hi  again  . . .   it’s  haley  hehe  this  is  summer  ,  a  ditzy  airhead  muse  with  the  best  intentions  &  the  worst  self - esteem  !!

being  the  daughter  of  lesbian  folk  rock  legend / feminist  icon  comes  with  its  perks  . . . . .  the  lack  of  need  for  a  job  ,  the  social  media  following  without  having  to  work  for  it  ,  the  first  class  education  . . .  everything  summer  doesn’t  realize  she  should  be  grateful  for  !  childhood  was  both  exhilarating  &  debilitating  :  while  both  being  in awe  of  her  two  family  members  she  adores  &  idolizes  ,  she’s  also keenly  aware  of  the  tension  in  the  home  .  her  mother’s  short  words  &  lack  of  physical  affection  ,  her  brother’s  stoicism  &  intensity  ,  &  her  own  tiny  but  mighty  personality  :  a  ball  of  energy bouncing  off  the  walls  in  a  spiderman  mask  &  a  princess  fiona  dress  .  as  the  youngest  of  the  family  ,  she  takes  it  upon  herself  to  fill  the  role  of  jester  ,  doing  everything  in  her  power  to  make  her  family  smile  .

it’s  far  too  long  into  school  that  she’s  finally  taken  to  see  a  specialist  ,  an  adhd  diagnosis  following  shortly  after  .  taking  her  pills  ,  she  finds  ,  means  the  noise  in  her  brain  is  quieted  ,  but  the  world  is  a  little  less  bright  ,  her  energy  a  little  more  limited  .  she  never  finds  a  passion  for  learning  but  instead  thrives  in  the  social  circle  she  was  inducted  into  via  her  way  in  :  lefty  ,  the  boy  she’d  always  looked  up  to  &  now  got  to  infiltrate  his  friend  group  ,  too  .  she  struggles  in  school  ,  but  shines  when  it  comes  to  cheering  someone  up  ,  helping  them  pick  an  outfit  ,  or  providing  unsolicited  &  oftentimes  unhelpful  advice  .  she  realizes  ,  after  making  a  remark  to  her  mother  about  her  body  ,  that  her  mother  has  incredibly  high  standards  :  unrealistically  high  ,  she  doesn’t  realize  ,  &  rather  than  try  to  meet  them  ,  summer  starts  to  actively  try  to  disappoint  .  after  all  ,  how  can  one  be  a  disappointment  when  it’s  their  default  state  ?   after  graduation  ,  she  decides  to  stop  taking  her  medication  ,  deciding  that  the  world  is  simply  more  fun  au  naturel  .

summer  as  a  person  is  a  bit  of  a  train  wreck  . . . . .  she’s  constantly  paranoid  about  making  a  fool  of  herself  accidentally  in  front  of  their  mom  (  who  she  looks  up  to  SO  much  )  ,  so  instead  she  just  avoids  making  any  solid  public  decisions  on  anything  .  she's  known  as  a  bit  of  a  spacey  jane  within  the  friend  group  —  she  does  what  she  wants  when  she  wants  ,  loves  abba  ,  chases  shots  with  mango  juice  ,  is  extremely  gullible  (  the  joke  flies  right  over  her  head  half  the  time  )  ,  would  rescue  a  spider  then  cry  if  it  died  . . .   etc  etc  .  she’s  easily  loved  but  not  easily  understood  ,  &  that’s  just  the  way  she  likes  it  .

summer  is  a  HUGE  pushover —  if  it  means  acceptance  ,  she’s  willing  to  risk  it  all  .  she’s  so  desperate  for  validation  that  she's  kinda  willing  to  bend  over  backwards  for  anyone  which  more  often  than  not  ends  in  tears  for  her  ,  but  she  never  learns  .  it's  her  default  to  have  an  open  heart  &  be  willing  to  help  others  ,  even  when  the  same  energy  rarely  gets  reciprocated  .

a  few  years  ago  ,  summer’s  bio  dad  got  into  contact  with  her  .  the  former  sperm  donor  turned  social  media  business  mogul  starts  to  spend  time  with  his  daughter  ,  buying  her  gifts  ,  complimenting her  ,  &  providing  a  semblance  of  the  father  figure  she  never  had  . it’s  little  surprise  when  ,  a  few  years  later  ,  he  easily  convinces  her  that  marrying  a  man  who  she’d  known  since  childhood  in  order  to  make  sure  that  she  &  her  family  are  taken  care  of  forever .  it  seems  like  a  joke  when  she  announces  the  idea  to  her  brother  ,  but  her  mother’s  furious  reaction  leaves  little  lasting  impact  on  summer  .  she  considers  this  marriage  a  way  to  avoid  having  to  really  do  anything  with  her  life  —  being  a  wife  is  enough  for  her  ,  seeing  as  she  can’t  make  any  huge  public  mistakes  that  embarrass  her  as  the  daughter  of  an  outspoken  feminist  .  

summer  doesn’t  tend  to  think  about  consequences  of  actions  ,  so  she  hasn’t  really  thought  through  what  a  marriage  actually  means  . . .  she’s  more  excited  for  the  dress  ,  the  venue  ,  &  all  the  parties  she  gets  to  make  about  her  !  she  doesn’t  consider  there  to  be  any  other  way  to  her  life  than  the  wedding  at  the  end  of  the  summer  .

HIGH  SCHOOL  BESTIE  TURNED  ENEMY  :  summer  &  your  muse  were  thick  as  thieves  in  high  school  but  something  happened  that  caused  them  to  have  a  huge  falling  out  .  either  both  sides  are  still  angry  ,  or  only  one  ,  but  it  still  causes  tension  within  the  group  .  any  gender  !
