#probably stranger things tbh #the story started falling apart in season 3 when they introduced the dumb “scary evil russians” plotline #and then just kept falling apart the more they overcomplicated things and kept introducing more and more convoluted plot threads #i honestly havent even watched the show in so long (like. since 2022) and i haven't seen season 5 #so i don't necessarily have any specific plot changes i'd make because tbh i've forgotten most of the plot except for the basics #but like. i don't remember why the russians were even a thing? like huh #why couldn't show have just focused on like. yknow. the us government performing fucked up mk ultra-esque experiments on people #and in the process accidentally opening the upside down and shit #like dude #i also think the story would've been way better as an anthology series like it was intended to be #because the show has a problem with muddying up the main cast by constantly introducing new characters #(usually for the purpose of killing them off later in order to give the viewer the illusion that the show has stakes)#(despite not being ballsy enough to actually kill a major character)#(like cmon dude. hopper should've died so that the whole dumbass russian prison escape arc could've been cut)#like. if the show was an anthology of smaller self-contained stories that all built up to the overarching main plot #then it could've gotten away with introducing all these characters and stuff #because their stories and character arcs would be more focused and contained #i think this would also fix the problem of certain characters being sidelined in favor of the newbies #because like. as much as i like eddie as a character #he got WAAAY too much screentime in season 4 #while lucas. one of the MAIN CHARACTERS who's been around since SEASON ONE was completely shafted #which i mean. i suspect that was a racism thing because tbh stranger things is kinda super racist too #because like. wow okay. your token black character gets relegated to comic relief #while the brand new white character gets an entire character arc #not to mention the way argyle wasn't shown the same treatment as eddie despite appearing in the same season #and having roughly the same amount of screentime (if not slightly more tbh? because eddie was off screen for a bit)#he was still relegated to comic relief with no substance which is fine. not every character has to be complex to be entertaining #but when the few poc in your cast are severely lacking in depth when compared with the various complex and layered white characters #i'm going to side-eye you #idk man stranger things is a mess
