I’ve been making a list of every stupid thing Ward did in season 1 and...WOW. I honestly can’t see why you guys hate him so much.
1x17- Killing Agent Hand and the other 2 guards that were with her when she tells him to shoot Agent Garrett instead of sending him to the fridge.
1x18- Breaks Raina out of prison.
Kills a bunch of S.H.I.E.L.D agents who are protecting the fridge and busts a lot of criminals out. Including Ian Quinn(the douchebag who shot Skye). He and Garrett also get all the cool weapons and alien stuff out of there.
In hindsight, he does argue with Garrett about his decision to shoot Skye(and Garrett says that if he’d known about ward’s feelings before he would have asked permission).
1x19- He is prepared to shoot May and the only reason he doesn't is because he realizes that she is leaving.
Ward murders Agent Eric(the guy who lives at the secret base) because he was going to see the images from the fridge and he was going to find out that Ward was there and lied about everything.
In hindsight, he tells Skye that he is not a good man(in a moment of sincerity) and he opens up to her about his past. AND he only murdered Eric and almost shot May because he only had 24 hours to get to Skye(as Garrett said to him in ep 1x18), after that Garrett wanted Skye to be brought to him(probably to torture and kill her).
1x21- Garrett tells Ward to kill Fitz-Simmons(after they tried to kill him). So after Fitz-Simmons run and lock themselves in a chamber, Ward releases the chamber off the plane. Thus, sending Fitz-Simmons to the bottom of the ocean.
In hindsight, he did this with a crying face and only because he thought love is weakness… Therefore admitting that he loved them. And he couldn’t bear to look at their faces as he was releasing the chamber.
1x22- He fights with May and has no care about hurting her. But then again, neither does she.
In hindsight, he realizes that Garrett is going crazy and he doesn’t agree with the whole hail hydra thing. He expresses that he was only ever in this to protect Garrett. When Raina talks to him he admits that he doesn’t know if he is evil or not. When Garrett tells him to go get Skye because she is an important part of the whole evolution future he goes and tells Skye that she is the only thing he has wanted in a very long time. And in his distorted logic she is his weakness.
PS: The list only includes his actions from season 1 because in season 2 he started his redemption. And the stupid things he did in season 2 he only did to survive.
