@elfspectations close, but no cigar! It's my favourite expression, which in finnish is a cooking pun. The word "stir", as in stirring a soup/porridge/etc is also the word for "confuse", and "to burn to the bottom of the pan" is also used for a person experiencing burnout.

So "people must be stirred, or they'll burn to the bottom of the pot" can also be understood as "one must confuse people sometimes, so that they won't burn out (in life)."

This is inspired by post I saw where someone was like “people these days don’t pay attention to the deeper meaning of music,” and it’s like sure, okay, now tell me the magical year in which they did

According to a Gen X classmate in a creative writing class I once took, that magical year was approximately 1993.

This classmate had written and shared a short fiction piece about teenagers reacting to the news of Kurt Cobain’s death. After class, I complimented him on the way music functioned in the story and said his use of it reminded me of the way music functioned in some of the iconic stories about cool older teens I had loved as a millennial child in the 90s.

“Ah, yes,” said my classmate, completely seriously and without a trace of irony. “That’s because no other generation has ever loved music as much as we did.”

He nodded once and walked off.

This was years ago, and my wife and I are still laughing and making jokes about it.

(“I love this song!” “But do you love it as much as Gen X does?” And so on, and so forth.)

I truly don’t think people realize how dingy and dark most movies and tv shows actually are so they can’t appreciate the work and skill it takes to make gifs look the way your brain “remembers” it looking.

Another before and after example:

This gif needed 6 different adjustment layers, not including the sharpening process, which is its own separate challenge. The blue window was also changed to green to keep the palette more consistent and to reduce the range of colors needed, because a wider range of colors generally results in worse gif quality since gifs only support a max of 256 (compared to the millions your monitor can display).
