find this cliff edge to be a great location if you want the crystal tower in the background. It’s maybe better than Mor Dhona (if you can angle out the crystarium below) because you don’t have a dragon corpse and gloomy weather in the way.

All of Il Mheg is amazing. The flowering fields by the shore are great though, and the fountain right outside the castle doors has a lot of big, beautiful flowers in it (Do you notice I really like flowers?)

This one spot in Rak’tika is nice for a wild forest backdrop.

Amaurot…oh Amaurot. There’s no specific spot here, this whole cityscape is amazing.

HOUSING AREAS

I’m not going to look for all the cool spots, but each housing area has a lot of really nice locations, some are kind of hidden away (like the little hotspring seacave in Shirogane there). Not to mention all the yards people decorate.

DUNGEONS

I’m only showing the ShB dungeons in explorer mode here, but you can also go into the lvl 70 dungeons. Any dungeons before that aren’t available for explorer mode, but you can easily solo your way through them at max level, you just wont have access to a striking dummy if you want combat poses.

Chances are, when you go running through dungeons focusing on killing things, you aren’t noticing a lot of the cool places in them.

This is one of my favourite locations in the whole game. The forest path leading up to the first boss in Holminster Switch looks like a magical forest, and the light shafts coming through the trees make it even better.

The final boss area of Mt Gulg makes a really magestic, holy looking background.

You want an apocalyptic hellscape? Amaurot has you covered.

And of course, the final boss platform in the same dungeon has this amazing backdrop.

Extra little tidbit to think about for Endwalker, notice how there’s no moon in the sky in Amaurot ;)
