“I wonder why your parents haven’t taught you to respect your elders.” Cassius sneered, still not moving from her way. “What are you doing that’s so important anyway?”

"They probably have the sense to know some elders aren’t worthy of it.” She smiled tauntingly, but it lacked real effort. “Why should I bother to tell you, anyways? You have no authority over me. Or did you confuse yourself into thinking you do?”

Evan smiled, not looking up from the book of curses he’d been perusing in the Malfoy’s old library. “My dear Miss Parkinson, didn’t anyone ever tell you that patience is a virtue?” He thumbed to the next page, running a finger across the aged text and skimming for anything new or useful. “I’d be happy to move for you, if you tell me what business you have in here first.”

“I didn’t realize that the library had restricted access,” Pansy sneered. She folded her arms and looked at him crossly. “Though, if it did, I wonder how you got in here. I would think that would be a privilege given only to purebloods.” She flashed a smile. “I’ve got better things to do than worry about virtues or explain to you why I’m here.”

Pansy rolled her eyes. “Would you like to finish whatever you’re doing now or move out of my bloody way?” Her voice was unpleasant and strict, but lacked the normal venom that usually dripped from her words.

“Some familiar faces certainly make this interesting enough.

Fuck: Phillip. Maybe we’d both decide to do something more interesting, I don’t know, like get a beer or watch paint dry.

Marry: Theo. I’m certainly not his “type”, but I feel like I could tolerate him enough. He comes from a good family if nothing else.

Kill: Draco. He’s done more than enough to earn his place here.”

A smile curled Evan’s lips in a manner that would likely have made a Cheshire Cat proud. “That would be quite something. It took five of the best trained Aurors to take my eye. You think you alone could do better?” The magical eye in question glinted at her, helping him better see which of his compatriots he’d stumbled upon just now. The Parkinson girl; of course it would be. “Why waste the energy trying when you could be enjoying the festivities to come? You need only put up with being jostled by filth for a few hours more. Save your anger for the upcoming fun.”

“I’m sure you’d love me to try. That seems to be your sort of thing, isn’t it?” Pansy growled. She rolled her eyes and folded her arms. “I hate to admit it, but you have a point. Doing anything now would make the entire plan useless. I’d still love to get rid of a few of these vermin before then. Retribution for pissing me off.” She eyed Evandrus. “You know how it is.”

“Don’t act so surprised to see me–we are on the same team, after all,” Marcus said, narrowing his eyes slightly at the haughty young woman who stood before him. “This isn’t about entertainment–or have you forgotten the real reason why we’ve decided to loiter around the Muggle public to begin with?”

“I guess I thought better company tonight, considering the importance of all this,” she said with a flippant wave of her hand. “I’m well aware, Flint, but if I have to watch Muggles like animals at the zoo, I’d rather not be bored out of my mind while doing it. I’m sure even you could understand that.”

“Why be born with a family name if you do not flaunt it? Something you obviously do not do, considering I did not have a clue of who you were when we first met, dear friend.” It was the least they could do, considering all the merda her mother put her through. “Let us just say… my attire is simply a mode of sick, self satisfaction. Do tell me who isn’t imagining Madam Death in undress?”

“There’s a very fine line between pride and vanity. I don’t think you’re on the better side of that line, dear,” she said while shaking her head. Pansy shook her head, feigning a pitiful look. “It is a little sick, for certain.”

“Oh, but it takes one to know one, sweet Pansy,” Visalia said with a roll of her eyes. “You will have to forgive me for threatening to bleed you. I could not quite make out that it was you with all the… well, I suppose you would call that your costume. Fashion these days is truly strange.”

Pansy laughed. “Unlike you, I don’t go around flaunting my family name and overwhelming amounts of money like I’ve got a chip in my shoulder about both.” Pansy looked the girl over, sneering. “You don’t think that your obvious hero worship isn’t a bit pathetic? Are you hoping our dear Elvira will give you a pat on the back?”

“Dear oh dear, perhaps if you weren’t so clumsy perhaps you could use those pretty eyes of yours to watch where you’re going.“ Elvira’s lips curled up into a condescending sneer as she looked down upon the angry woman. Having to take part in Muggle customs already left the woman in a foul mood, and now this child had decided to pick a preemptive fight with her. What a dreadful thing, these Halloween parties. “Severing a foot might actually bring some life to this party, but I digress. Your attitude is unbecoming. Will you behave like a proper lady or will I be forced to discipline you?”

