I still think about how Mace Windu says to Padmé in Attack of the Clones of Dooku: “you know Count Dooku was once a Jedi? He couldn’t assassinate anyone. It’s not in his character”.

If Mace Windu, he who takes no shit and who suffers no fools, says “it’s not in his character” it tells you a lot about the kind of Jedi Dooku was and how he presented himself. But it also tells of the astonishing depth and speed of his fall. And you can see the deep wound of betrayal on Mace’s face when he draws his blade on Dooku in the arena on Geonosis.

I'm so glad the star wars community did not overstate the delight that is Eli Vanto. He's a nerd. He's a hick. He has an incredibly useful degree and no way to apply it. He' so angry all the time. Cannot stress enough the nerd part or the angry part. He's highkey a terrible person. He got headhunted right out of college with no way to turn it down so now he's professionally stuck being the Little Guy for one of the most terrifying strategists in the galaxy. His interests include shipping manifests and excel spreadsheets. He's a walking cautionary tale on the dangers of becoming important at your job. He regularly thinks about committing treason. People call him pretty boy.

obi-wan kenobi only looks like a respectable, even-tempered rule-follower because he's standing next to Anakin "what are rules" Skywalker and Ahsoka "i know the rules but i don't give a shit" Tano. the moment he's alone, and not being forced to keep anyone in check, he is JUST as chaotic as the other two, if not more because he DOES know the rules and he DOES give a fuck so the fact that he's breaking them means he REALLY wants to ruin someone's day

My scorching hot take is that Qui-Gon would NOT have been a better master for Anakin and that the only factor that needed to change to keep Anakin from the dark side was Palpatine. No one could have saved Anakin from him.

Honestly? It drives me crazy that people will see Dooku at his worst, his most heartbroken, his most manipulated, his most isolated, and be like "oh man! this dude saw what was wrong with the jedi!"

this dude hates himself. his greatest wish near the end of the clone wars is to be back at the temple, surrounded by friends and family and life and light, but he doesn't think he can. he doesn't think they would take him, and to some extent, he probably doesn't think he deserves it.

dooku longs for the time where he was still a jedi. he wishes he was 12 again and having tea with his Master.

in my mind "its not that deep" depends on how much the person is enjoying themselves, especially when it comes to fandom stuff. fans making lengthy character analysis out of a character with 2 seconds of screentime? theyre having a grand ol' time playing make believe in the shallow end of the pool and im not gonna stop their fun. people making discourse and starting fights over those same nothingburger characters? you are acting like you are drowning in an inch of water. stand up. youre fine.

Bail Organa is barely in "Revenge of the Sith" and he's such a badass in those few moments that it's wonderful. The Jedi have been declared traitors? Better go pick some Jedi Council members up personally and smuggle them onto Coruscant to destroy the trap beacon. Yoda tries to assassinate the new Emperor? Bail Organa is waiting solo outside in the getaway speeder, giving free taxi rides for people trying to kill dictators. Anakin Skywalker has turned to the Dark Side and killed Padmé? Better adopt and raise Darth Vader's daughter with unconditional love. And after this movie is over, Bail is apparently going to go right back to work in the Imperial Senate while helping to found the Rebellion, because this superspy does not fucking blink.

I’ve been thinking about Qui-Gon’s role as a teacher in TPM recently. I find it interesting that the times where he is correcting Obi-Wan, first about his anxieties and later by tone when Obi-Wan quips about “pathetic lifeforms”, those are moments where Obi-Wan betrays his two main character flaws: he tends to fret too much and he has a tendency to be judgemental.

I’ve talked about how Qui-Gon is still working on Obi-Wan’s anxiety because fear is dangerous to jedi, but he also works on that tendency to judge, because that kind of judgement, while it is harmless snark in small doses, can easily turn into pride and arrogance if it stays unchecked and pride too is dangerous for jedi.

I find it fascinating that those are lessons we can pick out in the movie, because it fits with Qui-Gon’s “you have much to learn, my young apprentice”. He doesn’t think Obi-Wan can’t handle himself - he is in fact depending heavily on it through the whole movie - what he worries about is Obi-Wan’s soul, his spirit. 

Obi-Wan isn’t in immediate danger of falling, but his cautiousness and snark are little cracks, slight weaknesses that Qui-Gon fusses at in his adult apprentice because he cares about much more than Obi-Wan’s practical career as a Knight, he cares about his place in the Force.

His last edict, that Obi-Wan must teach Anakin, is also a way to secure his place in the Force; if he implores him to teach, the ultimate goal for Jedi, their love-language, the risk of him falling prey to his lingering spiritual weaknesses is much smaller.

After death that’s what Qui-Gon occupies himself with as well, securing a spiritual tether for Yoda and then Obi-Wan.

I love how Obi-Wan enters a hug. He always stretches out his arms way before he reaches the person. It's very "hugs please!" And I love it😩