“I’m not...” Pansy started angrily before trailing off. She kept a level gaze on Elvira. “I was unaware that it was you.” Pansy bit her tongue. She found the woman to be abrasive, but Elvira was brilliant and bloodthirsty. Pansy had enough sense to respect that. “I am surprised to see you here. Carnage never seemed to be your... style. I always thought you preferred something more elegant... Maybe I was mistaken.” Pansy may have respected Elvira, but she also didn’t appreciate being ordered around.

“Sei pazzo!?” Visalia snapped over her shoulder, eyes smoldering as she twisted – a sneer painted across her red-clad lips – to face the simpering brat who thought herself so high and mighty to try to threaten her. Visalia couldn’t believe what she was hearing. It was a familiar voice, truly, but Visalia had never been one to pay attention to the followers who meandered throughout the Barret-Blanche household, nor the Malfoy Manor. Her uncles estate, perhaps if only because it was where she spent most her time.

“I would love to see you try, but I should warn you. Just because these shoes are worth more than you are does not mean I cannot use them to make you bleed, should you attempt what you are thinking, maialino.”

“Of course it’s you.” Pansy rolled her eyes. “Aren’t you tired of that spoiled brat routine you do yet? I doubt it’s getting you very far without your family being anywhere nearby. Or are you lashing out because the poor princess homesick?” Pansy gave an exaggerated pout.

“We’ve got a bit of a temper problem, don’t we, Parkinson?” Marcus commented with an eye roll, tugging on his cape rather irritably. “If you don’t stop flapping your mouth, though, you’re likely to blow our cover long before midnight.”

“Ugh, it’s you, Flint.” She rolled her eyes. “This night would probably be a lot more exciting if something did happen, to be honest. Watching a bunch of pissed idiots tripping over themselves all night isn’t exactly wonderful entertainment.”

“Watch where you’re going, you dolt!” she snapped at a passerby who stepped on had bumped into her, not for the first time. Pansy was never much of one to party, but that didn’t mean she was happy with having to, essentially, work the event. Especially one with hundreds of scantily clad women wearing cheap imitations of her heritage and culture. Upon being shoved again, she spun on her heel. “I swear, if you run into me one more time, I’ll make sure you don’t have a foot to run with anymore...” She glared darkly in their direction.

“Flora would never join the Death Eaters, especially if you’re with them. She couldn’t stand you back in school and I remember once or twice when she almost changed your hair color because you were being a bitch to me. There’s no way she had changed from one night to the other” Unless the Death Eaters threatened to kill me if she didn’t join, Hestia thought. She would do the same if she was in Flora’s place, so she had concider that Pansy could be right. “I’m not stupid enough to take my wand in a crowded place like this, Pan-Pan, but I can do this instead.” She took the glass of one of the many boys that were dancing and poured the contents over Parkinson’s head. “Aw, look! Now your hair smells has bad as you look, how funny is that!” 

Flora was surprisingly easy to convince. Have you ever thought that maybe she never told you how she really felt because you’re...“ Pansy looked her up and down, sneering. “Well, you?”

“Hilarious. Truly. You must be very proud of yourself for that one.” Pansy pulled strands of soaked hair out of her face. “Don’t worry, though, Carrow,” Pansy said, wiping beer from her eye. A group of people were beginning to crowd around them, looking for another hint of trouble. Pansy though it was a shame that they wouldn’t find it. “I’ll make sure that you get exactly what you deserve.” With that, she turned and left, barely waiting to leave the site of the muggles before using a portkey to return home.

“Blood traitors? Please. You make me sound so conniving, I’m almost flattered. Anyway, those particular ties you’re hinting at have long been cut– what kind of idiot would I have to be to jeporadize my neutrality over ‘friendship’? Do I look like a self-sacrificing Gryffindor to you?”

“As for abandoning my family by not picking a side– is that why you joined up? Family honor? Funny, I thought you were in it to light people’s hair on fire without repercussions. Not that you’ve needed excuses for your barbarism in the past.”

“I would never insult you like that. It looks like you do have some common sense, Nott. Color me surprised. Though, I guess you’ve always been a smart kid.”

“You’ve met my parents. Do you think that they would allow me to do anything else, even if I wanted to? Truthfully, the lighting people’s hair on fire is just a perk. There aren’t too many headmasters around these days to encourage me not to.”
